Not only did he help us pick the right AGM battery (Duralast 51R), but he also let us borrow a 10mm wrench so we could swap it out ourselves right there in the lot. I asked them to place an order for a lexus RX 300, passenger rear caliper. The workers there were clueless . I called 4 times and I got the run around. I told Queaz, manager, what I needed and he was clueless or he did not want to do his job. FYI, when you replace the caliper, you should do them in pairs. A grossly mismanaged store. In my opinion, it deserves to go out of business. 1. No manager on duty. It's Sunday and nobody to escalate to. 2. Untrained staff: Poor understanding of the ordering process. In person, I ordered a part that never arrived after weeks of waiting. It was supposed to arrive to my house. Then, I confirmed that it arrived to the store. Except it never did when I attempted to pick it up in person. 3. Unresponsive staff: It's appalling to see the employees completely checked out and not carrying about providing good service. I was stuck with the wiper blades on my dads truck. I know how to change them but I couldn't remove them. A guy named Victor was very helpful. I asked him if he can help me install them. He gladly helped me. He mentioned that it was rusty that was why it was hard for me. My dad passed away almost 2 years ago. I told him. I was a little wary of the negative reviews, but was glad I stuck with my choice. I am overjoyed at the positive customer service rendered by new cashier trainee Victor Berdoulay. I went in to replace my Camry key fob battery and Victor went the extra mile to open my fob. I was uncertain as to whether or not I'd need it reprogrammed. His trainer suggested he try to help and luckily I did not need to spend $200 or more to fix the fob. ALL of these stars are for Victor, one of the employees in San Mateo. Because of the store issues I took a star off. Usually the employees don't seem very happy or helpful and it will say online that they have something and they don't. You can even purchase it online when it says in stock and you can come in and they won't have it. One time they did find it behind the counter and just handed it to me without checking who I was or my receipt but whatever. It's happened to me a couple of times and it seems like it happens at all of the different car supply places in San Mateo county that I have been to. I thought today was going to be the same because they said the battery I pre-paid for last night was no longer in stock. But then when they looked behind the counter it was there and the last one! Victor was very helpful on the phone last night talking about car batteries and quick disconnects in case I don't drive my car a lot which has caused some issues with lesser AAA batteries. The last AAA guy who jumped my car said to go to the AutoZone in Millbrae where they would put it in for me. I started with that phone call, then proceeded to other Zones that claimed they had the battery that they didn't have and was not in stock. This girl Diana in Millbrae knows what she's talking about! But OMG the guy I talked to last night didn't have a clue! I felt like I knew more about batteries than he did- he couldn't even tell me the difference in types of batteries I asked about and he had to look it up himself. He asked me over and over what kind of car I have and I don't think a Toyota 4Runner should be hard to remember!!! He said they would not put the battery in when I was told they would buy the other person. They told me to try to see if I could go to some business next-door and have them put it in. Next... I called East Palo Alto who did not have the battery and Redwood City would & put it in but then I thought I will just ask San Mateo because it's closer. At this point I was very frustrated but I had to do something about getting a more reliable battery, and I needed to have my car jumped again just to go get that battery. Victor (San Mateo) answered the phone and said he would be happy to switch out the batteries for me and he found me a quick disconnect because the one they of course said was in stock, was not. I went down there and he took the time to swap out the batteries for me after checking my previous battery and did an amazing job and I can tell the difference in power! Older Toyota computer systems apparently draw some power consistently for certain functions unlike many other brands and newer cars (per AAA road service). I can't say enough about how nice Victor was, good conversation, obviously a hard worker and knowledgeable and I could not have had a better experience! The first good one I've had at any auto parts store. If I need anything else I'm definitely going back there looking for him!! Thanks Victor!! read more

Had to go back three times in one day to get the item I needed. I needed rotors, so I gave them Year,Make,Model,4x4,3.4L V6. Everything they needed to get me the correct rotors. I trusted they were competent and left with what they gave me. Get home, pull my tires and rotors off and they aren't right. I go return them for what was supposed to be the right ones and they sold me the same ones I just returned. After the third time driving back I get what I need without an apology or any attempt of making it right. Definitely the most incompetent employees I've ever dealt with. 5 stars goes to the nice guy behind the counter!! I didnt actually purchase anything - I'd go back just for his customer service! He looked young, maybe late teens, early twenties that helped me when my car broke down at Subway! I asked if they sold starters, because a quick google search told me that might be what is wrong - he said yes, but lets see if that's the problem! He came out and helped look under the hood - he even banged on the engine to see if he could jump it for me. He said while they do sell starters, he doesn't recommend purchasing one without a second opinion (AAA or a shop) and that they don't assist with installations. He even looked up the ones that would be compatible for my car, if AAA was going to come out to help. He was so helpful, and it was the middle of the day and there were other patrons, so I really appreciated his attention! Plus, helped me get a figure for what the pricing should be to replace my starter :) Would be back, when I need parts! read more
