He spent 15 minutes or so with me and said he thought it was fine. He is very knowledgeable and it was really nice of him too stop work for a little bit and give me a bit of peace of mind aheae of my trip. I then made an appointment for an oil change, new tires and fork seals, and some brake work. Unlike many bike shops they make appointments, and will work on any bike of any age. My husband had trouble putting one of them on so we brought it here and were told when we had to leave it there that the cost is usually $40. The template pieces were all laid out, but that was it. Co-founder Luke had me read and sign all the releases first, and asked about my experience with welding etc. Being a Veteran myself, Luke as well, and the non-profit supporting Veterans and First Responders, he also made sure to ask me if loud noises or anything would bother me. Every step was explained and demonstrated before I was able to do it, and as nervous as I was at first, it quickly went away knowing he took my safety, the safety of others as well as their shop very seriously. Co-founder Ben also provided some muscle when I was unable to bend the metal myself. In just over 2 hours I had sanded, measured, re-measured, bent , hammered and welded together a really cool one of a kind 5-sided barn star. Phil diagnosed, repaired and tuned the bike to perfection. I have since been back many times with other vintage bikes for tuning, tires, etc. Phil has been in the business for many years and the place is packed with vintage bikes and parts dating back 60-70 years. Did not refill coolant!! I brought my bike from 2 hours away for a regular service. Asked to flush…read moreand replace coolant and brake fluid. Their is no coolant visible in the reservoir. Luckily I towed it home or I might not have made it! Very disappointed for having paid $600 for them to do a general inspection and change of fluids. Billed me 2 hours labor plus parts ($235!!) to change coolant and brake fluid!!! Poor quality of work at a premium!! Didn't even receive a copy of the 60 point inspection checklist, not sure if that was done. When checking out I was also told that they tested my battery and that it only reported 400cca and may need to be replaced soon as they like to see the batteries between 800 and 1000 CCA!!! (more than my truck battery!). Now that I am home I have looked at the battery to find it is only rated at 230 CCA new. I scheduled this appointment months in advance to be ready for my trip next week. I could have and should have done better myself. Decided to pay a "professional" for peace of mind. Left with more worries than I started with.
