What a nice coffee shop is D&M! Located in the building on one of the main drags in Ellensburg, the place looks like a cabin with a drive-through on either side. The doors in look like they would be ones that you pull open, however they are push doors. Avoid looking like the kid from the far side cartoon! Upon entering, it's definitely a combination of yard sale furniture, a very nice lacquered table with "Ellensburg Bulldogs" written on it, some old-school gas pumps and lots of windows to let in plenty of natural light. Eccentrically eclectic describes this place well! Lots of different caffeinated options exist here, though I must say they make a mean redeye - drip coffee with a shot of espresso. Interestingly, it's becoming the exception rather than the norm when I find such a drinks that doesn't have an acidic bitter bite at the end of it. Call this has a really nice low intensity bitter coffee flavor that remains really smooth throughout. Definitely something that I will be ordering again. Lots of sweet drinks are available and they have a number of food options including some muffins and a couple salads. I decided to sit and read for a bit. The place was a bit louder than I had expected, you're not the sort of adult conversation bar, but rather the machines they had really loud it after a while made it kind of annoying to try to study anything. In addition, the seating options included some old-school metal folding chairs that look like they belong in (or are part of) a 50s patio set. There was also seating on benches under the windows. These two are covered with, what appeared to be, cushions purchased either from an old church or at another yard sale. After sitting for about 20 minutes I decided that these were great for pictures, but less great for actual sitting. All in all, cool spot, good coffee, free Wi-Fi and less than plush surroundings.This is the sort of spot it's great to grab something to go or to come hang out for a short period of time, but not the sort of place that makes it super easy to come study for hours on end. I started going to D&M in college, and still stop in whenever I come through town! Just wanted to give a heads up. . . their lobby hours don't match their drive through hours. It doesn't change how much I love my Claussen, and they were very nice about it, just a bummer not being able the get out of the car when that was part of our purpose. read more

Really neat coffee shop, love the old gas station vibe they have! Staff is very friendly and efficient. Bummed they didn't have cold brew, but their iced espresso drinks are excellent. Their cookies and sandwiches looked tempting although I didn't try any. They play good music too! read more

The place is my favorite kind of coffee shop--great coffee, freshly baked goods, & a few lunch options as well. It's the kind of funky, homespun café that was more predominant before a certain big corporate coffee shop from Seattle took over the globe. The coffee was really good, and the marionberry scone was phenomenal. The service was friendly and efficient. We will definitely stop by again next time we are in town. read more

I've been going here consistently for about a year and am finally calling it quits. The coffee is great, but don't ever expect to get what you order. Also, if you get an iced coffee, bring a bib because the cups always leak. It has become such a bad experience to get coffee here, the service is not up to par with the price. read more

So thankful they had delicious milk alternatives (some coffee places alternatives are disgusting!) and the recommended house made caramel syrup was totally the right choice. I usually come here a lot, especially as a college student, and the drinks are always pretty good (not consistent, but still good). However, today I was at the window right off of water st and the milk the barista was using was expired. when the barista set the milk on the counter, I was able to see the sell-by date stated very clearly, "July 2nd." I asked the barista about it and they stated that management told them to use it because milk can sometime be good for a few days after the sell-by date. The barista at the window was still very kind throughout the interaction and made a great redbull drink though. I understand this is a small business and milk can be expensive, but that is unacceptable. I switched my drink to a redbull and still left caffeinated but feeling bad for everyone who bought coffee. read more

Went here Friday with my fiancé and a friend who was stopping in town for a bit. We were the only 3 people in the shop. My fiancé ordered a caramel macchiato I believe. Our friend a panini or some sandwich, and coffee. We got the drinks fairly quick and our friend was waiting forever for his sandwich. After a long time of us sitting and chatting, he went up to ask about the sandwich and the girl who took our orders forgot all about it I guess. It was only made because he went and reminded them of his order. I thought that was a bit strange as it was empty besides us, not busy or anything. This used to be an inexpensive coffee shop but they're prices have increased so much recently that it doesn't make it worth it anymore. It's sad that I can get a venti frap from Starbucks for the same price as a single 16 oz granita at D&M. They're popular "claussen" is also in the $5 range (which is ridiculous for an Americano...) pastries and food are fresh-ish, but cookies are usually hard and stale. Customer service is decent, but doesn't make up for overpriced coffee. Also watch the pricing, I find it varies depending on location and barista. I also question the cleanliness considering how their decor, coffee & food containers, etc haven't changed at all in over 10 years (probably longer) doesn't seem to ever be updated which makes me wonder if they ever deep clean. read more
