This CVS is next to Starbucks which is in the Marigold shopping center. We come here all the time when we need it because they have almost everything we need. The prices are slightly higher than other retailers, but you will save a lot with coupons or whatever they have on sale. For example: buy one get one free, or pay one dollar for the second item, or one item with 30% or 40% off coupons. My secret is that I downloaded the CVS app and got a membership card for the rewards program. You must check your email to confirm your coupons or rewards. Before shopping check the deals and coupons then add them to your card. As soon as in the store, print out the coupons then enjoy your shopping. The most important thing is that before completing your payment you must tell them you want to use the full boat to redeem your transaction. This review is for my elderly husband. He went into CVS today to pick up his prescriptions. They now have a new procedure that you have to use a computer screen to check in. Of course the computer couldn't find his name so the pharmacy clerk had to input his name. Then he had to verify on screen that she had the right person. Now this all took twice as long as when he just told the clerk his name and birth date. This process might be ok for computer literate people but for persons who do not spend all day on a computer or their phone it's very frustrating. In fact so that he is threatening to take his prescriptions to another pharmacy. At the same time, other people were having the same issue. read more

CVS need to post it's pharmacy hours, because the store can be open but the pharmacy is not. The pharmacy closes for lunch and CVS doesn't tell you this. It's pretty inconsiderate to misinform customers who are trying to pick up prescriptions. Post the actual hours / days that the pharmacy is open and please stop wasting our time. read more

I used the live down the street from this CVS. I was visiting in town today & stopped by here for some travel sized items. They always have a great selection here with anything really. I stop by the CVS pharmacy here in San Luis Obispo on Tank Farm in the corner of this big plaza. It's a really organized store with all the aisles and sections labeled with signage. This made this very easy to find items that I needed. I was able to head towards the department I was looking for and was able to go to the section that I needed to fairly quickly. Then it took some time to actually find the actual item that I needed. The pharmacy is way in the back of the store like most CVSes are set up. Overall, everything was fairly standard and I wouldn't expect anything less. The team here is kind and it's consistent here. Parking is fairly easy to fine. There are lots of spots here so it's easy to get a close spot. read more

This rating is the average of a 5 -- for when I have completely routine business -- and 1 -- when there is something a little out of the ordinary to deal with. I also give CVS a 1 for the way that they are constantly hounding you to put your prescriptions on auto-refill, or defaulting to automatic for any new prescription. This becomes extremely inconvenient when you have many different prescriptions expiring at different times and are expected to make a special trip for each one. Recently I got two vaccinations at CVS, done by a very pleasant young woman who is apparently their new pharmacist (the turnover there is mind-boggling.) When I got home, there was an email verifying my new vaccinations, as well as a bunch of other information about me -- including an INCORRECT record of my primary care doctor, who I changed almost a year ago. I tried to correct the mistake on the CVS website, but couldn't, so I called the number listed for making corrections to online records. Over the course of almost an hour, I was bounced around to different extensions and repeatedly told "We can't do that, but I'll transfer you to the department that can." Finally I was told that my information could only be changed by the local CVS pharmacy. But when I called and politely asked them to correct my records, I was told that they could only change their listing of my primary care doctor when they received a prescription from him -- which of course they already had. They insisted on keeping the old, wrong record intact, which will undoubtedly lead to further confusion down the road. So this is the kind of bureaucratic, left-hand-doesn't-know-what-the-right-hand-is-doing service you are likely to get if there's something a little out of the ordinary to deal with. I know, they are probably sick and tired of dealing with cranky old people and just want to "manage" them as quickly as possible, but the attitude rubs off when they are dealing with perfectly reasonable requests, too. Look at the reviews here, note the ratio of 1-star to 5-star ratings, and consider whether there isn't a reason for that. read more

Too bad there is no rating of Zero stars. That's what CVS Pharmacy at Broad St. deserves. Had an appointment (for which I arrived at the exact time) for Covid Booster & Shingles vaccines. 1st, the person behind the pharmacy counter ignored me for a while and finally when I started walking to the other end of the counter He asked me, How he could help me. After explaining what I was there for, without any regret and on the contrary on an rude way I was told the pharmacist was out to lunch and I had to come back in 30 minutes. I mentioned I had a confirmed appointment to which he responded, well pharmacist has to take lunch every day and you have 2 options: come back in 30 minutes or re-schedule for other time. No apology whatsoever and on the contrary very supportive of pharmacist not being for the appointment. This Pharmacy has no Customer Service at all. read more

I get it, this place is busy, tons of prescriptions to fill. Guess what other businesses do when they're always busy? They hire more help, try it sometime! Continually the worst pharmacy in town. Always backed up pharmacist who make me feel I am bothering them pickup up a prescription. Today after waiting 10 min to consult for a flu shot the pharmacist said "we are just to busy, please come back some other time" No smile, no thank you, just blank stare. How about I never come back. A pretty much generic CVS Pharmacy. This one very conveniently located in downtown San Luis Obispo. The only thing that makes this CVS Pharmacy stand out is that it is not located in a generic strip mall. The store stocks all the things every other CVS Pharmacy does. DO NOT USE THIS PHARMACY If I could give this pharmacy zero stars I would. I ordered my prescriptions after being in the hospital all morning... I drop them off at 10:30 AM and the consultant told me they would be ready in an hour and I would receive a text. 12:00 no text, so I call. They then proceeded to tell me that they didn't have my prescription. Then they told me that it was filled and their system was down and they would call me. Then they told me that they were in meetings with corporate It is 3:00 and they are still telling me that my prescription is unavailable. Had a weird problem with a prescription. The pharmacist solved it and filled it within 20 minutes. I was shocked. They understood the issue and tackled it without any excuses or delay. Right now during Covid 19 we cannot bring our cloth bags into the store. The cashier asked if I wanted a bag and I replied yes. He then shoved everything into a too small bag. I ended up carrying out some items separately. Just give me a large bag. To fit my items. When I got home I looked at my 4' receipt and saw I got charged for a bag. I'm not one for needing or using perscriptions but I had laser eye surgey and had to pick up all manner of eye drops and things. I walked in and told the guy at the counter I had no idea how to do anything and he walked me through the whole process and was super nice. I waited about 30min and while there was a really long line, after they called my name I went up and picked up what I needed. No issues. I do tend to some in for random headache medicine or sports tape and band aids, they have all the stuff I need. It's a bit of a sad store, but the staff are always nice and the place is really quite clean. read more

The two people working Broad St. CVS tonight are rock stars (sorry that I didn't catch your names). They are extremely understaffed at the moment, and going above and beyond to try to get everyone's needs met (which explains why I couldn't get through on the phone). You two get 5 stars without hesitation... and you got me to edit my 1 star rating from earlier. On the whole I think that CVS needs to take a hard look and make some systemic changes to their service delivery, so my rating overall is 3 stars, but don't let that take away from the 5 star workers this evening. read more

Horrible experience at the pharmacy. No one was working during business hours who could give me a TDAP vaccine, even though they advertise that they can do shots. The person said he "wasn't certified" to give shots even though it's a pharmacy. Additionally, their lines are always long and not clearly labeled. I waited in line for 20 minutes only to be told I went to the wrong line. And lastly, the person working the pick up area today was extremely rude (which is why I'm even writing this review in the first place). She acted like I was stupid for the questions I asked and her tone with me (and other patrons) was short and impatient. My goodness this CVS Pharmacy has continuously exhibited the lowest level of professionalism, customer service, and operation I have ever seen. I'm confident the only reason they are still in business serving customers is because there are so few other pharmacies in SLO. While I have never used this pharmacy, my wife has a condition that can be life-threatening without a medication that they don't always have in stock. This pharmacy manages to do something wrong at least half the time. I've gone with her numerous times and their customer service is a hit-or-miss depending on who you get. I've seen them give the wrong prescription, incorrect amounts, not have it in stock when they said they did, and not give the full order if I am picking up the prescription for her. Most recently, Janet, was at the counter when I arrived; she made eye contact, did not acknowledge me, and continued checking out the woman who was at the counter in front of me. She was checking out her entire shopping cart while her dog walk around the counter. The other pharmacy workers didn't take notice, say anything, or acknowledge me. I stood in line for 10 min while items were taken from the cart and were spread across two counters. After she slowly packed up her purchase and left the counter, Janet moved left the counter and started doing something else before acknowledging me. When she called me up she took my wife's name, entered it in the computer, and moved away to get the prescription. When she came back she did offer for me to see the pharmacist as she completed the transaction - one positive. Since she walked off, I took the receipt myself, said goodnight, and left. When I got home my wife said it was the wasn't the whole prescription - they didn't fill the prescription she needs to survive! She called and they said they didn't have any in stock - they said none of this to me. The pharmacist looked around and said they had a few samples she could have until the medication arrived. My wife went back and got the entire prescription filled. Why didn't they fill it when I was there, look for it, or say they didn't have it in stock? Why didn't they tell my wife the truth? This is a poorly run pharmacy. This was a big waste of our time. They hardly provided customer service to me and did not check the order when I was there. To my wife they told her they didn't have any in stock but then happened to find a whole bottle for her when she arrived. This is unacceptable and there should be a zero stars option. read more

No other organization has created the amount of stress and fear in my life then CVS Pharmacy on Marsh in San Luis Obispo. I am a chronic pain patient. I've had both spinal surgery, owner surgery, heart surgery, foot surgery related to polio four times and other issues too numerous to mention. Every time I have used this Pharmacy I have to be very careful that they don't decide arbitrarily simply to not fill a pain prescription medication. They don't bother to notify me when they have done this. They usually wait till myself or my wife show up at the door to collect my medication to tell me that they have decided for one reason or another to Halt this prescription. The last time my wife showed up and they treated her like a drug addict or Thief. The pharmacist herself was rude demanded that my wife return prior filled prescriptions. When she brought those prescriptions do the pharmacy the pharmacist in front of everyone for them out on the table and started them out to make sure that my wife had not somehow cheated her. It caused another delay in me getting the prescriptions that I desperately need for pain. I get about 15 medications at this drugstore. My relationship is now over with them. Even though I really like some of the helper people who helped out in the pharmacy. I will not be treated like a criminal and I will not my wife so treated either. I will use Rite-Aid I will find a better drug store. If you're on some kind of pain meds please make sure you stay away from these people. Oh and by the way I just shattered my arm 1 month ago and had to get extra pain medication. The pharmacist would not allow this. Even though the surgeon and the hospital were well aware that I had other pain medication and used it sometime for breakthrough pain. She did not tell me she was not going to allow this until again my wife showed up at their door. I needed hydrogen peroxide for an emergency, and instead of helping me find the product, the old lady working on 07/14 at 9pm decided to follow me from a distance and then stop me OUTSIDE of the store after I've paid to see my receipt. She made some excuse saying the self-service machine "didn't register that I paid" which was obviously a lie. It's late, I'm cold, and I'm visibly upset and in a hurry, the last thing I need is for some stupid Karen to accuse me of stealing as I'm already out of the store trying to rush back home. read more

Most people filling prescriptions are impatient and quick to be rude. I sat here with my sick daughter and watched every one coming through this place be quick and rude. Have been using this pharmacy for 10 years, was good until the last time I was there, the pharmacist CHANGED my prescription because she thought I didn't need the amount of medication my doctor had ordered. I was going to this pharmacy for years. But recently the people have changed and the service has gotten terrible. I was in the hospital and they were trying to get my meds set up. They called the pharmacy and were on hold 30 mins! The nurse finally gave up. So then my husband tried and was also on hold for 30 mins before he hung up. My husband finally walked in with the prescription in hand for something I had to take with in an hour. They told him there was no way they were going to have it ready. We drove over to Vons and filled it there. I will not be using CVS pharmacy on Broad again. Too bad. It was a great place until the new people took over. Now, about their CVS card and the coupons you get in the mail. I got a 30% coupon in the mail and waited until I had my full list to go shopping because I really wanted to take advantage of my "great" coupon. I went shopping and carefully picked out everything that was not on sale, because the coupon will not work for anything on sale. I go to the counter to check out and she tells me everything is "buy one and get one 50% off" and so the coupon will not work. First of all, I am only buying one of each item, therefore I am not getting a second one at 50% off, therefore it is not on sale. Secondly not one of the items were marked as that on the shelf. I was very careful to pick items not on sale. I left everything on the counter and walked out of the store. I am just disgusted with this store. They do NOT answer the phone, it puts you on hold for between 15-30 minutes and they still won't answer... even when the pharmacy has no one waiting, I've done my homework.. Not happy w/cvs pharmacy this month I DEPEND on the pharmacy to text me when my pills are ready to be picked up and I received NOTHING from them on the 13th when my pills were ready and now I'm picking them up 2days LATE partially my fault bcuz I should know when I NEED my prescription but I take SO MANY pills that sometimes I NEED to be reminded and as far as I'm concerned CVS dropped the ball this month I will NEVER depend on them EVER again to text me!!! I will set alarms and reminders for myself when I NEED my pills .
