Arrived Sunday early afternoon and it was packed! The line was steadily moving. They ran out of some bakery items. No menu was easily accessible, but they do have one during checkout. The person who is taking your order, by memorization, verbally tells the price of the items to the cashier and that's how they compute the total. Wow! We had seen this driving between Dallas & Waco and finally decided to stop. OMG -- the selection and quality at very reasonable prices. The people were very nice and it was busy. Trying to check out the selection and make decisions was the hard part. It's almost like -- what don't they have. The interior is clean and different than any place I'd been. The exterior looks like a gas station/convenience store. The interior is one of the best deli/bakeries you'll find anywhere. Everything is to go and they will warm any sandwich if you like. My only regret is that we didn't stop on our way south and take some of the bakery goodies to our friends. Can't wait to go back and would definitely make the drive if visiting Waco or anyplace around that area of TX. read more

Ok, our friend told us, one the way to Waco (for our day trip to the Silo), you must stop at Czech Stop and get some kolache. Honestly, I was skeptical but alas we made a quick stop to give it a try. I am very glad we did. First off, I didn't realize it was literally a gas station stop. And then to walk in and see a huge variety of kolache & klobasniky, wow. We couldn't stop for a long time, so quickly picked up a few to try. We tasted a couple while it was fresh and they were delish. The rest we took him to heat up later and they still were pretty good. If I was driving that stretch of highway all the time, I would definitely make a stop every time to pick up a bunch! read more

Idk what it is about gas stations in Texas being so cool and fun, but the pattern continues with Czech stop. I took some friends here on a road trip and had to show them what makes this place so special. Idk what they ordered, but they loved it. What did I get? I went hard and got a jalapeno popper, sausage egg and cheese, sausage and cheese, and bacon and egg. And of course for dessert I went with the chocolate chip and cream cheese one. All of them were fantastic, some I obviously liked more than others. Like the jalapeno popper one... I still dream about that one. The sausage egg and cheese was my second favorite because everything was perfectly portioned and every bite was perfect. The dessert one was obviously in its own world and I actually had that one as a late night snack and it was the best decision of my life. Whatever you order, you genuinely can't go wrong. I had to go on a business trip to Austin last week. We came home on Saturday and my boss had to stop at the Czech Stop because if he didn't his family would be made. I ventured inside and fell in love with the fresh baked smells of bread, kolaches, etc. They had little things to buy that reminded me a lot of going to Stuckeys as a kid on a road adventure. I proceeded to get a bunch of kolaches (fruit on top) along with some rolls with sausage. My wife loves desserts so I got her a little oreo pie. I got a small piece of blueberry bread with icing on top and it was probably the best thing I had. I got two large cookies from the bin that had items on it and they were good too (Snickerdoodles?) . My first kolache experience. I heard this was the best of the best, far better than the imitation that moved in across the way. But just to be sure, my husband and I went to both (and, for good measure, he also got kolaches at Buc-ee's), and the rumors were true: these are invariably the best. Unfortunately, I am allergic to eggs, so I could only really enjoy the fillings. I got some chocolate covered pretzels that were excellent, and they had other desserts as well. The line was MASSIVE on a Sunday afternoon - winding through the store almost out of the door - but when we stopped again at 7pm on a Tuesday night, we walked right to the counter. Thank God. I'm pretty sure the young guy serving us was...I don't know how to say it tactfully...not of a sober mind. He needed us to repeat our order 300 times, was very confused, and we only got 2 Nutella, 2 jalapeño sausage/cheese, and a very berry. But it was worth the stop! read more

Stop by here every time i'm driving through to visit family, i usually get a big box of variety kolaches. My favorite is the classic cream cheese kolaches. And you can buy a box of fresh kolaches and other goods but you also can buy them frozen so sometimes i'll buy a dozen from kolaches and just pull them out of the freezer one by one for quick treats. The lines are usually very long and can be intimidating but they move very fast and the wait is shorter than it looks, but either way the wait is worth it. read more

This place was recommended by a friend. It was an easy stop being that it was right off the freeway. The Czech Bakery happened to be closed, which was fine, because the Czech Stop, carried much of their goods inside the stop. The lines were super super long, but don't fret. I was out within 15 min. They know how to hustle! I ordered the sausage jalapeño kolache, which was excellent! Isn't your mouth watering yet? You couldn't help but get their pastry kolaches, like the pineapple, rasberry, or Curran cheese...they are so delicious, and these are fresh cream cheese-like danishes! They had so much to chose from. They had pies, breads, and of course, inside this gas station, you grab other gas station type junk food. That's what we do. Worth the stop. Quick, delicious. This is a stop every time I drive by!! I always order the jalapeño poppers! And if it's in the morning I get their breakfast!! I also get the brisket and the pizza kolaches !! Pretty much everything we have ordered here is always super good even the sandwiches that they have is good. An absolute must stop on the drive between Austin and Dallas. Super high quality kolaches and the best bang for your buck you'll find for them. If you enjoy trying a wide variety of different option, this is certainly the place for you. I could stare at their selection for hours and it feel confident in my choices, but all the more reason to keep visiting! Outside of the diversity of options, the quality of bread and freshness of the other ingredients really stands out, particularly relative to a nearby competitor. Even as more of a savory over sweet person, I'd say the sweet kolaches are really the move here. If you're struggling to choose and will only be here once, something with fruit and cream cheese will not guide you wrong. On the savory side I've particularly enjoyed the variety sausage and cheese options, when it comes to meats I think this is clearly their highest quality option. I haven't explored much of their non kolache options in the store, but they are plentiful as well. However if you come here and don't get at least one kolache, you're doing it wrong read more

Optional side quest that you can easily knock out without too much time wasted from your primary mission of navigating between Austin and Dallas. Exit the raceway that is 35 via Exit 353, and you too can be one of the lucky masses to stand in line to buy food here (it is worth the price of admission... which is basically all of the yummy things you didn't intend to buy here that all look too delicious to pass up). The kolaches are an awesome family favorite, but I do wish they had more breakfasty ones. The ones with meat come stuffed with plenty of meat... but we have no pictures. No evidence of the vast array of unhealthy calories consumed, just in case our dietitian sees our posts. For those of you with an RV, travel trailer, or semi coming south, be careful after exiting into frontage. It is very uneven, and bumpy. As for parking, keep driving on South College and resist the urge to turn right on West Pine... The lot off to your right is where you wanna park, usually there are spots in the back part of the lot (along Bush's Chicken) where you can pull directly in, park, and pull straight through onto the frontage without testing your turning skills. I don't get gas or park in the lot by the shop, it looks like a headache. read more

Any time I make a road trip between Dallas and Austin, kolaches from Czech Stop make an appearance. These kolaches are plush pillows with a center of sweet jam. They do tend to be pretty sweet, but there are so many different flavors that I find myself buying a dozen for the family and then trying small pieces of each of the dozen. Some of our favorites include cream cheese, raspberry, strawberry, and apricot... but you can't go wrong! The savory options are also a hit, and the store also offers many other goodies to explore. It's hard to find diversity in culture and perspective in Texas that is not mainstream yet somehow appreciated by the masses, but Czech Stop is a fun unique little oasis! read more

An absolute must stop on your next road trip!! This is what a kolache is supposed to taste like. If you go, I recommend the chocolate kolache, pepperoni and jalapeño cheddar sausage kolache. They do offer to warm your kolaches which I recommend. The fruit based kolaches were my favorite! The workers just stare out you until you've made up your mind and approach them for what you would like. Service could be better but the food is great and worth the spot! I never would have stopped because I just want to get to where I'm going, but it came highly recommended. They have fruit pies, kolaches, other sweets/savories, and cookies. I opted for an apple kolache. A kolache is a puffy dough with fruit, cheese, or meat in the middle. These are famous in Texas for a good reason. Delectable. There is so much to choose from here. Czech Stop is an institution...seriously. Even though I am a born and raised Texan that's passed this place hundreds of times coming up and down 35, I've honestly only been twice (I know, I know). Present me just can't forgive younger me for all those years missing out on the deliciousness of this bakery. You'll very obviously see the Czech Stop sign from the highway...just go ahead and let it mesmerize you into exiting. It's basically attached to a gas station but they have general parking in the front and on the sides of the storefront. Once you're inside, go ahead and be that kid in a kolache store and oggle at all the tasty treats. Czech Stop has an impressive selection of treats, from savory to sweet. Maybe you're really wanting some sausage and gravy biscuits...they have a kolache for that. Maybe you're more in the mood for a burger...they have a kolache for that too! Or maybe you're wanting something berry-forward or chocolate-y or cheesecake-y...they have kolaches for ALL of that. There are a few servers behind the counter ready to take your order, so the line moves quick. I highly recommend trying the ham, cheese, and jalapeño kolache and the mixed berry kolache. The bread is SO fresh and pillowy soft, making it the perfect blank canvass for the different kolache fillings. I think the typical price range is about $2-$4, so you can have breakfast, lunch, or dessert for under $10 easy here. My mouth is watering just thinking about this place. I've grown up visiting the Czech Stop, and for me, it's not only nostalgic but the OG for kolaches in Texas. Not only did I go with my parents on road trips as a kid, I attended Baylor and upheld the late night visit tradition. I recently revisited the Czech Stop on a trip to Dallas, and it hasn't changed one bit! The pastries were absolutely delicious. I ordered many to take home, and they were good for many days after. Went this afternoon on our way home from Oklahoma. We ordered several kolaches (jalepeno cheddar sausage, pepperoni, pulled pork, and hot chubbie) and enjoyed them all. Highly recommend the pepperoni and cheddar sausage. Also ordered some sweet danishes and wish we had picked up more because we finished them so quickly. All of this was had for less than $20. Line was pretty long but moved relatively quickly due to the hustle of the staff. The staff was very personable and friendly and seemed like they cared about their product. Thankful that we don't live closer because we would all grow three times our size dining here every day. Highly recommend and will make it a stop any time we are headed up i35. read more

We stopped at this place back in December 2021 and I'm just getting around to putting a review. The location is small but FILLED with baked goods. There items wrapped and ready to go and then there were items behind the glass. There was a bit of a line but we were happy to wait. There were just too many choices. We ended up getting a cupcake, a kolache with fruit, a kolache with sausage and a banana bread. They were so delicious and I can't wait to go back.
