I don't know why this store has such a low score. It's a busy urban 24/7 Pharmacy. They probably get over 600 prescriptions a day to be filled. Given this fact I think they do a very good job here. I have always been met with courtsey and respect by the technicians and retail store staff. Eager to help and assist. Although I have never interacted with the pharmacist. My Prescriptions have always been filled in a timely manner. The store is clean orderly and well stocked inside. The self check out is also quick and efficient. The outside of the building is a little dated, parking lot needs to be repaved or slurry sealed but building itself has been recently refreshed. I'd give this place a chance, this is my preferred CVS pharmacy. read more

After being a CVS customer for over 15 years I will NEVER shop there or go to CVS for prescriptions, flu shots or anything. Yesterday morning I had a hemmoroidectemy. A colleague took off work to take me to and from surgery. I had a prescription for nor-co (pain med) from my doctor. We arrived at CVS at noon and turned it in. 20 minutes later I was informed that the pharmacist would not fill it until they talked to my doctor. They called doctor and entire office was at lunch until 1:30 PM. My friend had to get back to work but I couldn't drive. I was starting to have excruciating pain. I still had the tape on my left hand from the IV and I still had the band on my wrist clearly showing I just had surgery. They refused to fill the order. I asked if this was some sort of law or CVS policy. They said it was just the pharmacists decision. So we sat in a hot car in the parking lot for over an hour waiting. At one point I got a text saying the prescription was ready so I called. They said "no still have to talk to doctor". I asked to talk to head pharmacist. I was on hold for 25 minutes and finally just hung up. Finally I got my medicine and went home - 2 hours after I had left the surgery center. NOT ONCE did anyone in the pharmacy ask me what surgery I had. NOT ONCE did they ask if I was experiencing pain. They were unsympathetic, and refused to give me the prescription - even under these circumstances of my doctor and his staff being at lunch. What would they have done if I had gotten there late afternoon and my doctors office was closed for the day? No pain meds until the next day?? My recovery from this very painful procedure is not going to go smoothly because I was not able to go home and go to bed instead I had to stand and argue with the pharmacy which caused a lot of stress. I am still angry and upset about the treatment I received yesterday. My doctor's office when I finally reached them said "we have a lot of problems like this with CVS" -- I understand precaution in some of these meds but again - no one asked what procedure I had, I had the flippin' wristband on my arm still showing I had been admitted for surgery. A pharmacist should have asked me what procedure I had done and if I was in pain. I cannot find any reason any reasonable person would find to not fill my prescription. So glad that the CVS manager still let me use the bathroom which she first claimed to be "out of order" so I could utilize the feminine products I JUST BOUGHT!!! Me: Can I use the restroom Manager (as she fixes a table cloth, no eye contact, back facing me): It's out of order Me (fumbling the tampon inside my pocket): I'm a customer, I just bought a bunch of stuff Manager (back still facing me): It's still out of order Me: ok. where do the employees go Manager (shrugs): I don't know, somewhere else Me: HER: I'll let you use it, but it's out of order Me: It's a feminine issue She walks me back and unlocks the door, let's me know that the handicap toilet is out of order. There are two restrooms back there, a men's and woman's, the woman's had two stalls inside and as I entered the regular stall, someone who was already in the handicap stall flushed it and exited. I don't write reviews but this has to be the worst pharmacy I have ever been to. I don't need service with a smile, but competence is necessary. The clerk Jesus is slow and rude. Employees are on their phones texting while patients are lining up to be helped. Even after I receive notification my prescription is ready they won't provide it. I live in the area, but I'll go out if my way to pick up my monthly rx elsewhere. These folks must hate their jobs. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

Hooooboy. This will be like screaming into the darkness, but CVS pharmacy has fallen so low on all points that I seriously do not know where to begin. To be certain, without fail, from the pharmacists to the aides who take the money and give the goods AND anyone who answers the phone: they are all simply RUDE AF. Just flat out rude. Mean. Thankless. The only reason I stay with them is that drive-thru. And at this point, I am no longer (I CAN NO LONGER) attempting to stay calm and pleasant; appreciative nor courteous. I arrived 15 minutes early, nothing was set up for COVID TESTING. At 8:54 they BEGIN setting up, the young lady and female security guard were very nice, the guy was a total JERK. AT 9:10 the young lady said they would be starting shortly (I had a 9:00 appt). Then they scamper around some more, at 9:20 a contrite jerk comes to my car to tell me they are missing a part they need and they are working on the problem...then they sit there. So I wait 15 more minutes while I reschedule for another CVS...don't use this CVS, they do not know what they are doing! WORST PHARMACY EXPERIENCE EVER. So I had my first ever prescription filled here, 2 medications from my doctor in the morning. Got an automated call that it was ready for pick up. 3:15pm, 10 people in line, only 1 counter clerk working. Finally get to the counter -- only 1 prescription is ready and the other prescription requires "verbal authorization from the doctor's office". Ok so give them a call, I said. "Not our policy to call the doctor's office". So I get out of the 10 person line to call my doctor's office, and they say they will call in to verify. Wait 30 minutes more. Check in with the Drop Off Consultant who is this snarky bitch who is looking at me disinterested while typing on her keyboard, throwing phrases like "You know that's a controlled prescription" or "We don't have it in our system". Rather than being proactive and helping a customer, she'd rather take out her dissatisfaction of her lowly menial job on the public. Another call into my doctor's office, I explained the counter clerk was being argumentative, and my doctor said it was ironic I said that because they also dealt with a rude pharmacist on the phone when she called. I asked to have the prescription transferred to my local Rite Aid instead, CVS has lost my business for life. BTW the only pro about this place is the large parking lot, but even that is filled with homeless, beggars, drug addicts, and sketchy folks. read more

I've been using this CVS pharmacy for 2 years and I've experienced ups and downs regarding wait times, lines, etc. Today I went in to pick up my usual Rx and was helped by a young man named Eric. He must be new because I've never seen him. Anyways, I was caught so off guard by his professionalism, adherence to procedure, friendliness and over all pleasant demeanor! I came to buy makeup and was in the process of paying. I noticed the bill said 50% off the makeup. I asked Jean the cashier what was the sale because I didn't see the discount on the makeup. She mentioned the wet and wild was buy one get one half off. I asked her to cancel the makeup so I can get something else. Jean didn't want to cancel it and made pay because there was a line. This CVS is a block from me, so I've been frequenting them quite a bit in the last month. They definitely have their problems, but the staff does try very hard to help you and make sure everything in the transaction goes ok. It's not the biggest CVS, which is both a strength and a weakness. I couldn't find a toothpaste from their weekly ad recently, which is annoying. But they're open 24 hours and the lines are rarely too long at checkout. Happy to have a place a few steps away to grab anything I need, anytime. read more

Family and I had covid test here for Hawaii trip and they entered the wrong data for our birthdates resulting in losing our results! Customer service was rude and useless. We had to take more tests and pay again. They basically said "yeah we messed up and it's our fault but you won't get reimbursed and have to take another test and pay again". They had given her an old dosage two days ago completely ignoring the recent prescription called in by her doctor. She would have left empty handed without my advocacy. Conversely, ankle biters peddling bootleg DVDs and, to wit the child's pitch, "that hot new shit" (out of the mouths of babes oft times come germs) regard this joint as a venue that allows them to harass you with "Crazy Vigorous Solicitations." If you're looking to up your propensity for piracy to reveling, new heights, this CVS parking lot is high tide! Prepare to be sold on classics running the gamut from Transformers to White Men Can't Jump. My favourite ilk, however, has got to be the "Casual Virus-free Sex" clan. Nothing beats standing in line with strangers who are fighting the same good fight as you. Drug stores never fail to provide an ample supply of free entertainment at the expense of those less fortunate. It's like you can't go pick up batteries without walking away with some random experience you'll never forget. Perhaps this is true or perhaps I am just hyper observant. My best friend and I used to buy our booze from this CVS when we lived in North Park. Not having a ton of disposable income, we could always count on some pretty good deals. People shop at you because you are 24 hours,open on the holidays and have a bigger parking lot than the Walgreens across the street. Lorda mercy, this place is horrific. The only reason I come here is if there's a particularly good sale on some make-up or beauty items. But 99% of the time, I will head to the CVS on Washington, which is a tiny bit better, or to the one on Mira Mesa Boulevard by my work. I don't know what it is about this particular CVS, but it attracts unsavory characters both in the parking lot AND inside the store. Service? Whoa. Non-existent. I mean it. One time, the checkout line was super long, so I wandered around a little more, to see if it went down. It did, and I was the 2nd (and last) person on line. There were 3 checkers, one of which was busy, one of which I guess was clocking out and not about to help one more guest, one who abandoned her post to straighten up the candy display...in front of the registers...where I was standing waiting. I patiently waited for the other checker who was busy to finish, and she took care of me just fine. But it is abundantly clear that the employees of this CVS will only do the bare minimum to keep their job. Maybe not even THAT much. read more

This CVS is conveniently located on the outskirts of the North Park bar scene. It services North Park-ians with a variety of amenities such as pharmaceuticals, snacks, and alcohol. The trickiest part about this business is definitely the parking lot and ingress and egress areas. The parking lot is designed on throughways that are one way, but they're pretty narrow and one of the entrances is technically a one way, but many patrons, including myself, use it to enter and exit anyway. This has caused some confusion. To add to the confusion, the sideways on the east side of the lot is very low. Makes you want to just exit through the sidewalk sometimes if you're in a truck or a relatively high off the ground vehicle. Again, I'm guilty of doing this too, but it was an accident. The inside is like a typical CVS. Everything you'd expect to be there, and maybe more. The employees are ultra friendly, even to the most obnoxious parties after a night out on 30th Street. They have a killer liquor selection with frequent sales. The beer selection is okay, but it gets the job done. Make sure to get the rewards card to capitalize on the deals. For your non alcoholic items, there are also self-checkout stations. Going back outside, there are two Redbox stations right by the entrance. Convenient if the girl or guy you're seeing is too lazy (or "busy", as they claim) to get Internet, but you need some entertainment nonetheless. Next to the Redbox' you'll often find a potpourri of unfortunately homeless gentlemen, drunk guys needing a break on their trek home, or a random dude eating a pizza using the top of the trash can as his table. Do not fret, I have yet to encounter anyone violent or even aggressive. However, I would recommend that ladies under 5'4, weighing 130lbs or less, and who may or may not be single, not go alone past 10ish. Or if you do, be cautious of your surroundings. For what it's worth, I'll willingly volunteer to accompany any woman between 24-32 years old, who is in shape, educated, cultured, between 5'2-5'8, and up to 140ish lbs. on your CVS shopping needs. read more

Ugghh. If this store wasn't two blocks from my house, I would never come here. The store is like every other CVS/Riteaid/Walgreens: the aisles are arranged with some running parallel, while other aisles come off perpendicular, at a diagonal, and staggered to boot. It makes it extremely complicated to navigate around. I don't know if this is some sort of complex marketing tactic that ensures the customer will navigate past the most items possible to increase the chances of an impulse buy. Most of the normal items you would probably need from a 24hr store are here which are nice: chips and salsa, soup, frozen food, and booze. The prices are moderate, but whenever there is any sort of sale customers purge the shelves like it was the end of the world. For some reason, the soda coolers are broken or not really working about 65% of the time which is very annoying. Possibly the worst thing about this particular CVS is checking out. There is nearly always a line that takes 5 minutes to get through. It always takes so long to get through that I occasionally place all of my items on the ground and leave in a show of protest. The cashiers are nice enough, but the ones on the graveyard shift shift can be especially bitter.... For some reason I have lived too close to this CVS for years and been forced to go there for late night convenience, otherwise I would avoid it. read more

I don't understand people's problem with this place. Yeah, there are some homeless people nearby. It happens. We live in a city in a warm climate. Maybe CVS should pack 'em all into a van and ship them somewhere out of sight to make your toilet-paper buying experience better? Your fellow customers just too darn dumpy for your comfort? If you want all your fellow customers to be affluent and white, I recommend somewhere up in Orange County. I've never had a problem with the pharmacy. They fill my prescriptions on time, every time. I've seen those guys and girls deal with some shit too. Waiting in line, watching people scream and cry and stomp around, wondering why they can't get their medicine without a prescription. I get it, you're sick, you need your meds. You really need the script though - especially for those benzos. Pharmacists can't go handing them out on the honor system. Those ladies and gents do a fine job filling scripts, and an insanely good job at keeping their composure under a relatively relentless onslaught of stupid. I've had a couple out-of-stock issues, but you know what's weird? That happens. At stores. You know. People buy stuff until it runs out. I mean, it's inconvenient, but it's no one's fault. Staff members have never been an obstacle, and have helped me out every time I've needed it. Even on Christmas day when I wandered in, looking for something specific. The lady who drew the short-straw holiday shift was incredibly helpful and tracked down exactly what I was looking for. Really, this place might be colorful, but it's a great store. read more

This Sav-On is no longer a Sav-on. It's a CVS, and you wouldn't know to look at it from the outside (the parking lot sucks), but boy have they improved it on the inside. This place is huge, and after a recent remodel, it's clean, bright, and chock-full of all the Drug Store basics: Cosmetics, Pharmacy, Office Supplies, Food, Snacks, Alcohol, Magazines, and all the other odd items one expects from a drug store. Okay, let me tell you--this is the store to hit if you want to find out what-all types of people live in my neighborhood (answer: every type you can imagine. It's awesome). I swear, everyone shops here. This often means a gnarly line at check out (I can't believe I just wrote "gnarly"), especially between 6:30pm and 9pm. But it's worth it sometimes--for example, when they're selling 6-packs of Guinness Daught for $5 each. By now I can't imagine it comes as a surprise to learn that I frequent this store primarily in my quest for beer. Sure, I've purchased the odd bag of chips, birthday card, notebook, and magazine here, but those items account for about a third of my CVS purchases. Usually I'm here for beer. They don't have a great selection, but their sales are worth checking out. But I'll tell you, if there's no sale I'd gauge the line before deciding if a purchase is worthwhile. read more

I love the fact that there are 67 reviews for this place. I've written their corporate headquarters, called them, told myself I would never go back, and yet, there I go again, back to the store. Some good things - cheap big bottles of booze. That's it actually. Well the staff seem ok, like overworked and scared and like "wtf why do I work here?", but still pretty nice actually, even at the pharmacy where they mess everything up Bad things - trash all over the parking lot - people lurking/passed out/sitting and asking you things right outside the door - a deaf homeless man actually asked me for money inside the store near the milk! A first! - The pharmacy always screws everything up for everyone, every time I go there is some lady with tattoos yelling at the pharmacy about her birth control pills, haha, that happened once actually, but they've messed up my medicine consistently in some form (didn't refill it, don't have it, put wrong medicine) about 70% of the times I've picked something up, I've seen an angry person saying something angry every time I've gone here - There is usually a long line of angry people for the pharmacy, once at 11:30pm no joke - The line for regular checkout is never clear where it is, and it's usually long and has like 2-3 feeder lines going into it, nobody knows what the hell to do with self-checkout so someone is always helping someone over there - Once I tried to get some pictures printed using their online computer thing - hahahahaha, that was fun, it took like 5 trips and 7 employees and they still jacked up the pictures Bottom line - this is a typical ghetto CVS in big city USA, there are tons of them all over the country, I've seen them in LA, Oakland, and NYC, and they are all the same like this, so you either know this and expect it or you drive up to Carmel Valley or somewhere else. read more

Thus far, I must say that CVS is one of my favorite places to go in North Park. Hear me out literate lads and lasses, for I ain't gone crazy, ...well, okay, maybe just a bit, but hear me out regardless of this, my current mental state or altered state as this particular case would find it. It is not as if this CVS is the nicest place on earth, but seldom are they, ...nice places I mean. This locale might not be the ideal location for a first date per se, however if said date ends up going down the crooked and wide, then CVS gotcho' backs. Dark cool air on my hands and face as I stagger across the expansive parking lot, perhaps drunk, maybe gone out of my mind, or mayhaps en route, as the garish beacon gasps a toothy grin both alarming and comforting. Hobos, regular haggard folk, and vampires (i think) loiter about outside as I administer a friendly hello and nod upon entering the mouth of this forty-one hundred kelvin Jersey strip-mall jack o' lantern of a store. I become aware of myself for a few seconds, which allows me enough time to realize the security cameras above me. Me being one whom is currently wearing hoodie, hood up, and black sunglasses. As the camera looms over head, that police sketch of the uni-bomber gets stuck in my mind. The store has bright colors everywhere and helter skelter isleterior design. It is a peculiar fun-house, a fun-house that would definitely be too harsh on my face if I'd have been sans dark sunglasses tonight. ...Oh wait, what come for? Oh yes, beer come for. Navigating through a handful of isles, I find the cooler case, which is just strewn with old beers sentenced to a life imprisonment under the metal shelving, some cans even burst with all sorts of dust and hairs clinging to the malted Styx below. Opening the doors and the familiar stale cooler fragrance wafted down over my face and lapped against my shins. I grabbed the beer on sale which was Tecate on this night (sometimes it is Miller High Life). Both I consider more of hydration than beer, but respectable in their own right. Heading to the front of the store, I stand in a medium-sized cue, playing a game called, "Hey there stranger, let's stare each other down while waitin' in this here line. GO!" So I haven't seen her in a while, and I am craving some bottled water like nobody's business. And I ran in with my friend on the off chance I'd get to see Judy. I will start by saying that I wish I could like this Pharmacy. Pharmacies require many stop lights where I live and I am not fond of stop lights. But, this CVS is the closest to my house and is convenient. Unless you are unlike me, you go to pharmacies when you really need something. I mean, who shops for shampoo or food at a pharmacy when you either have the means to get a cheaper place (like Target ) or when your time is more valuable? I go to pharmacies when I have little time or need a prescription filled. Today I needed a prescription filled. I was at the dentist and they "called it in". When I arrived (45 minutes later), this CVS had not even looked at my prescription. They proceeded to try and give me my doctor's pre-ordered prescription and asked me to get into the back of the "drop-off" lane. "Woh, stop here, wait a minute"...I thought that was the point of having a prescription called in You don't have to wait in the drop-off lane, which, by the way, was 7 people long. But, that's beside the point. I asked them why I had to be directed to the back of the line if my Dr. called it in. They grudgingly agreed to take care of it "as soon as possible". So, I decided to shop. Cashew peanuts, string cheese, Tylenol, dish soap, soup, and a magazine...random, but hey, I have enough vanity products from Target. But, I mine as well go grab a shopping basket and stock up on random shit while I wait. I waited...and waited. Finally! I hear my name called (yay, I'm up!). He needed my insurance card which I knew would take another 20 minutes to input into the system at this pharmacy (I have purchased prescriptions here many times and this has never been a problem). I waited some more until, at last! someone said that it would be ready by the time I got through the latest "pick-up" line. The lines are always slow but I was excited to finally get out of there (it had been 50 min since I stepped in). The girl in front of me was buying some Liter of Vodka and a few staples...I was next. I could hardly control myself. I was actually going to get out of CVS soon! I strutted up with my basket with "less than 10 items" and my prescription was ready. And then, I got angry, I was only frustrated prior this point. I was told that the line was too long so I could only purchase my prescription at the pharmacy and I had to go to the front desk to purchase any accoutrements unless I spoke to the manager. The manager was on the phone. I actually got feisty with the clerk behind the counter, which I rarely do. The managees are just listening to directions, after all. I had no more patience to wait for the manager to get off the call at this point I told them I would shop at Rite-Aid from now on, and I will. I proceeded to get into another line at the front (it went quickly and it was seemingly efficient, but at that point it was all relative). I got out with a prescription of amoxicillin, a headache, some string cheese for the drive home, an hour of CVS hell, knowing that I may never shop there again. Sorry CVS, I want you to be my neighborhood drug-store of choice, but someone either needs to build another Rite Aid or invest in more staff at your location or the Wallgreens across the street. First off, i'm far from a saint and i am not judging ... So i'm in bed at midnight (it was a school night) tossing, turning, sneezing, coughing, etc ...so I get my sick ass out of bed and drive over to CVS for some meds and some of Granda's old cough medicine. Good Christ. This place is a nightmare from the second you pull into the cramped, oddly-angled pay-to-park lot, trying to avoid the tweekers and street-musicians camped out in the only available parking spot. Put your head down and walk briskly pass more tweekers making drug deals on the steps, into the confusing aisleways lined with nearly empty shelves and - oh wait, tweekers. Get in line behind approximately 30-40 other people with the only two of seven products on your list that you could find, then give up and drive to Target instead. I have never found more helpful, kind, patient and supportive staff at any pharmacy I've been to as an adult for the past 30 years. I don't know what is going on with training and hiring, but it's working - I hope this store does everything to keep its pharmacy employees happy because they are models of customer service. read more

This store seems to be stepping up their game recently. The items I've needed are in stock, the store looks more organized and their location is really convenient. People are still extremely friendly and have given me tips on how best to use their photo printing services, etc. The prices are still better than Walgreens most of the time and I love that they carry so much holiday stuff (e.g., Valentine's Day). read more

Not sure what is going on here lately but the quality of service in the Pharmacy has really gone down hill. The last 3 times I've picked up a prescription, the service was absolute crap. 1st Time I had changed insurance companies so I brushed it off to that, 2nd time it was pretty busy, so again I brushed it off, but I just went in and no one was waiting and the lady was super rude. I've been coming here for years so I hate to leave a bad review, just wanted to let someone know they should up their training on customer service. When this was a Sav-On, it sucked. The pharmacy was slow, crowded, the workers rude and inconsiderate. Well, somehow CVS (WTF does that mean anyway?) is totally different. I went in there this week to pick up a refill of my Rogaine . I had forgotten to punch in the time I wanted to pick-up the refill of my Marinol, I mean Rogaine, and it wasn't ready when I was. So, they picked up an empty bottle and filled the F---'in RX. What a concept. The old Sav-On would have made me w8 behind all the other sorry ass mother fuckers trying to get their Vicodin fix. read more

Amazing selection of crap you do not need, rushed and slightly rude service at the pharmacy, and way over priced on drugs if you do not have insurance. $25 for generic Amoxicilln? Really? This review is a long time coming. CVS's pharmacy is a huge, steamy, pile of turds. I can't count how many times I've used their automated system for a refill on a prescription, and when I've arrived for pickup, my order hasn't even been looked at. Last straw. I called them early-ish this morning, around 9, and asked for my refill to be ready at 6pm. I arrived here about 5 minutes ago (7:30p), and these stupid buttholes haven't TOUCHED my prescription order. "Looks like it's not ready - but the pharmacists are working on it. We'll call your name when it's ready." Oh, really? So, you're telling me that if I put my order into your system like 10.5 hours ago, it still won't be ready even 90 mins after I asked it to be ready? Mmmk. Fuck you guys. read more

This place is seedy as all fuck. I only shop here cause it is the closest drugstore on my side of the hood. Don't get me wrong, they do the job and usually have everything I need but.. One: there is always a huge line to pay for your stuff which is hella annoying cause there is no such thing as a "quick drug store stop" at this place. Two: the people at the register take their sweet ass time checking out your loot Three: there is always a plethora of total weirdos in there, creepy homeless guys outside, thugs, hoochies, you name it. Don't get your COVID19 test here. Paid $139 out of pocket hoping to get the results back in time(As promised on their ad - 2-3days) to avoid quarantine for a trip to Hawaii.
