If you like zero communication and wrong information - read that as lies - this is the place. No wonder their floor space has been reduced by 1.5 stores. Dropped off my bike for tune up and replacement of worn parts. Got a cryptic text quoting 2 different prices and no explanation for the difference - called and got it straightened out. No Contact by the evening it was supposed to be ready so I texted them 1 hr 45 min b4 close to see if it would be done on time. Got a text saying part is en route from their warehouse and bike would be ready. 20 min b4 close I text again - No Response. Texted again next afternoon thinking maybe they didn't get the part till morning. No Response. Called and they said they would check if the part was there. No Call Back. Running errands so I stop in to check. Turns out the part was not at their 'other warehouse', they had to order it from a supplier. Not only did they lie about the part status, wouldn't listen to what I was saying, but 3x asked me if I 'wanted to take my bike'. After walking out I decided if someone is going to offer me taking my business elsewhere, I should probably take them up on it and went back in to get my bike. Got a voicemail trying to explain miscommunication. 10 days later receive text they finally received the part (that was supposedly at their warehouse) and an offer to 'make it right' so I responded requesting bringing my bike in on Fri of that wk - once again No Response. Call them to follow up on getting my bike fixed and said it would be the following week. I guess spending $1,000 on a bike isn't enough to deserve even mediocre service after the sale. 3 wks and my bike still isn't fixed. read more

I've been here a couple times for minor fixes and every time the staff is super helpful and friendly. A tire fix is generally $18 and is done in about 4 minutes. They do have a large selection of bikes so I know that when it comes time to replace mine this will be one of the first places I come to, simply because I like to support local when I can, especially if they are easy to work with. read more

Great shop and helpful staff. We came in looking for a specific bike and were advised to try a few different ones. They helped us find a better bike than we thought was available. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff! They also put on the kickstand and water bottle holder, and helped us load the bikes in our truck. I truly love this shop. Joe, Tony, and rest of the gang are extremely friendly and helpful and aren't the least bit pushy. The shop is pretty popular so be patient on weekends if there's a busy crowd in the store. Your wait will be rewarded. They have a wide selection of bike brands and models and can quickly order whatever you want. I've purchased three bikes from them the past two years, plus a fair amount of clothing and accessories. I've also introduced friends to the shop who also fell in love with them. One lives in Topeka and now makes the drive whenever she needs anything bike related. The shop is large and roomy. It's also in a great location that's easy to find, has a decent area for testing a bike, and has the added benefit of being close to Nick & Jake's Restaurant where you can ponder your purchase over a great meal and brew. I strongly encourage folks to give this shop a try, especially if you live in the Northland. If you live elsewhere, it's quickly accessible from anywhere. Lastly, if you're wondering if I work for the shop the answer is NO. Really enjoy working with the team in this store. Their knowledge is very helpful on multiple levels. I was training for a 400 mile Tour of Colorado ride this past summer. They had all the gear I needed, and the owner even let me borrow his seat post carry all. It worked out great as I was able to carry all my rain gear, food and tools. They've always helped me keep my bikes in tip top shape, always have great clothes and accessories, and they carry a nice assortment of bikes. The people here are very nice and helpful. They greet you when you enter but give you space to browse, and aren't constantly hovering around you like vultures on prey. However, when you need help they are right there and ready. Quite kind and know what they're talking about. You have questions even if you are not going to buy that day but are looking for something they take the time to answer all your questions and show you exactly what you're looking for. They have a wide selection of items so it is easy to find what you're looking for. They do not try and pressure you into any sales and didn't try and sell me more then what I was looking for. Without previous experience on gravel, I landed into Cycle City asking for a rental bike for the Dirty Kanza 100. Joe set up the perfect bike for the race, renting me one of his personal bicycles (the one he used for the Great Divide betw. Canada and Mexico). The machine was way beyond my expectations (titanium frame, carbon fork, DI2 XTR...) and at a phenomenal price (I had to ask whether the quote was for one day or the full weekend... it was for the latter!!). I also needed a longer stem and they changed it on the spot. With 13+ years of experience at the DK (including a 3rd position on the DK XL last year) Joe was able to share enormously insightful recommendations for me to successfully face the challenge. Finally, he accommodated for the bike return at my convenience on a Sunday evening. In conclusion, my experience working with them was excellent and I strongly recommending Cycle City!! read more

I purchased a El Mariachi from this store about 3 months ago and still haven't received all of the "extras" that were suppose to come with the bike. I recently received a carbon Enve fork as a gift. I took the bike and fork to the shop to have to fork cut and head set installed. The owner was going to put a cheap metal headset on my carbon fork, I refused and asked them to order a carbon headset. Over 3 WEEKS LATER I still had not heard any word from the store regarding my bike. I went to the store and the owner claims he "ordered the wrong headset" and asked if I wanted the other back on there. I said yes, thinking he would simply install the original fork because he was aware I did not want metal on carbon. When he comes back with my bike, he had installed the cheap metal headset on my CARBON EVNE fork!!!! So now my carbon enve fork that cost nearly as much of the bike is scratched and virtually ruined. I will never do business at this shop EVER again and strongly recommend no one else does either. read more

I've ridden a Fuji 12 speed since 1977. For at least the past 4 years, Cycle City has performed annual minor tune-ups, replaced worn-out parts, and fixed broken parts after crashes. Over those 39 years of use that bike around the world, I have never been more pleased than I have with Cycle City. Everyone is a professional and very conscientious. Front desk service has always been friendly, patient, and courteous. The mechanics are top-notch; my bike is like new after every tune-up, which is always very thorough. The price has always been exceptionally reasonable. My bike has always been ready when promised, even in the busiest spring months. In winter, turnaround is almost immediate. This year the quality of their work was as high as ever--a quality tune-up, and replacement of brake hoods, a new cyclometer, and new handlebar wrapping. The owner had to do a lot of research to find out how to order the brake hoods for my "vintage" bike; they are a perfect fit. As long as the current ownership remains, I will always take my bike to Cycle City in Parkville. read more
