The dining area is small and no table service so expect to order at the counter and find a table. The staff is friendly and helpful with recommendations but I entered fixed on finding a great Gyro. They exceeded my expectations offering a pita filled generously with gyro meat. My side was a fresh Greek salad instead of French fries. I was talked into purchasing falafels as a starter and I'm so glad I did. The Falafels easily exceeded a five rating and possibly the best I've ever had. I've been looking for an undeniable good gyro. Tried this place after the restaurant across the street was closed on Tuesdays. So glad I did! Had the Gyro platter where I subbed a side Greek salad ($2.50 up charge) for the standard seasoned fries. The lettuce was crisp with wonderful pepper sprinkled on top of the tomatoes & the vinegarette dressing was so tasty with just the right amount on the salad. The gyro had really great flavor. The meat was tender & very well seasoned. The pita was especially yummy also with the tomatoes, onions & taziki sauce. It was just a darn good gyro. Definitely one of the top ones I've had in the area. The place is small, located in a strip mall, but was fine to dine-in. They also have outdoor table seating. We had a great meal Saturday night, lamb kabob and kibbe plates, hummus and tabouli were tasty, and service was prompt. The manager is very friendly, and helpful describing their versions of classic dishes. Filled us up, but we added a takeout chicken shawarma too. Also had a nice collection of imported beers. Dumar's has become a weekly lunch staple for my family. My husband orders the chicken shawarma plate, and I get the veggie plate + 1 kafta kebab a la cart. Each entree comes with Syrian pita - this is quite thin and not something we're used to, so we sub for Greek pita. The meats are always well cooked and perfectly seasoned. I am well-known for having major cases of FOMO, so the veggie plate is my perfect meal; it comes with hummus, tabouli, baba ghanouj, falafel, grape leaves, mejadra & rice. Every part of the veggie plate is divine. The restaurant offers delivery through their website, but I find it a bit easier to call the order in. Their customer service is excellent. Saw this place while doing business in the area and decided to stop by and try it out. I'm so glad that I did! Very very friendly service! I could tell a few of the customers who came in were regulars, as the owner greeted them by name. The food was incredibly delicious and the portions were more than adequate. I had the grilled halloumi cheese and gyro meat over hummus. I literally scraped my plates clean! I will definitely be back here when I am in the area and craving mediterranean food. What's not to like? It has gyros that are very good. It has shawarmas that are tasty. It has tasty hummus and grape leaves. (I haven't tried the jalapeño hummus yet.) the owners are friendly. It even has a store where you can boxes of Turkish Delight 3 different varieties even. You say that's not enough? Then you haven't tried it because their plates give you enough for two meals or to share. Why isn't it the perfect spot, though? It's not open on Sundays, so we all can't meet there for lunch after church. And honestly, you have to be a Dumars not to love Dumar's. If it's cold out, this amazing food shawarma you right up. Dumaran Dumaran were always one of my fave bands, and now I know why. They were named after this place. Simon LeBon and John Taylor are almost as tasty as these kebabs. I've loved that band - and this kind of food - since I was only a three Gyrold. And a bit of a Dumars. Houston actually has quite a few good Middle Eastern restaurants and I would say it even has more than its fair share compared to a lot of other large cities in the US. However this may be the best one of all. Other than Darband on Hilcroft, this is the gold standard that I have found in the Houston area for Middle Eastern food. And that's Persian, whereas this is closer to Lebanese - so different cuisines really. From the Lebanon/Holy Lands region, this is unequivocally number one. Way ahead of all the late night Barbar/Aseel type options. People say I'm incapable of empathy, but I falafel for those people who have never been here. Absolutely afel. Unlike the French, who feel Eiffel. And the British, who are a bunch of Dumarses. Every single thing they sell from the hummus to the kabobs to the bread and even the service is top-notch five-star excellent. We loved every bite and will be back here many times in future. The crazy thing about this place is that the owners are directly related to the owners of Doumar's - which is spelled differently - all the way out in Norfolk Virginia. And I've only eaten at probably five places in the Norfolk area and that is one of them. So what are the odds of that? It's also one of the most famous places to eat in all of Virginia, and has the claim to fame of having invented the first ice cream machine or something of that nature. I forget. And their Limeades are very famous - and delicious. It's a pita that more people don't know how good this place is. But people are Dumarses. Barbie said Dumar's (this one, not the Limeade place) has amazing Tabouli and wonderful Gyro. I agree. You need to get down here and try everything. So I saw you here last week cutie. I've driven pass the sign GYROS many times saying I was going to stop in one day. Today was the day and thank goodness. The Gyros was delicious. My husband and I moved to the Sugar Land area in 2016 and somehow never happened upon Dumar's until tonight. I'm seriously disappointed that the last 4 years of my life have been filled with mediocre Mediterranean food when this place has been right down the road the whole time. We decided since it was our first time that we'd get the Special Sampler for 2 and we weren't disappointed by this feast. It includes: Mezza Sampler (2 Falafel, 2 Kebeh, 2 Grape Leaves, Hummus, Tabouli & Baba Ghanouj), Greek Salad,Vermicelli Rice and your choice of any 3 meats. We chose chicken, beef and lamb ($1 surcharge for lamb but it's worth it!). The grape leaves, baba ghanouj, kebah and beef were the highlights of the meal but overall, everything was delicious. Last year was quite a bummer for restaurant dining, but as soon as things started to get better we did curbside and the food was just as fantastic as ever. This was my second time visiting the establishment. The first time I visited, I'd only come in to grab a menu. I remember it well because it was April Fool's day and the staff joked about there not being any more menus. I really appreciated his effort to make me laugh! Today I came in for a gyro combo. The meat was cooked and well. My only complaint was that there wasn't much meat on the sandwich. The pita bread was soft and fresh. The combo came with a small serving of fries. I believe my order was around $12. Drink was not included. I feel like businesses sell these at a comparable price point. For this price, I'd like to see a little more meat-especially since the serving of fries was small too. Other than that, my visit was okay. I was impressed with how quickly the food came out. We've done dine-in as well as to-go, and both options are good. The ambiance is casual. My go-to item here is the Gyro Plate. It comes with delicious gyro meat, rice, pita bread, and a salad. The meat is flavorful and definitely hits the spot. My wife loves the Gyro Sandwich (which is actually not a sandwich as in 2 slices of bread, but rather it's a soft & tasty ?pita? bread wrap... containing the signature gyro meat with the creamy white sauce, fresh onion, and tomato). If you like Mediterranean food and are in the area, Dumar's is a great option to check out! Big fan of lamb shanks so I just tried it and the taste was rather bland, the meat was not falling of the bone as advertised. They do sell other Middle Eastern dishes such as Gyro and Shawarma which I did not try so won't be able to comment.
