this place sucks as a pharmacy. the checkout line is a hot mess..50 signs with too many words and the instructions change all the time. there's an "express" lane if you've got a pickup barcode ready, which is never staffed. sometimes they ask you for your ID, sometimes they need your barcode (good luck with that), sometimes they just bark at you when you don't tell them your birth date fast enough. the customer service is lacking constantly, i assume because they're understaffed and stressed. god forbid you pick up a prescription towards the end of the date range, you'll get dirty looks for that. cvs ran rite aid out of business by offering 24hr prescriptions, then they reduced a bunch of their stores' hours, so the remaining overnight locations are swamped. i waited in line for 30 mins a couple weeks ago. tonight i show up at 1:30am after work, only to find the store is closed with no explanation. i'm hoping there's some mass consensus that cvs doesn't deserve the business it has and people switch back to other pharmacies. read more

Pharmacist Ryan and the lady with the S.H initials need training on hospitality and customer service. It's horrible that they treat people like robots when they may be going through things while trying to pick up medication. Feel some emotions for once. I don't normally write reviews but the experience I just had on the phone with Sharon Park made my blood boil and I'd rate this store a zero if I could. I'm due for a refill of a medication that is unfortunately experiencing a shortage so I was calling around to other CVS stores to see if they had it in stock. Luckily the University Ave. location has my meds and enough supply for a 30 day quantity. My refill is due tomorrow but Sharon began to argue that it can't be filled until the day after due to store policy when every other CVS I spoke with agreed that tomorrow is my official refill day but they just didn't have the medication in stock. I explained to Sharon that I have a long history with this medication and that even the CVS app that I use to keep track of my meds and refills plainly states that my refill is due tomorrow and not the day after. I also informed her that had to leave town ASAP due to a family emergency and that I couldn't travel without it as it a psychiatric medication that I take twice a day. Sharon immediately reiterated "store policy" without looking at my very lengthy prescription history and then proceeded to hang up on me - not just once but three times after I'd been on hold for at least 30 minutes for each phone call. My advice for future patients: Do your research, read the reviews, and don't let them **** with your meds. read more

Staff here is horrible. I'm pretty sure the person who helped me out was tweaking or something because she did not seem to be in a right state of mind. She was talking on her personal phone and when I asked her for help, she told the person on the line "Hold up, let me help this motherf*ker out, so I can get him out the store." I think I have only ever wrote 2 reviews on this thing .... This is a review purely for Renee who works in the pharmacy. God, you guys have an angel on your pharmacy team because Renee is a godsend. Working with the utmost professionalism and "protective momma bear" persona, you can rest assured she will take care of you! Renee's "take charge, can do" attitude stays with you...it makes you feel like you are not just a number but a real person. Finally...a lot of reviews are saying that this pharmacy has long wait lines. I want to say, as a person going to this pharmacy for 8+ years, this is in ***north park/hillcrest*** and one of the only places that does no judgement hormone replacements. Speaking of COVID, "LOL" at the people saying the hours were limited in 12/2021 or from 3/15/19-05/2022....like y'alllllllllll! It was covid...everything was limited hours. I can't with some people. Take those reviews with a grain of salt and realize that we, as a society in general, need to relax our unrealistic expectations of say...not having to wait in line. Finally, RENEE-Thank you endlessly for always taking care of Gio and I. We just think the world of you! We actually moved to Lake Arrowhead and come down to San Diego once a month. I live in the neighborhood and I come in here often. The staff have always been very nice and helpful. Well, today I met MARVIN. I came in today at 2:45 PM to do a shop and pay order for a customer. I shopped the store and gathered all the items for the customer, but I left the nasal decongestant for last because I knew it was going to be behind glass and I needed help. I searched the locked shelf where I thought the medicine should be, but I couldn't find it. There was an employee there to unlock the cabinet for another customer who I would later find out was named MARVIN. I asked if he could help me find the item and I showed him a picture of it on my phone. He responded by saying "I can't do your job for you." I was surprised and taken aback by his attitude. I said you can't help me find it? He said again "I can't do your job for you. You're here to shop for the customer and I will open the cabinet for you when you find it." I really couldn't believe it and I thought to myself doesn't this guy understand that he works in customer service? I was there to represent a paying customer. If the customer was there in person would MARVIN have treated them that way? I kept looking for the item I needed, but still couldn't find it. MARVIN just stood there doing nothing. I said to MARVIN, well you still need to open the cabinet when I find it . MARVIN then simply opened all the cases and walked away instead of helping me. Thankfully, I eventually found it but wow, this could have gone a lot nicer and quicker for the both of us. I find it absolutely ridiculous and rude that MARVIN refused to help me find the medication I was looking for. After all, that is his job. Customer service. Like I said, I live in the neighborhood and I frequent the store often. Will he treat me like that when I'm not representing another customer? We will see. MARVIN is a sad excuse for an employee and should not be working in the customer service industry in any way shape or form. read more

I'm not sure if they are closing down or remodeling.. But this store was a mess! I came here to buy simple necessities: band aids and face wash. It's a big store but the aisles were near empty.. It looked like an apocalypse. The staff seemed disorganized as well. I was lucky enough to grab the last bottle of the face wash..Any one else is out of luck. The only reason I am giving this location a 3 star instead of a 2 is that after battling parking in north park many times.. This cvs gets a lot of hate for the wrong reasons. They put up with a crazy amount of disrespectful people and tolerate a lot on what goes on around the property. What do you expect? Look where you are. If tough skin bothers you then pick up your meds or grab your needs up at the target (cvs pharm) few blocks away. It's understandable you expect service with a smile but come on, it's like you guys are not considering the location or the volume of insanity they receive on every shift they work. I have a lot respect for them. Most of the employees I've come across have been then there for a few years now. At least since I lived in the area. If you're just coming in here once every so often or visiting you might get your feelings hurt and leave a neg review, but if you live in the area you should understand what they are up against. read more

This is the pharmacy that we have been using for eight years. Tonight I had an appointment at 6 PM for my two young children and myself to have our booster shots. I had to go up and ask for times when someone was going to come they kept saying to wait a minute. I have now been waiting. 45 minutes. Absolutely acceptable. I realized I never wrote a review here. I go here occasionally to pick up drinks, snacks or your basic necessities such as body wash, soap, etc. If you have a CVS card, you can scan and save money. I always find a great deal here. There's a self check out as well as a cashier checking out your items. Don't forget to bring your recycled bag as they charge 10 cents for a plastic bag. This is located on University off the 805 free way. I came here once and SDPD arrested someone right in front of their parking lot. Talk about ghetto town. At least they are keeping this neighborhood safe. There's plenty of parking up front. I will continue to come here if I need anything. Very convenient if you are on this side of town. This is a complaint about a yong female pharmacist I think named Shahar who I spoke with this evening at 6:30. My vet called in an order and it wasn't in the system when I arrived, I spoke with the pharmacist at the consultation window and gave her my paperwork. She said it didn't show the number of pills. I (respectfully) showed her where it clearly said "misoprostol 200mg 8ct". She said "how do I know that ct stands for count?" I said, it's a common abbreviation, it means that there should be eight pills included in the prescription. She said well. You're only supposed to give a quarter of a pill at a time, so how do I know it's not supposed to be 8 quarters of a pill?, So 2 pills? This was completely ridiculous, but I managed to stay respectful. I said that doesn't make sense. It says eight count 200 mg pills. It doesn't matter what the dosage is, this is how many pills I'm supposed to get. So she asked me to call the vet, so I did, on speakerphone and the vet told her the exact same thing. 8 ct. means eight pills. The pharmacist had a terrible attitude the whole time. I don't know if she just hates her job or what, but she said okay and I hung up the phone, and then she said that the phone call wasn't valid because it was from my phone, and she had to use her phone. I thought she must be messing with me but I maintained composure. So I said okay. The number is right there on the prescription. Just call them and ask for the vet. She said I'll do it later, I'm busy. At this point, the vet was about to close in 15 minutes. I said okay but I've been waiting in line, and this should have already been called in, I have a sick animal in the car that I have to watch over constantly, as he was poisoned this morning. I said I need to make sure I get these meds before the vet closes. Can you please just call the vet. I just did it and it only took a few minutes and you were standing there listening the whole time. She got mad and said I'll do it when I have time. Have a seat. This was pretty upsetting but I complied and I went and had a seat, I watched about five more people talk to her, and then it was a few minutes to 7:00 and it was clear that she was taking out some kind of vengeance on me for no reason, probably self conscious for not knowing that ct means count. Basic stuff. So yeah she just created all these problems for me out of nowhere. I wasn't trying to be rude and I wasn't playing games, I had just spent all day worrying about my poisoned dog and had my bank account drained and now this person is creating problems out of nothing. I was feeling to stressed so I went up and asked for my paperwork back so I could go somewhere else. She thrust the papers at me and I asked for her name. She suddenly got really mad and look like she was going to flip out so I quickly turned and walked away. I've had to wait a long time here (40 mins when they said 10) before but never in my life have I had to deal with somebody with such terrible psychological issues that they have to create problems for respectful people. Just trying to fill a very important prescription. I will never go back to the CVS and probably never go back to any CVS. This person needs to be fired. read more

So, I went to this CVS one night when I needed something late around 2:30 am, and this was the only store open in my vicinity. I called and the automated answering machine stated 24/7, yelp says 24/7, and I looked on their website to be sure, which said 24/7. So I decided to take the 15 min drive over there and guess what...the 24/7 store didn't let me in. They had a computer printed sign saying "General Store Closed," which is hardly noticeable when entire door is covered with various signs and postings. The security guard on other side of door said only if you're picking up a prescription. I sat in my car for a bit and saw multiple people be let in and come out with cvs bags. That was about 4 weeks ago, the other night I decided to try again a little earlier (every source still says 24/7 just fyi) and they were open. I shopped around and went to self checkout when done. After ringing everything up, the register wasn't taking my card for some reason. Tried to get help and finally found someone about 5 to 10 minutes later and she tells me the registers are down now because the store has closed, if I needed a prescription I could go back there to purchase it. So pretty much...too bad. I kinda stood there a little shocked and told her I had been shopping around for past hour and now I can't purchase these things, she shrugged her shoulders and didn't even try to help me. Never did I hear even a warning that the store was closing, nor did anyone tell me it was closed...and still to this day I have no clue when the store actually closes and opens. Then I see various other people walk in and walk out having bought things, which I'm assuming included prescription-who knows! Please change your hours on phone, yelp, & website! It's very inconvenient to drive to your store and not be let in! It's kind of disappointing because I used to frequent this store when I lived down the street and always had a good experience and customer service. Man Covid has ruined the concept of "customer service" everywhere! read more

Where do I start: the only cashier disappeared and after waiting for over five minutes a supervisor came over who was not in uniform unless their new uniform is jeans and an adidas tshirt came over and basically yelled at everyone in line that if you didn't have alcohol to go through the self check out. I was the first person in line and as she insisted I use the self checkout I let her know that I had it rams with small barcodes and coupons and that always gave me trouble at the self checkout, she stated she would help me. Well the self checkout kept not reading the barcodes and wasn't registering me inserting the coupons so she decides to give me attitude(sighing loudly) that I need to make sure I'm inserting the coupon all the way, lady it's all the way in what else do you want me to do. Good place to fill up on meds. Friendly folks, and this location has a refrigerated section: ice cream. It's covid-19 season, so, not much else. Previously, there was cereal, milk, paper towels and toilet paper, the two types of alcohol: rubbing (to burn your skin if it was cut), and drinking ( to burn your throat as it goes down), face masks, gloves, hand sanitizers, and disinfectants. When this flu thing goes away, hopefully, they will stock those items again. read more

I'd have to agree with Andreena S. This place is freeeeeaaaakkkkyyyyyyy! I use to call it Scary Sav-On...but now I call it Crazy CVS. The people that go there are what makes this place scary. Although, I like to go in and observe because you can see some of the lowliest of lowlifes. And yes, most of the cashiers are a little gruff, but who wouldn't be considering what you had to put up with. I had a former student working here at one time. I hope she wised up and found something better. But if you need something in a hurry like a greeting card or Drano, this is a place you can go. Anyway, I'm just SO excited I've been asked to be a member of the Yelp Super Elite Squad, 1st Division, Fourth Battalion, Lot D (the "pineapple") that I can barely sleep anyway. So back to CVS. Does anyone know anything about CVS? For example, did you know that in the "Our Culture" section of their website there's a picture of some creepy white guy showing an Asian lady (but not too Asian!) the tea selections. Uh, hello? Like Asians would buy their teas from CVS? In North Park by the 805? I don't think so. But as a frequent visitor to this model of retail nirvana, I feel eminently (thank you, Yelp spellcheck!) qualified to discuss what an experience at this CVS is like. First of all, if anything other than the clean, well-lit generic retail experience suits your temperament, do NOT go here. If the odd design of the parking lot - handicap parking much? - doesn't drive you into the dark abyss of madness, than the ghetto fabulous entrance will. WTF, wash those steps already! Paint them! For Pete's sake, pulverize them into nanodust, but clean them the f*ck up already before I puke on them just like the last 245,000 people who bought cheap booze at your place then never made it to their cars after a night of drinking did. Once inside, though - and your senses have returned to normal after the visual assult of 15 billion megawatts of indoor lighting hitting your eyes all at once - you make your way into a reasonable clean, well-stocked store.. (Let's put aside the Bravo-like reality check you get from all the people on line intensely staring at you as you slink past the cashiers thinking: "They're judging me." The problem with these kinds of pharmacy-slash-potable type places isn't so much that it's a great place for a drag queen on a budge to shop or the front of the store can often times seem like a scene from Apocalypse Now (but not nearly as dangerous) but because they rarely sell more than two or three things you need - Beer? Check. Ridiculously expensive deodorant? Check. Inflatable seasonal pony raft? Check - and you can never just get in and out. It's always hurry up and wait. And the whole process is set up to inspire anxiety as we stand on this area of clearly unwashed red carpet tensely waiting for one of the colorless clerks to ring up our box of cereal. Do not go here. The pharmacists are very rude, the wait time can be up to three hours. My insurance was willing to fill an rx on the 18th and the pharmacist overrode it and said she wouldn't do it until the 22nd. Only go here if you like being treated like crap and waiting for ever for it. read more

I decided to change my Medi Care provider during the open enrollment period from kaiser to blue shield Medi-Blue and needed to switch to a CVS pharmacy. I chose this one because it's close to home but I've been very disappointed in their spotty service. I had 21 prescriptions to transfer and despite MANY calls after 2 1/2 months only 12 prescriptions have been transferred! I even called my old kaiser doctors and enlisted their help with refills but I still cannot get the balance of my prescriptions filled. I can't get them at kaiser because my account has been moved to CVS and they tell me that CVS has to call them but despite many many conversations and promises they still haven't transferred the 9 medications and I'm still going without them. The impression I have is that they say whatever they think you want to hear, hang up, and promptly forget the conversation! It seems that no one at CVS is committed to taking care of a new patient with lots of medications and give them the help they need! It's a shame because now I need to change my pharmacy AGAIN! read more

Another place I go to because it's only a 5 minute walk away. I go with my granddaughter to get snacks or drinks. Plus they have alot of clearance items that aren't always posted. I go to the one downtown so I make a mental note to remember them and go to this store. I hate that they are always trying to get you to use the self checkout. I have told them repeatedly that I don't like it nor do I want to use it. The people at the registers are either talking amongt them selves ignoring the line building up. Let's not even get started about how they treat you when you are making a return! They try and tell you it's too late to return them. Or that they can't take back cosmetics. Once I tell them to call the manger. Her tone changes. And states I'm going to do this one time so it's a one time only. Nope I have my receipts and the original boxes or packaging. The people that hang out in the parking lot and by the front doors are a different issue. CVS really needs to try to get them out from the front door. And as mentioned in another reviewer to deep clean and sanitize the front and those steps. The smell on a hot day is horrible!! My favorite CVS is in Horton Plaza. read more

This review is for the pharmacy and its staff. Every time I've used the pharmacy, the service has been prompt and efficient. Everyone on staff is kind, courteous, and competent. When I was having an issue with insurance covering a prescription, the lady (I wish I'd gotten her name!) told me exactly what to tell my doctor so I could get the prescription on time. I know this is probably CVS-wide, but I signed up to receive text messages when my prescriptions are ready. I haven't used a pharmacy before that has offered this service. Also, I don't know why I've never used a 24-hour pharmacy before. I transferred everything to this CVS and I'll never go back! read more

When I opened my stapled bag, I find 1/2 of our prescription! When I contacted the pharmacist right away, he was rude and unapologetic! Said they review the security footage and get back to us. NEVER DID! I kept called and was told every time that supervisor will review tapes and contact us. NEVER DID! My sense is they know how stole the drugs and are protecting them! I have been coming to this CVS ( store # 9141 ) for a couple of years now and have always had a pleasant experience. The staff is always helpful particularly in the pharmacy. The professionalism is much appreciated by all the pharmacy staff however there is 1 technician ( Jesus ) who stands out the most. Jesus's knowledge, professionalism and attentiveness is one like no others. He always greets me by name and is quick to answer any and all questions I may have and corrects any errors quickly and efficiently . He is knowledgeable in all areas of the pharmacy and stays focused on his work to ensure customer satisfaction. Jesus is truly an asset to the CVS family. read more
