Great find on our stop through town! It was packed on a Tuesday morning, which is always a sign of a good local spot. Service was good, food was delicious. There isn't a kids menu, the options for kids are limited (chicken tenders, cheeseburger, grilled cheese, quesadillas) but they worked for our little one. My wife found this place to save us from a typical chain dinner. What a great find! Shrimp and grits were unique, with the grits pattied up , coated in breadcrumbs and fried. We were visiting a loved one and I needed a place to enjoy an anniversary meal with my wife, so with the high Yelp ratings I decided to give Ro's a shot. We were seated in 45 minutes on a busy Friday evening and the staff was all very friendly. The steaks were cooked correctly, the chicken was very good and not dry, and the shrimp was tasty. The sides were also done very well. My wife commented on the rolls multiple times. The music was played at a nice volume and made it possible to enjoy conversations. This was a great find! read more

Simply one of the best resturant meals we have had in months. I went with a group and we each had a different dish. We started with the stuffed hushpuppies. We slmost ordered another roundI I had the fish filets (catfish) with a baked potato. The fish was light with a great fish to breading ratio. The potato was solid. I sampled shrimp (grilled and fried), the ribey, and chicken tenders. Each was and outstanding example of what it was. Highly recommend visiting. We live 30min away and will be back. read more

Went for lunch, and they have a menu which includes a drink. That's nice. I ordered a salad, and asked for light cucumbers and no croutons. I got no cucumbers and extra croutons. The portion was small for the price. She did offer to make it over, but I told her I'd just pick them off. I realized it didn't come with the bacon that was listed in the menu, so I asked. Server told me that it was a typo in the menu, but she'd bring some anyway "no extra cost." I mean, I hope so since it was listed that way in a laminated menu. If it's a typo, mark it out with a sharpie. My companion ordered hush puppies but didn't the stuffed ones he was supposed to get. His chicken sandwich was HUGE and her really enjoyed it. I would give the place another try since my companion likes it, but I was really disappointed. read more

It was our first time and we arrived around 11:30 after a 22 mile bike ride. Wanted to eat locally before driving home and the reviews were great so we gave it a try. Asked the waitress what they were famous for and she said, "our fish." So we took her advice and ordered the fish and chips (house sliced potatoes fried) and wow was it delicious. The fish was perfectly cooked and had a nice crispy batter and the homemade potato slices were bloody awesome. Perfectly fried and lightly salted. A terrific combination of fish and chips. Service was very good, bathroom was clean and the setting was simple but nice. By noon the place was packed! Liked it so much I made the comment to my wife that we need a homemade place like this in Huntsville. Maybe they will open a second location? Outstanding food at a very reasonable price. Lunch menu is pretty much the same as dinner but is a $1 cheaper and comes with a drink. My only negative is they do not offer a Military discount. Perhaps management will reconsider that! This is one of those places where, for me, the food really only deserves 3 stars. But, thanks to very lovely service and what I feel is a fun, creative, interesting menu, they get a 4. Ro's is a smaller restaurant; there's even less seating on the inside than you'd think there would be looking at it from the outside. Decor is relatively simple but clean and comfortable. Our waiter was a very pleasant young man who wore his long hair in a sort of ponytail/bun thing. I didn't catch his name, but he was warm, pleasant, patient, and took the time to answer all our questions and meet all our requests. He did a really great job! We had the hush puppy appetizer, or the Bearded Stuffed Pups: their hush puppies loaded with cheese and bacon bits. They were served with some kind of creamy sauce that was a little on the ranch-y side but wasn't ranch. Super peppery. The pups themselves were pretty good; a little low on the bacon bits but crunchy. These are the sweeter sorts of hush puppies, which I like. However, they did have a sort of weird after taste. Also, I will mention that we really wanted the Rueben egg rolls, but they were out. Sad face. My parents split the fish and chips and a side salad. They said the salad was fresh and tasty. The fish in the fish and chips actually turned out to be catfish, which they weren't expecting. My mom doesn't really like catfish, but she said it was actually pretty good. The fish pieces weren't super big, though. My boyfriend and I both had the chicken fingers with toast and fries. One other cool menu option is you can make fries or chips loaded (with cheese and bacon bits) for an extra dollar. I opted to try that. Overall, I thought the chicken tenders were, again, a little on the small side. It's weird -- there was too much food, yet...they still felt kinda small. I dunno. Maybe I'd call it an issue with presentation? I'd rather have 2-3 meaty tenders than 4 wimpy ones. At any rate, the breading wasn't super crispy or flavorful, but it was alright. The house made ranch was tasty. I didn't like the toast at all; it wasn't especially crispy and didn't have much flavor. Sadly, the loaded fries were a bit of a miss, too. There wasn't much bacon and the melted cheese got cold and gloopy really quickly. Overall, though, thanks to outstanding service and a creative, flexible menu, I'd revisit Ro's if I was given the opportunity. read more
