I recently visited Cynthia Kiernan's office. First, I want to say the staff is professional and appear to be very caring. Something I find to be a breath of fresh air. During my visit with Cynthia, she encouraged me to ask questions, which was an excellent idea, as she discovered possible fluid behind my retina. Cynthia immediately recommended I see a specialist. I recently moved to Las Vegas and required an eye examination from a Nevada optometrist. Dr. Kiernan was available to take me on as a new patient and I was pleased to get an appointment within a day. My experience with Dr. Kiernan at the Walmart Vision Center on 2310 Serene Avenue was quite remarkable because, for the first time in my adult life, an optometrist was able to get my prescription for my glasses perfect enough to allow me to read 20/20. Office is conveniently located in walmart . Office was busy but waits were short - i was seen exactly the time my appointment was made so that was another plus. I have been going to another eye institute for several years for my glaucoma and dry eyes. I have been helped but I feel I have been rushed and have not received the results I have been wanting. So, I saw Dr. Kiernan both for eye glass prescriptions but also to hopefully help with my dry eye and irritation issues. Well, I think Dr. Kiernan is a godsend, and this is why. When I walked in for my appointment, I noticed how friendly her staff was. They were unusually polite and helpful, and in no time they performed some tests on my eyes prior to my exam. I really liked this staff. I can see now that her staff is a reflection of Dr. Kiernan's caring values. When it was time to see the doctor, I was treated with a big, friendly smile and a little chit-chat before the business of optometry. She took the time to come up with excellent prescriptions for both distance and computer glasses. And I was able to see the marked improvement between the previous prescriptions and the new ones. After that, she zeroed in on my dry eye and eyelash issues. The white flakiness on my eyelashes was very likely caused by Demodex mites. She gave me a prescription Demdodex blepharitis that will kill the infestation within 6 weeks of use. I'll be starting this treatment in a couple of days when the prescription is received. I can't wait! Next, I was informed about eye drops for dry eye that are markedly superior to the regular ones but are quite expensive. She helped me find these eye drops at a more reasonable price, which I'm currently looking into. She also explained about heat treatments and using an eye mask at night along with a special gel. On her computer she showed me an eye mask on Amazon that was good and only $10. And she also sent a referral to a highly regarded specialist in the other eye institute to look at my case and set up IPL or other relevant procedures to help eliminate the dry eye/irritation problem once and for all (I hope). What was amazing about all of this was how thorough she was. She went through my issues giving me verbal and written prescriptions when necessary, or computer links to examine, or general recommendations and ideas. I felt she went out of her way to make sure my questions were answered and that I understood the options. In my opinion, Dr. Kiernan is easily 5 stars. And this applies to her as an eye doctor and as very likable person. She cares about people and this is so evident. Thank You for your time and thoroughness, doctor. Came here for an eye exam for contacts. It's my first time getting contact lenses and Dr. Shiraishi was great. She was super friendly and made the whole experience painless and quick. I talked to her about my needs and got recommended lenses that fit my lifestyle. I tried on some lenses and told her I would probably be buying mine from Sam's club since they have Acuvue Moist lenses for very cheap.
