    Original German Berlin Doner
    Yasser H.

I did enjoy my Doner sandwich. I got the spicy version. It came with a side of French fries. I would have liked some more meat in the sandwich. I wonder if they double meat for some extra dough. I'll ask it next time. There was enough seating in the restaurant and some good music was playing. There were other items on the menu, which I'll try next time. I also noticed some lunch specials on the menu.

    ROACH!

Zero stars if possible. Found a dead roach, food was not fresh, and the quality was terrible. Prices were unclear and there were extra charges for everything. Very dissatisfied and would not recommend.

@donergyrostx is a spot that I am a fan of, been coming here for years. This time we ordered the Chicago Gyro, Berlin Doner, Classic Shrimp Wrap, Chicken Doner Rice Bowl and Donermite Fries. First off the Chicago Gyro is just perfect, simple and flavorful. next for the Berlin Doner which is doner, veggies and sauces is a crispy Flatbread, again another item that just hits the spot. Also another great option is the rice bowl, which you customize to your liking with the type of meat, veggies and sauce options. Beside the food this is a nice clean restaurant, and the staff is helpful and friendly Definitely a spot I highly recommend

We ordered 2 classic Chicago gyros online for pickup. The service was friendly and quick! Gyros were good- fluffy bread with lots of lamb meat. I'd probably ask for grilled onions next time as there are large slices of raw onions that are a bit too much for my liking. They also have some lunch or late night specials. And kids eat free on Sunday when you order a combo platter. One thing to note: do NOT order online. They charged us extra for lamb when the store price seems to cover all types of meats.

My husband and I decide to try this place as we've been looking for a decent gyro place close to home. They didn't disappoint! The gyro platter I got was a big serving and the beef was so flavorful. My husband enjoyed his Chicago gyro with a side of fries. We've passed this place numerous times going to a couple of restaurants for years, finally this will be a go-to place for gyros in Richmond if we don't want to drive to Houston for Niko Nikos gyros!

This is great place for a quick meal at a great price. The restaurant is small with limited tables but a large high-table for larger groups. I like the fact they stay open later than most sandwich and bowl restaurants. The service is great and the food arrived quickly. Only tried two options and my favorite so far is the Berlin Doner on crispy flatbread. It came with a very generous portion of protein (my choice Lamb) and lots of veggies. I returned the very day for lunch and had the mixed meat bowl with seasoned rice and five toppings of my choice. After the Berlin Doner, I was disappointed with the amount of protein in my bowl representing three meats. The bowl was very good just an overwhelming amount of rice.

    Meal No. 2 (CHICAGO GYRO)

Walked in and was promptly greeted. Very sweet and friendly service. I got the Chicago gyro spicy with some dolmas on the side. It was very flavorful, loved the meat. Just preference but I would have liked some lettuce or something on my gyro and I would have liked the white sauce or something sauce with my dolmas. Place is nice and well kept.

This is a surprising little spot. I have seen this place for years and always wanted to stop be never had the opportunity until recently. Service was reasonable. Friendly and relatively quick. Reminder this isn't fast food this is quick service. So you will need a few min before you get served. Gyro and tzatziki were simple and tasty. What's interesting is the offering of a "spicy" gyro. I did partake in the spicy offering. For me not very spicy. I would say a 3 of 10. But then do offer more sauce on the side. Finally the price just over $15 for a lunch of gyro, fries and a beverage. Now this is not in my immediate area but if I have the time in this area I will be back! Friendly staff tasty food. Great pricing.

    Dner Salad with chicken

I seriously almost fainted when I opened my chicken doner salad as it was sprinkled all over with feta cheese (not a fan of feta cheese). The photo of the salad on the menu had pieces of feta cheese so I figured I could easily pick it out...but unfortunately that was NOT the case. But thankfully after spending a good 20 minutes picking out all the feta chunks, I enjoyed my meal. Everything in the salad, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, and bell peppers was very very fresh. I especially loved that some of the purple cabbage was pickled, it was delicious. Meat was decent. I liked that it was seasoned and not super salty. Otherwise it wasn't anything to rave about. Food came out fast and the man behind the counter was very friendly. Overall a good fast food place for doners. Definitely interested to try their sandwiches next time!

Beef kofta kebab platter (comes with 2 kebabs) (L $13.99) and lamb/beef mix bowl (R $11.24). Both pretty good, had leftovers

We had originally planned on trying out their buffet, but we showed up a bit too late where there were only bits of food left, and they weren't planning on refilling the buffet, so, we decided to stay anyway and to order off the menu..... and we're all glad we did! The interior is very spacious, casual, and clean.... and having shown up so late, there was no crowd, the place was peaceful and calm, and a great time for us to enjoy our meal.. with very good service focused only on us. I'm typically not familiar with Nepalese food, but perusing the menu, the dishes offered looked almost exactly like a typical Indian restaurant's menu, except there were some additional hybrid Indian/Chinese dishes, like the Momo dumplings that are typical and popular dish familiar to this Nepali region. Fortunately, there were four of us dining in and we were able to order a variety of dishes that sounded really yummy..... like the Steamed Chicken Momos (dumplings), Gobi Manchurian (fried cauliflower coated in a spicy sweet sauce), Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Goat Curry, Lamb Curry, Saag Paneer, Lachna Paratha, and Garlic Naan. How was the food? I don't eat lamb or goat so I can't comment, but the others in the group mentioned the meat was a bit tough, but the curries tasted excellent. As for everything else, I did get to try it all, and everything was so hot, fresh, and prepared just perfectly.... so yummy delicious! Not too sweet, not to salty, and just a great balance of flavors and textures. My all time favorite Indian dish being the saag paneer....pureed spinach with cubes of goat cheese....yummeee! And went great with the breads fresh out of the oven..... very happy and satisfied! This place was a great find as we all enjoyed the food here very much. Service was very good, and with a very nice, casual, and pleasant ambiance. We don't visit here very often since we're from our of town, but if we do visit again, we'll definitely be back again.

We ain't in Queens anymore…read more For years, I've eaten on Shah's all around the borough, initially out in Ozone Park and Briarwood before finding a real audience in Sunnyside. Now that they've sufficiently blown up around NYC, I was a bit shocked (and excited) to see them finally come to H-Town. What's the verdict? It's good enough to pass muster for NY standards (#1), is open super late, and will likely be my go-to Halal food for the foreseeable future. Since I've only had it in cart form, I'm still a buggin over the fact it's become a franchise. It's similar to my shock of eating Halal Guys at a store for the first time. The digs feel as foreign (prices, large, clean and bright interior) as it does familiar (taste, logo, etc.). Even though I had a laugh seeing the wall photo-mural of a Shah's cart in Times Square, I did appreciate the nod to Ozone Park with the 121st & Liberty street signs. The chicken + lamb combo platter ($12) is and always will be the winner. The lamb had the same kind of seasoning that most Halal spots out here try to replicate but can never get right. The rice was fluffy, and the white sauce was easily the highlight. I can understand why they've decided to bottle it up and sell it as liquid gold. It makes every meal better. Kofta ($12) and chapli ($13) are rarely my favorites, but I knew I had both in platter form. The addition of adding chickpeas and these other salads is not something I'm used to from the carts (#2) but I loved the fact it was drowned in the white sauce with a dash of hot sauce. The latter is supposedly extremely hot, but I didn't find it that spicy. While I have to say the cheeseburger was a bit of a disappointment (overly bready, thin patty), the pakora chips and french fries were fabulous. They were perfectly seasoned, had a nice crisp, and frankly would be an excellent, gut-busting addition to any platter. I don't love the extra charge, but I hope they remain consistent with it. This store location in Westchase along Westheimer is an up and coming part of town. There are numerous Middle Eastern businesses in the adjacent area, along with an abundance of parking spots and a good amount of late night activity. Service was friendly but I do hope they keep their standards up. As time goes on, I'm 100% convinced this will be a destination for the many late night meal seekers and fans of NY nostaligia. __________ (#1) Which automatically supersedes a lot of the ones here in Houston. Just keeping it real. (#2) Is the chickpeas a Houston thing? Genuinely curious.

So apparently this spot has struggled to keep one concept for whatever reason. The interesting thing about Wise Street Eats is that you can opt to build a healthy bowl with Greek inspirations, or you can do what I did and order the Dirty Mac bowl with fried chicken, mac-n-cheese and cajun fries. I'm a real sucker when restaurants put "Most Popular" on their menu, which made my decision to order this, a quick one. What I will say is that, while I enjoyed the Dirty Mac, in retrospect, I would have preferred if it was a side dish, rather than my entire meal, because it was quite heavy (as one would expect). About halfway through it, I realized I was going to have to bring the energy to take down this valiant opponent. Next time, I'll build a bowl. Or maybe even go with a burger. But I do appreciate the dirty mac and if I was still a man who got hungover, I'd consider it a pretty elite hangover remedy.
