Horrible dentist. Do not go here. Place is dirty. The dentist had the administrative assistant call me two weeks after my appointment alleging that I had a cavity. She did not say I had any cavities when I was in the office. I said I will have to get a second opinion. I went to my former dentist who is amazing and has a clean office in SF. She also examined my X-rays and teeth and concluded I did not have any cavities! My dentist before scam artist Cynthia Cox DDS also concluded that I did not have any cavities. I called the scammers back to tell them I am no longer a patient and please destroy my files, when I received another call from her office that they are having trouble billing my insurance again for a visit in July. WTF. They are fraudulent scammers trying to milk every cent of my dental insurance allotment. I repeat DO NOT go here. They will try and shake you and your insurance down for as much money as possible! Now I will be reporting them to the CA Dental Board and filing a claim with my insurance company. read more

Best dentist ever!!! Gentle hand - amazingly little pain with anesthesia injections (often the worst pain of dental work for me) and virtually no post-op swelling or pain after a filling, implant work, or in-depth cleaning. I'm tartariffic, so cleaning is no minor deal. FABULOUS cosmetic work. I've had both chip repair on a front tooth & completion of an implant construction. She did careful color-matching, above-and-beyond research & parts sourcing for the hardware needed on my partially done implant (I had only the initial base hardware put in by a dentist when I was living in San Diego) and without me needing to ask, wrote a letter to get partial payment from my insurance that had initially denied the claim. The lab she uses for implant work is top notch. I unfortunately forgot the guy's name, but he really stepped up on an unusual and complicated project. Everyone at the office is exceptionally kind & helpful, and Dr. Cox has a great sense of humor & surprisingly attuned understanding of tool-filled mouth gruntings for mid-proceedure conversation. She takes her work very seriously and is a consumate profesional, but is also someone who'd be fun to just chat with over a cup of tea. The office is easily accessible by bus, but the client parking is very limited, so if you drive, have quarters handy for street meters. Ann was willing to answer all my questions and even checked with my dental insurance to confirm what I would have to pay out of pocket. My first visit went very well. I have a lifelong terror of the dentist, thanks to a terrible childhood dentist that didn't believe in novocaine. Lucky me, I've been seeing Dr. Cox for more than fifteen years. She is outstanding - warm, professional, skillful, gentle, and the most patient-focused dentist I've ever had. I've recommended her to a number of people over the years, and they are all still her patients. What do I love about her? Everything. I have TMJ and a wacky shaped mouth that make getting a good xray difficult, and too long with my mouth open can be excruciating. Dr. Cox has talked me down from panic attacks, and she and her assistant Pia figure out strategies to protect my jaw and keep me out of pain. Dr. Cox takes the time to make sure that pain meds have taken effect, and frequently checks in to make sure that I'm comfortable. Pia has practically stood on her head to get a good xray, chatting and keeping me relaxed. Dr. Cox not only answers all my questions, she explains all treatment options - pros, cons, long-term, short-term, and costs of each. She helps me strategize the best way to take advantage of my insurance benefits, and feeling in control has in turn helped me feel less anxious. Cynthia Cox and her staff are by far the best in their profession that I've ever encountered. I've had my fair share of dental work from routine to extensive, and there are technically proficient physicians and there are empathetic/understand physicians, but rarely have I seen a combination of the two. Today was my first visit with Dr. Cox and it was honestly a pleasure.. in a dental chair.. I'm still surprised because most experiences in the chair are neutral at best. She and her assistant, Pia, went over my intake questionnaire, took and reviewed x-rays, examined my teeth and measured my gum pockets. There were orange-tinted glasses so the overhead light isn't blinding during examination, and Dr. Cox recommended I order my previous x-rays so I wouldn't be unnecessarily exposed to radiation. I know my dental health isn't the best because I didn't form good habits or get dental care growing up; I was really pleased with Dr. Cox's thoroughness and her "chair-side manner". Though I was peeved at first that, as a new patient, I had to schedule two appointments (the first an exam/assessment by Dr. Cox, the second a cleaning by her assistant), the care and attention to detail made me realize why both appointments were necessary. I have seen Dr Cox for about 4 years now . She is very sweet and understands my fear of the drill. I had all my old filling replaced last year. She does great work and has the laughing gas to help me calm down . Her shots for numbing are so painless and she is very concerned with your comfort .
