I normally shop via the Cycle Gear website but it's nice to have a physical location nearby in order to try on gear, especially helmets. All the times I have been at this location, the staff have been helpful and knowledgeable for the gear that I am looking at. I took some time to try on different helmets as it was time for me to replace my older helmet. The female staff member approached me and kindly offered some selections of helmets, adding the benefits of each. I used to also go to their old location north of 84 on El Camino, and I am extremely glad they moved to this location. Much larger space and very modern look for a Cycle Gear. Parking is also very easy as there is plenty of space in the back lot but also some easy parking right in front of the store. Thank you once again! read more

I've been to this Cycle Gear twice now, and honestly, both times have been nothing short of a joy. The customers are very friendly, but the most impressive thing is how helpful, nice, and patient pretty much all of the staff have been. I'm brand new to all of this, and an old guy, so of course I'm intimidated by everything, especially these kids who can rip up the streets, while I'm hoping to start putt-ing around on my bike. So thanks for making me feel comfortable in this whole thing. First, whomever is running this location must do a fantastic job because everyone here seems to enjoy their work. (I'm sure the whole motorcycle thing helps, too.) The two times I came in, I was one of those jerks who comes in RIGHT at closing. But, both times, every employee was kind and gracious in answering my novice questions. Cam and Owen (I think this is his name. Funny guy! He just needs to work on that Sedici pronunciation. Or NOT, actually--I how his way sounds) were very informative and patient (and funny, but still professional, ya know?) Both Cam and Owen were eager to help me, thank you! And they both made me feel like I was ready to at least sit on my bike. The second time I came in was, gladly, more expensive f the same! This time it was Soren and Ethan who helped me out. Again, I popped in at close because ‍. But they were both very patient, kind and helpful. Soren installed my Cardo! I was able to size a jacket and pants from a brand I was interested in, and then order in exactly what I wanted. With the option to ship directly to my house. We phoned the night before to let Cycle Gear staff know that we had a wheel to bring in that needed the tube replaced. They said no problem bring it in tomorrow. When we got there only one person was working. Two employees had called in so he said he could not fix the wheel for us. We live in La Honda so it is a big trip for us right now with highway 84 closed. We started to call other places and then an employee came it to help!!! Joel then said he could fix the tire and it would be done in 20 minutes. So many thanks to Joel for fixing our tire and to Eddie for showing up for work yesterday. What a great place! This weekend I went to cycle gear in RWC so I could grab some boots for the MSF course I'm taking in a few weeks and I was super happy with my overall experience. I've been to the cycle gear in SF before and it's like a broom closet compared to this location lol it's super nice and spacious, well lit and the employees wait for you to approach them which I also really appreciated because I like to shop alone. I approached Benjamin while he was helping out some other folks check out some helmets and he asked what he could help me with. I asked him if he could help me find another size of a sedici boot I was looking at and he helped me find it no problem. He also took the time to explain that the boots don't really come in half sizes so you should go a size up. Fun fact, the boots also come with inserts to help with this and help fill in the space. LOVEEEEE THAT. While Benjamin was ringing me up he also took time to answer questions about gear I plan on getting in the future and gave me really solid feedback. There was another really sweet pair of guys who chimed in with their opinions on gear as well and as a new rider I can't stress how much I appreciated that. I'm always big on customer experience if I'm going to spending a lot of money so with how well they took care of me I'll definitely be back. This update is ONLY about the ordering option to have items sent to your home. I have been waiting for this order since 8/3/22. UPS tracking always pushes back the receiving date. This is frustrating since I've paid and I needed the items a couple weeks ago. Asking for a full refund of the full cost of the shirts and cancel the entire order for them (I did receive the other item and will be keeping those). This is my first time ordering something to my house instead of the store, and this will be my last time I will have delivery to me. Horribly disappointing, as I have spent a lot of money at cycle gear. I don't even know why I have to send this letter to the main site. I recently needed a new helmet and boots. I went to Cycle Gear in Redwood City and they staff was great. I got a new Arai helmet with an upgraded visor, and a pair of Alpine Star boots. They had exactly the boots I was looking for, in my size, and they taught me how to change out the visor on my new helmet. They were really patient and helpful as I fumbled my way through it. I'm a lady rider and also a pure beginner. I came in to get sized for a helmet and the help I got was absolutely incredible. I came in thinking I wanted a modular helmet because its what I used for my lessons and was quickly made aware of the safety benefits of getting a full coverage helmet instead, especially as a beginner. Not only did the sales guy potentially just give me life saving advice, he spent loads of time explaining all of my options for helmets and making sure I selected one that fit correctly. He also happily gave me advice on all other aspects of gear and had a ton of helpful advice. No high pressure sales tactics just good advice. I can honestly say I felt bad leaving without buying anything, but ended up getting my helmet online through the Cyclegear website. This store is really incredible and they had a decent selection of women's specific gear which was nice. The guys at this store know bikes and riding and are super friendly and helpful. I just got a new bike and needed a jacket and maybe pants. Was excited to go there on my break from work. I walk in and no hi from any of the three people standing at the counter. I proceeded to walk around and inspect jackets, I tried 3 of them on and no one came to help me out. Another gentleman came into the store, got a hi and chatted with one of the guys there and I thought that was really interesting. After which, I decided they do not need my business and I started taking pictures of tags so I could order this stuff online. I left without a goodbye and I will never set foot in that store again. I do not care to support attitudes such as those on display in that store. I really hate bringing up the rACE card[I'm an African-American male], but it was rather apparent that was what was going on. I came in from work dressed quite well with non-baggy jeans and a well fitted untucked button down and I got no service, none whatsoever. Not even a hello or a good bye. This was the first place that I've gone to in the bay that was so backward, even Texas was better. I would not recommend this place to anyone, I'd rather not see this place and the kind of attitude spread anywhere else. Great staff. Always friendly and helpful, knowledgeable too. Selection of helmets is a little weak. They have ever Bilt helmet known to man, but no icons, Z1Rs, etc. Granted, they have a large catalogue of helmets you can choose from, but you have to order, requiring a small ($3) fee, and the risk that it won't fit or you won't like it, and then they graciously send it back, but it would just be so much more fun if they just had some variety in stock. Nice selection of motorcycle repair/maintenance equipment like oil, trickle chargers, etc. And a decent selection of motorcycle gear as well. And they're usually running specials of some kind - 50% of certain kinds of helmets or gloves, etc. Definitely my go-to place for moto-related needs. read more

These guys are awesome. Let me start by telling you they have bike batteries cheaper than other places. My friend sent me to them because they are local and I can try stuff on. He's not a fan. From the moment I walked in, they were helpful. The first trip they helped me locate gloves. Second trip, I called and they stayed open late to sell me a battery for a bike I was buying that night and were fantastic about it. Third trip, I needed clothes that they didn't have, they special ordered them for me so they should arrive before the weekend and I don't pay shipping charges. I passed my motorcycle test today and took myself over to Cycle Gear in Redwood City. I was immediately greeted by Joey. As a new rider who does not own one piece of gear or a bike for that matter, Joey was extremely knowledgeable and more importantly patient with me. He spent 1 hour and 45 minutes with me helping me select a helmet, jacket, gloves, and boots. Not only did he show me the low, middle and high end of each item, but he explained what the differences were and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. I selected an Arai helmet in matte black which they did not have in my size. I was told not to worry that it would be in within 2 days and if I needed a helmet in the meantime they would provide me with a helmet which I could return when my helmet is delivered. I was thoroughly impressed by the selection, staff, and competitive pricing of Cycle Gear. They were having a post New Year's manager's sale so everything was 20% off. Combine the sale with the knowledge, selection and customer service and I am giving Cycle Gear Redwood City 5 stars. I will definitely return for any additional gear. Tiny, cramped, almost disorganized and chaotic place. Looked around for a bit and they really didn't have much of a selection unless you were planning on buying Bilt, because that seemed to be all they have. When I first entered I was not greeted, however I did get glared at by the employees working. Went and checked out some items, however I was more interested in checking out equipment that the website said they had. When I asked the employee on the floor about the equipment he looked at me as if I had just interrupted something important and asked me why didn't I just buy it off the website then, and what I saw was what they had. This is my shop of choice for taking my motorcycle wheels when I need to swap rubber. They have the best price locally for mounting tires when the wheels are off the bike and you supply the new tires. The people are helpful to a point, and put up with my sense of humor. Not the greatest selection of items, but they have the necessities at fair prices. Parking can be a pain at times, especially with the curmudgeon at the donut shop threatening to tow if you park in his lot. Use the lot for Record Man. read more
