Horrible. I said that my Dr. had called in the Rx and they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. They checked the fax, they computer, but for some reason, they didn't check the voicemail and that's where it ended up being. Doesn't a phone call go to voicemail?? They did not relate the phone call to the voicemail. Um. ?? A couple of days later, I needed antibiotics and went in to pick up my Rx 2 hours after the Dr. had phoned it in and it wasn't ready. They told me to call back. I called later and they couldn't find it. I waited 4 hours and it still wasn't ready. This pharmacy is incompetent, inefficient, too busy, and ineffective. I've only been there twice, but it's the last 2 times I will ever be there! read more

Terrible. Made me feel like I was breaking the law. After I made them give me the prescription back I went too Safeway and filled it no problem. It wasn't even for me. When you need medication do not go here. They should be ashamed. read more

The store is ok -- a little disorganized but not horrendous. I get prescriptions filled here and they seem to be mired in some random bureaucracy that sometimes requires me to have to come back the next day. The photo service is off the charts BAD. I haven't used this type of photo service before for years, but I wanted to create a photo-based gift for my boyfriend over the holidays. I had to come back to this CVS three times in one day to try to pick up the photos I ordered online. I kept receiving notifications that the order was ready, drove over there, then the clueless people behind the counter couldn't find it and told me to come back later until I finally gave up on the third try. Ruined my Christmas gift, won't be coming back here again. read more

I gave CVS two stars initially and now I take that back! If I could give zero stars for the establishment, I would. I went to CVS on mission street with mom and grandma because they needed to get some soap. All three of us walked in and walked out. This store went from worse to horrid. They now don't sell matches?! Half the shelves are empty. And this was the topper of the night....We walked in to get a basket. No carts or baskets. The cashier said they only have four baskets. Don't expect your meds to be filled on time. They say an hour expect 2-3. And guess what you get there and wow still not filled, you have to wait. This pharmacy is continuously understaffed. review for Pharmacy- I had so many bad experiences when it was Longs, i couldnt wait for Safeway to open to switch my prescriptions, but once it turned to CVS, i dont know, its been so much better, they are way faster, and nicer. Maybe they are still under corporates hawk eyes, but i think the service is better. also, who cares about the carpet, yeah, the store doesnt look as nice, but they have most of the same stuff. Yes, I also miss Longs, and until today didn't have anything positive to report about CVS. I found one redeeming factor, though: This CVS carries Florastor. It's the best probiotic there is! When I have to take antibiotics it never fails to save me from trouble, i.e. upset stomach. Most drug stores don't carry it, I suspect because it's manufactured by a smaller company instead of a major drug company. CVS has it ready on the shelf for a reasonable price. Pharmacy never has enough staff. One night 15 people in line, one clerk. We didn't stick around. Phones not answered, prescriptions not ready, etc. Then one day the phone was answered by someone who asked me to hold, but I said wait a minute. I asked, Are you working alone. The answer was yes, and unbelievably she was the pharmacist! Answering phone, working the counter and don't know if she could fill prescriptions. The last straw was a few days later when a clerk answered the phone and she was alone, really alone because there was NO pharmacist! read more

I have to go to the pharmacy often. Over the years, I have stood in line and discussed how horribly run the pharmacy department is run, but today was the cherry on top for why I will never go back to CVS. The store is empty, like usual. The line for the pharmacy has two people in front of me. I notice an attendant that I have never seen before, but it is obvious she hates her job. When the young woman finally got to the counter, the attendant rudely tells her that the order could have been delivered, despite the Young woman having purchased other items. The woman was born in 1996 (hepa ?) she knows she can order online. I thought she was speaking rudely to her because she was young. The attendant let all of us know she did not want to touch anything that we touch. When it was my turn, she told me right away and very rudely that my prescription would have already been delivered to me. She was not kind and not respectful, but she sure didn't want a taste of her own medicine. She called me rude! I wanted to speak to the manager and she claimed she was the manager. She also let me know that she would transfer my prescriptions right there, on the spot. Good job cvs, I have no idea how you stay in business. I rarely see the same workers. I went to Walgreens and Safeway and both stores were wonderful. Bye bye cvs, I will never cross your threshold. read more

After several recent visits, I was optimistic that the problems with this pharmacy brançh were being resolved. Yesterday, I was brought back to reality! I entered the pick up line with only 1person ahead of me. He was the chatty type, and needed lots of instructions. I stepped up to the window and began my request. The clerk Nancy stated I only had one script. Upon my Insistence, she directed me to the drop óff line. I was told my script was not covered under my insurance. When I stated I would pay for it, this clerk yelled it will take an hour because the pharmacist is out to lunch. She seemed gleeful that I was being inconvenienced. As I turned out leave, another lady who was in the pickup line and had been promised her meds would be ready an hour ago was told "That was another pharmacist, she's gone and this pharmacist is out to lunch, come back in 45 minutes.. There seems to be a total lack of empathy for the customers. C'est la vie! read more

This is a review of their pharmacy and not the retail store. In our experience the pharmacists seem knowledgeable and helpful as do the non-pharmacy retail staff. However we seem to have an issue every time we go in to pick up a prescription that was called in earlier. Even when they call us and say the order is ready for pickup! No matter what time of day we seem to always wind up waiting in long lines only to find out that there was some issue on their end filling the prescription and we would still have to wait another 15-20 minutes while they filled it. There was one cashier behind the pharmacy that no longer works there that was notoriously bad and seemed to frustrate most people in line. But even with her gone it hasn't improved much. The final straw for us was when they ignored a prescription request from our doctor because there was some mix-up with the first name on the prescription. Instead of following up they just deleted the request from their system. This was an important prescription we needed that day and we had given them plenty of time to fill it. To add insult to injury after CVS figured out what happened they told me that I would have to call my Dr.'s office back and have them resubmit the request. All this for their error and it caused a delay of several hours for pain medication that was needed urgently. The problem is with management not recognizing or caring that there is a problem with their pharmacy. It's like they need a Gordon Ramsey for pharmacies to come in and whip them into shape. I do not take pleasure in writing a negative review but I would like to warn my neighbors about using this pharmacy. Hopefully this CVS can improve since it is one of the only pharmacies on the West Side. read more

I live upper westside and walk a lot so this store is not only easy access and its open until midnight I have nothing but praise for the manager in the evenings as she is helpful and the clerks always greeting you as you enter One night I dropped in to pick up some things it was about ten pm I left my wallet change purse with all of my cards and about 300 dollars in it I called the next day as I just assumed I had put it back in my pack but it was not there I called the store thinking that it would be unrealistic to expect to get it back but perhaps the cards and my license would be turned in The manager (woman in charge) went to the safe and took out my wallet change purse and I am happy that the cards and then to find that the money was all intact meant they had a loyal customer for life The evening night crew is great and they deserve commendations for being a cut above It is my store and these guys are the freatest I have never been worried or had any problem with the lot being unsafe I love the new design and the variety I am an RN and have never had an error in a prescription fill and had to wait at the most a half hour for a drop in RX The people on the pm crew One has been there for years and the others are new but vigilant and helpful As a supervisor I would say I have not noted much of what is written here The fact that they are honest and helpful and cheerful means everything read more

Regarding the pharmacy: After 4 years of patronage, our family is done with this place. 4th RX botched in a row, I'll spare further details, the other reviews have pretty much covered it - pretty amazing mixture of incompetence, lack of professionalism and rudeness (the young female pharmacist working the daytime shift on Dec. 28, 2012 apparently doesn't grasp privacy and HIPPA regulations). This is the worst pharmacy in town!! I have had so many negative interactions here. They seem to hire people with bad attitudes and a low tolerance for stress. Every time I go in they need to update my insurance, I have worked at the same job with the same insurance for 3 years. So why do they need to do updates every month? They are always rude about it like I messed up somehow. I average 30 minutes of waiting after they have texted saying a prescription is filled. Save yourself the pain of dealing with these folks! Firstly, I don't shop here often because I don't like the selection of items. It's completely generic, so there is no reason to choose this store over, say, Walgreen's on Laurel Street or any other CVS that is equidistant from my house. I DID however go there tonight to get money orders, because CVS has a good price on money orders. All my life, I have bought money orders in Santa Cruz at either Long's Drugs (no longer in existence) or Albertson's (no longer in this county) and they were always sold at a separate counter, not in the regular check-out line. CVS actually has a separate counter where they could wait on people who want money orders, for the sake of Safety and Privacy --common sense. I went to that counter, but as per usual, there was nobody there, and nobody came to ask what you needed. So I went to the line and asked the cashier if I could get a money order at the other service counter, (like the last forty years at that store when it was Long's Drugs.). She politely informed me that I needed to go thru her line. Okay. So I'm in a line of people and announce that I want fifteen hundred dollars in money orders. Standing next to me was a young man who reeked of alcohol and was standing real close to my personal space, so of course, he could hear every word I said. So could everyone else in the line - and they were especially paying attention, because the cashier was having trouble with tnowhe transaction and holding the line up. I'm thinking, "Now any thief in the vicinity of this attentive line knows that this cashier has $1500 in cash in her drawer--because everyone knows you have to pay for money orders in cash. And if there happens to be someone in the vicinity who knows how to rob people of money orders and go cash them right away, they can easily hear the transaction and follow me outside." The nice young woman who was my cashier, did not know the first thing about money orders. I asked how much they cost. She asked the other cashier on duty - he said 4.95. (They cost a lot less than that). I told her I needed one for a thousand dollars and she didn't say, "You need to buy two for five hundred dollars"." So I asked her if I have to buy two for five hundred, since I was still trying to figure out what the fee was going to be. She didn't know. She finally, after calling the manager for help, completed my three money orders - it took ten minutes of trial and error. After buying them, I went to to the service area where money orders used to be sold. There was a worker there and I politely asked her to get the manager for me. Just then the manager walked by, so she called her over. I told her my concerns, and immediately she rolled her eyes as soon as I opened my mouth. I was being nice and polite - but she was letting me know right away that there was something wrong with me to even talk about this - much less to the manager. So I counsel against this store. This store is a perfect example of why brick and mortar stores are being replaced by Amazon. At this CVS, you can never count on their inventory. You find a desired product one day, but two weeks later it is gone and out of stock. Moreover, their shelves are often bare of essentials. Case in point, I went in to buy AAA batteries and gum. Simple stuff that every local store should carry. For two days, nothing on their shelves. To the credit of the staff, they did look into their backroom inventory. However, the young lady helping me said that there was too much stuff in the stacked up inventory to locate what I needed. On another trip, there were zero staff at the checkstands. Seriously, one stand open but no checker. All of us waiting in line should have just walked out with our stuff, but we were too honest to do so. Advice on this store, don't ever count on finding what you need. This is especially troubling given that it is the only large drug store in West Side Santa Cruz. read more

They get one star for hours of operation. However, their pharmacy is so unorganized, that the last 3 times I went to pick up a prescription ... It wasn't ready ! The phone system allows you to enter a pick-up time, but it's completely useless. Plan on a 20 minute wait, if you're lucky, and they will fill it on a rush basis (while making lame excuses about how busy they've been recently). Bottom line, as with most of these type stores - very poor management. read more

Have been going to this location for all my prescriptions for many years... long before it became the shell of a drugstore that Long's was prior to CVS purchasing. But I've reached my limit. Waited for 1.5 hours last night for a prescription to be filled! I do not blame the staff. They are working hard and tirelessly, both clerks and pharmacists. I blame the management. I have told the local manager time and again to please pass on to whomever it is making staffing decisions that the pharmacy rarely answers their phones in a timely manner, lines are rarely shorter than 3 persons and often as long as 10, and waits are nearly always long... COMPLETELY UNDERSTAFFED. My husband waited tonight for another of my prescriptions and when he reached a clerk, she said she was sorry but it was not in their system... no record of my doctor having it sent in. So yeah... that's it... moving my prescriptions over to Costco. read more

Holy crap. I never leave reviews because I work in a restaurant and people bitch about the dumbest things. But when you go in to pick up a prescription, and you are sent away multiple days in a row because they don't have it despite saying they would. This isn't telling someone you're out of clam chowder. It is medicine. C'mon man. I also witnessed at least 5 other people who were very upset because they either didn't have their prescription after coming back on the second day, or just had to wait in multiple different lines after being jerked around for over an hour. The level of incompetence here is appalling. I suggest going ABSOLUTELY ANYWHERE else. Oh and as I stand here writing this review, I've FINALLY been helped and the guy helping me is shouting to his coworkers that he has to go on lunch.....and now he has left. Good gravy this is crazy! This pharmacy is by far the worst one I've been to. I go here because its convenient. I'm a student and don't own a car. I can't drive across town to another place. Anyway, they've lost my insurance information just about every time I've been there to pick up a prescription. That is in no way helpful because almost every time I go there I'm forced to wait in two separate lines. Not to mention they're way too understaffed, all the time. This used to be a great store when it was Longs. Since they changed ownership, the selection of health-related items has really been pared down to mainly CVS brand items. Most of the time that I shop there I find 1 or 2 (at best) out of 5 items that I'm shopping for. Also, their prices are through the ceiling on many items--e.g. Haagen Dasz is almost $5 a pint! More and more, I'm having to shop online for health-related items because of their poor selection. read more
