As a woman, I feel fortunate to have found such an honest mechanic. This place never disappoints with their fair pricing and quality of service. After getting a quote at a dealership for a 40K mile check up and oil change for $900, I went to D and R and they checked my vehicle and did the same service for $150. Unbelievable. My car started overheating as I arrived in Sarasota from Philadelphia. It was supposed to be a quick trip to drop my son off at college, and D&R fit me right in the next morning. They ran through a list of possible causes and ruled out a lot of things. Even though they performed several tests, they said they wouldn't charge me because they were worried that I wouldn't make it back up north before having to pay for a mechanic or tow. They did offer to take the diagnostic process to another level, but my van is old and on her last leg so I decided not to dump a bunch of money on it since the usual causes were ruled out. These guys are amazing. My transmission was toast, it was at the dealer but I was calling D&R asking questions and probably driving them crazy. they gave me way more info and honestly, a ton more reassurance so I had my car towed to them and had my transmission changed. it was done in two days. Really nice guys here - especially Don! I brought my Hyundai Veloster in today for an oil change and they got the change done within a few hours. I live pretty close by (within walking distance), so D & R Automotive turned out to be a quick and convenient place to get my car serviced. They also check the tire pressure, the fluids, and everything else along with the oil change, as is typical in any other place. What I love most about this spot, though, is that it is a family-run establishment. I rather give my business to a small, locally-owned automotive business than a big box store. read more

Truly the best place to go. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area or having car issues coming from Out of town. On the Fourth of July weekend I had car issues visiting my grandma in longboat key. I had driven 8 hours from Atlanta Georgia and I was really stressed out because I had just gotten both axle replaced 4 days before I left. Danny was honest and efficient with his response when he called me with his examination. I needed a new axle and wheel bearings. He saved the brand new axle I had because it was the wrong size so it fell into my wheel bearings. Anyways he even documented it on the receipt so I could try to get my money back from the mechanic in Georgia. I wish they were location in Atlanta so I could have a trustworthy local mechanic. This place was wonderful! I submitted a request for an appointment the next day and they replied the next day saying I could bring my car right in whenever I was done with work. I explained that I'm from across the country and they did an awesome job explaining why my maintenance required light came on and what they were doing. They were visibly busy, but all of the staff--in addition to the front desk staff in charge of answering the phone and greeting people--went out of their way to say hi and ask how I was doing while sitting in the waiting room. I will definitely be going back if I ever have car issues again. read more
