Why does the pharmacy open so late. 10 am is late. Most pharmacies open at least by 8 or 9 a.m. I'm just saying.

I am always happy to visit my favorite store in any city but visited this location immediately after my first visit to SLO. My boyfriend and I were so excited about this weekend trip and didn't expect what would happen next. It was a Saturday afternoon on May 3, 2025-we skipped the self-checkout and got up to the counter to pay for a couple of items we didn't know we needed on this trip. I told the cashier, Eric, that I wanted to use my coupons and CVS ExtraCare membership. In a rude tone, Eric, said he had to finish ringing up the items and then he could apply the coupons. WHOA. I wasn't rude to him in the slightest, so I didn't understand nor appreciate his attitude. And told him so. He continued his rudeness. Toward the end, I had to remind him I wanted to use membership perks-he said I couldn't. I reminded him that my membership perks covered the amount I needed to pay. He knew they did and finally relented. I told him I would complain about him. Eric read my full name out loud that was displayed on my work badge attached to the key chain I was holding at the counter-said it in a menacing way as if to threaten me where I work. I told him that he was being very threatening and then he wouldn't give me my receipt until I answered his question. "How did I threaten you?" Finally, he gave me my receipt and in a loud voice told me to not come back and "Get the **** out of here!" Um, okay. This guy must have skipped his medication. There were people at the self-checkout near me and at least three people in line behind me as he was the only cashier. They all heard and stunned as I was. Cussed out by disgruntled CVS worker. read more

The team at this particular CVS pharmacy (717 Marsh St in SLO) is very special. On several occasions since we moved here 3 years ago, they (Kim, Angelica, Deb) have gone out of their way to ensure that my son with extraordinary needs ALWAYS gets his medications. His life depends on these medications so it's important to understand how much this means. There are times when there are hiccups with authorizations at the physician office or the insurance company but the staff at this location ALWAYS goes out of their way to make sure we get what we need. That is not required of them. The target cvs left us out in the cold without a care as well as the cvs on broad street. I've watched the staff here interact with the customers and they are always joyous and kind. I'm todays world, we need more of that. read more

The store is cool... but these days it all comes down to customer service. Now I get it. Corporate's trying to reduce cost with less customer service less employees to increase profit margins but by having an employee by like Christy really benefits this companies busimess business model exponentially she goes above and beyond to help her customers. read more

A very average and decent CVS in my opinion. I've never had a problem here. Sometimes the line can back up with only one register running. I like the convenience of the pharmacy and like the photo area a lot. I print a lot of my photos here and they do passport photos which has come in handy! Not the most stunning store ever but it gets the job done. read more

I've been a customer here since I was a little kid lol! This store consistently has friendly helpful staff, a good selection of just about anything you could possibly need from a drugstore and is so conveniently located it's no wonder they have been in business for so long! I have to mention however that because it is so well established and convenient the lines (particularly for prescriptions) can get very lengthy. Also, they don't seem to be in any hurry to keep that line moving. That said, I must also mention how appreciative I am that they still provide customers with a clean restroom! Love their cosmetic and hair care departments too, just sometimes things aren't always in stock. Overall, their selection, service and good prices are what keep me coming back! read more

I don't understand people's ratings of this CVS. Have to agree it's not amazing, but it's not different than any other CVS in the planet. We came here, my friend and I, both with a really bad cold. We needed cough drops, and any other medicine that could help us through the day. The pharmacist was very kind to show us all of the options available and help us choose the best one for our case. At the cashier, there was an older lady, probably in her 70s, being very polite and smiling to everyone. Sure she wasn't the fastest cashier in the world but I do appreciate a company that hires older employees and can work through their limitations. This is a 3-star experience for me. read more

I have excellent service from this pharmacy. Kim is always helpfu. She leads me to other pharmacy products, and helps me understand why they might help me. After a terrible fall, she showed me Arnica gel and told me many customers told her it helps prevents bruises when used as directed. My most significant bruises went away in 5 days! l The pharmacist is aware of my other maladies and makes sure I don't take a new medication that will affect others I am taking. Of course this should be standard procedure but at other pharmacies I may need to go to, I am not asked about other meds. They also provide fast service when they aren't overwhelmed with many customers or impatient people. CVS downtown is very professional and helpful. read more

For a consultation the "pharmacist" (morbidly obese guy, why is he in the health sector? It's like fat gym teachers.) read literally off of the paper attached to my medication when I was trying to ask a serious question. I got my answer on r/migraine on reddit instead from some lovely redditors. This was a while ago but the majority of pharmacists there are just surly and rude and I'm very tired of not being treated even half as nicely as I treat the people around me by someone at their JOB. Customer service should at least be civil and not a menacing glare like this one lady had the whole time and kept telling me to speak up when spelling my name for her. All pharmacies suck, but this one is especially awful. read more

I was VERY disappointed with the photo center here. I dropped off a disposable camera to be developed and the cashier had me fill something out, took the papers and the camera from me and said I was good to go. I was not handed a ticket for my photos, and this was my first time developing so I didn't know I needed one. He says they'll be done in 3 weeks, so I call in a month and keep calling every week. They keep saying the photos aren't done yet. Finally, one day (almost 3 months later) I call and they say they never had any record in any of their logs, and they have no trace of my camera or photos. They said without me having a ticket, they can't do anything to help me. Pretty upsetting that they lost my boyfriend's birthday photos. read more

Not all CVS pharmacies are alike. I transferred all my meds up to this pharmacy that is at least 20 minutes drive from my house because of the spectacular service. Kim at the pharmacy counter has gone way out of her way to take care of my rather unique situation. Never a complaint, always a smile, answers to all my questions. This is exactly what a professional pharmacy should provide their customers IMHO. read more

Hire as few people to work the store as possible so that much of the stock is a mess as it is impossible for the three employees in the store to keep up. Notify the customer when prescriptions and warn that they must be picked up soon. Then, when the customer shows up have he or she wait in a ten to twelve person line until the harried person manning the drug counter BY HERSELF herself can get to you. Okay pharmacy. One of the pharmacists there is completely wonderful. He wears funny ties and glasses to make people happy or smile when they come to pick up their prescriptions. Most of the other people who work in the pharmacy are friendly and kind too.....just over-worked. read more

Tried out this CVS pharmacy after the one on Madonna gave me problems. What should have been a simple 5 minute trip to the pharmacy turned into 45 minutes. The staff didn't know how to give me a $25 gift card for beginning a new prescription with them: an offer that was advertised on the wall. And when he asked the manager for help since she was on her break she came out and told me that i'd need to wait around until she was ready to help. The staff seemed irritated that the transaction was taking up so much time but CVS shouldn't offer promotions if they aren't going to train their staff on how to honor them. It ended up taking up my entire lunch break. i don't like to bash businesses but so far both CVS's i've been to in town have had the worst customer service i've ever seen at a business. read more

Not sure I agree with most of the reviews here but this CVS happens to be one of the most consistently well stocked and clean pharmacies from this company around. Perhaps it's all relative? We happened to be coming through one night looking for a specific OTC medication and we hopped in grabbed it quick. People around us were asking if we needed help. It was quiet and not many people were there making it easy to go in and out quickly. They have their own parking lot and it's all located in a place pretty close to downtown. I feel that those are the characteristics that make up a good place to shop. Did it wow me? I mean, not 5 stars worthy but definitely a solid 4 stars for what it is. read more

Looking for Elmer's glue for kids slime project. I bought the last two bottles ( generic brand) I guess it's hard to keep on the shelves. They have a decent parking lot but only like two registers so don't expect to get in and out quickly. Typical for this place. read more

This is the worst pharmacy I have ever been to. Every time I fill a prescription it takes the pharmacy staff at leave twice as long as it should. Not to mention the many "interesting" clientele who don't seem to think they should have to wait in line and cut straight to the front. I'm switching pharmacies ASAP! read more

I don't know if all CVS stores are like this one but I will never go back to this one. It is dirty and no one even acknowledges you exist. Terrible, terrible customer service. I went to the pharmacy for help on a product. There was no line so I moved directly to the counter. There was an employee directly on the other side of the counter from me. She did not look up or even glance at me. She walked away, got on the phone, and started eating something. Then a pharmacist came out to the counter. He glanced at me as he walked by but continued on. He went over to the other employee and gave her some food, then turned around, did not glance at me, and returned to the pharmacy booth. Then a minute or two later another pharmacist came out and the same exact thing happened, minus the food given to the other ploy. I was incensed! I couldn't believe that even after looking at me they didn't even have the decency to say "hello, we will be with you in a moment." I threw up my hands, muttered under my breath, and left the counter. I probably stood there in total while this took place for about 4". Not long, but long enough to know my business was not wanted. read more

The parking here is a joke. Literally can't fit my normal sized vehicle into their parking lot. Staff is miserable as well. At least try to pretend you don't hate your job. They rolled their eyes at me when I asked them if they had a specific product for allergies. Nice hiring guys. Place is a joke. Would never go back. Better off going to any other pharmacy drug store. Their pharmacy is almost always understaffed with a substantial line. If you're in a rush to get your meds, consider another pharmacy.

My husband and I visited this CVS on a recent Central Coast trip. He'd come down with a persistent sore throat and ensuing congestion, so we decided it'd be best to hit the CVS before doing anything further. We picked up some cold-fighting staples and bottles of water. I appreciated that the CVS had its own parking lot, so we didn't have to use the parking garage on Marsh. read more
