When she brought out the dish, there were two large ones on it because they're normally larger (!) and she wanted us to have the equivalent. It was hot and delicious and between the three of us, we polished off 2/3 of it right away. I ordered the veggie pesto hash. Soooo yummy. I ordered mine without zucchini because it's just not a breakfast veggie to me lol. I did not notice or taste any pesto in the dish but the hollandaise was excellent on top. I tried their gravy to determine what bread I wanted (biscuit was an option) and it was so good. I'm such a gravy snob and this was quite flavorful with a creamy texture. I could barely finish my hash so I didn't touch the biscuit and gravy but our daughter will have it for leftovers this week. Randy ordered the pig and vine bene with hash browns. The bacon on his was crumbles instead of actual pieces of bacon so that was disappointing and he said the hash browns were cooked inconsistently with some of it being overcooked and all of it lacking flavor. Corina ordered the three meat hash and liked it a lot. She could only eat half - the portions are large - so more leftovers for her. This is a super cute place with indoor seating and what looked like a covered patio dining area. We will definitely be back.

Even though there were multiple options we considered, we thought stopping at Cle Elum will give us enough gap before we stop for lunch later in the day. One of the top choices we had was Sunset Cafe. It's located in the main street with a lot of parking spots on the roadside. We walked into a typical diner place with some great ambiance and interiors. They do have multiple dining areas and we got ourselves a booth. The interior decorations speaks a lot about the local and Washington history. They do offer omelettes, classic break fast options + Sunset specials. Their offerings are family recipes passed down through generations. We started with coffee. Ordered Got Blues from the specials, Greek scramble a stack of pancakes. There were a very few customers at the time - so I decided to walk around and explore. They do sell pies, brownies, cinnamon rolls. And they are popular as well. I have seen many walking into get those. They do have a bar and lounge as well. The food arrived relatively quick. It was a scrumptious breakfast for us. Kids had a great time enjoying the sweet treats as well. Got Blues was on point - delicious! The best among our pick! Service was top! The staffs were very friendly. We were helped by Nancy that day. She loves to talk about their food and the pies. Lovely personality! We did pick up pies on our way out as well. The food was great; service was amazing. It was a perfect stop for us and great start for our road trip! They are on instagram - sunsetcafe_loosewolf Highly recommended!

Their pie selection is incredible, with so many options it was hard to choose just one. The service was fantastic, friendly, and attentive throughout our meal. Typical classic American diner food at typical classic American diner prices. It is what it is…read more Hot turkey commercial sandwich was as expected: open face pile of turkey breast meat on bread alongside mound of mashed potatoes, all of it slathered in a tsunami of gravy. Bread was toasted & buttered so had an extra hit of flavor for that. Gravy ran to the salty side, but not strongly enough to give your mouth that salt burning sensation I've bumped into a few times in the past. Complimentary cranberry sauce offered a bright note to the meal. Overall a substantial plate o' food that was pretty middle of the road flavor wise. Portion was truck driver mondo!! Definitely enough to fuel you over the pass to Seattle or all the way to Spokane, depending on which way you're headin'. Word of warning: Expect to do laundry when you get home. Smell of oil from the diner's fryer is dominant enough to register strongly as soon as you enter the door shared with the Circle J convenience store next door. As noted, typical-typical-typical. It is what it is.

Worst steak I have ever had. Seriously…read more I ordered food delivered, so I figured it would come not super hot or anything. But when I got my $30 steak I was seriously flabbergasted. It looked like a piece of tree or something. It was SO dry and a terrible cut of meat. I was not expecting anything fancy, but I am not exaggerating when I say this was the WORST STEAK I HAVE EVER HAD. I couldn't even eat it after a couple of bites. I was trying to think of something I could make it into, but it was seriously so gross I just had to throw it away, and I hate wasting food. When I ordered it, I specified medium rare and even added the note "on the rare side" since I figured it would keep cooking during delivery. What I got was well-done, brown all the way through, like a fucking hockey puck. The soup was gross and weirdly fatty (like a whole bunch of grease floating in it). The mashed potatoes and gravy were pretty much what I expected-- mostly flavorless and pale. When I contacted the restaurant, they said I had to take it up with the delivery company. I told them, yeah, but you are the ones who cooked this steak. They said to mention it "next time" I come in. I told them I just wanted a refund, as I have no intention of eating there ever. They refused.
