Thanks wasting 5 minutes of my life on hold waiting for someone to take my order for pick up. I would of hung up sooner but felt since I had already vested the time on hold. I waited the 5 minutes just to see if someone would actually pick up. This location has to be the absolute worst in the state.. and as I drove by there 10 minutes later there was only 1 customer that I could see in the store. So they weren't slammed. I used to work there. I know that the food is fresh, I cut the onions, meats,and all the vegetables every day. The soups are fresh, the lobster bisque was always sold out daily The broccoli and cheese soup is so delicious. The bread for the sandwiches was always fresh. I still eat there till this day. This location is pretty sloppy. They aren't entirely on top of they game as far as getting the order right, and are indifferent to fixing it. If you can go to another location, I would. The quality of ingredients is the same as anywhere else. They have min customer service with a 'take it or leave it' attitude. Stopped at a rest stop on the Mass Pike on my way home. Ordered a steak, egg and cheese pocket. Had to wait 20 mins to get my order which surprised me as there was only one order before me. Steak and cheese with mushrooms, hot pepper relish and mayo, cooked lightly (yes, they can do that, there is a button on the register for that) Order was almost an hour to get delivered, was cold. I've been a customer of D'Angelo's for over 30 years at several locations. Always have gotten a good sandwich. The service has always been slow as sh1t though. I've waited over 45 minutes several times after ordering at the counter. Tonight though.... The place was busy. 5 people working (like the Keystone Cops) Customers storming out with their food after a long wait. One gentleman was getting impatient and was finally called for his sandwich. 10 minutes after, a woman was called up for her order, inwhich they "forgot" to make one of her TWO sandwiches!! As she walked out saying "just keep it!!" Another customer tried stopping her to let her take his turn to have her order completed. She was so pissed that she still left without the sandwich even though she paid for it. Then, the guy who already got his sandwich and left was called again!! So there was an abandoned sandwich (it wasn't even the ladies missing one either) Phones ringer at least 20 rings, total total confusion.. Then, my order comes up... They doubled my sandwiches, so that instead of two, I got four!! At least the entertainment was good. A rather "heavy" girl cooking did all of the customers a favor by bending over to pick up something, and by doing so, her baggy jeans came down and showed us all at least 6 inches of @ss crack!! Now in their defense, the kitchen area is way too confined and dangerous. Usually when I go during the week, the female manager witj the cool tattoos and an older woman are there. I will NEVER return to this location. After ordering to-go the order was someone else's order. Two orders before were completely wrong and orders after were wrong. I waited almost thirty minutes for a re-made sandwiches. As others were complaining, staff members began to throw things and cuss under their breath. Never have I ever been this uncomfortable in a restaurant. This is a shame as I love D'angelo and have been going for years. I got a steak and cheese from here the other day. There was so many onions in it that I couldn't eat it. I brought it back to the restaurant tried to explain the fact that it was just all onions and I couldn't eat it. The manager came over responded to me with such an attitude. You'll get a good sandwich if they make it correctly. It's like going to Foxwoods... It's a gamble. Have been here many times and had good experiences, quickly made, correct and proper temperature for what I ordered but it really depends on the staff they have on. The Greek wrap is my wife's favorite and she's very picky. The Thanksgiving sandwich is mine. Other places make that type of sandwich but it's not as good as D'Angelos. The kitchen area appears to be pretty cramped for space so I think that may be part of the problem with their organization skills. On top of the fact that almost every woman that works there is obese so moving and getting around for them is very cramped. I'm not trying to put anyone down about their weight. I'm a big guy myself. Just saying that the kitchen needs more room for their employees to do their job properly. On the times that a mistake is made however, the employees act like you're looking to get the Sistene Chapel ceiling repainted. They need to understand that listening skills are very important and if they don't understand the order they need to get clarification rather than screw it up and remake it, wasting resources. read more

I came here Friday night after storming out of a D'Angelo in West Warwick (see other review). Unlike the D'Angelo I just left, which was as dead as a tomb, this place was busy, but they had enough staff. What pissed me off here was that only one person seemed to be able, or willing, to take my order. THREE other workers had a lull in the action and could have taken my order, but they kept telling me I had to wait for the person who was on the phone, presumably taking a phone order. I waited ... waited ,,, and waited, as my blood pressure rose and other workers literally stood there with nothing to do at several points during that time span. So finally the guy gets off the phone and takes my order for a medium steak and mushroom grilled sandwich. When he hands me the receipt, I notice it read steak, cheese and mushroom - obviously, he has listening comprehension issues, because I did NOT ask for cheese. I didn't say anything to him, but I stood right at the counter to watch the person working the grill, and when I saw her reach for the cheese, I told her NO cheese on that sandwich, to which she seemed to be slightly annoyed at the order. I got the sandwich to go and ate it at home. It was NOT one of the better steak sandwiches I've had, mainly because they failed to adequately clean the grill in between orders. My sandwich had a burnt taste to it, but I was so hungry I ate it anyway. As other reviewers have said, in so many words, the quality of help has gone downhill these days. read more

I'm always in the mood for a good sandwich. I've never had a Thanksgiving Feast sandwich until I came here....and it was the best sandwich ever!!! The bread is what made it so good. I was happily doing a little dance in my seat and narrating myself while I ate--that's how much I loved it. I only do that when I'm eating something REALLY REALLY GOOD. The cashier--I wish I caught his name--was super friendly. And also a big Batman fan. Like, hardcore comic book Batman fan. Kudos to him, I liked that. The 1-star is only for this experience. I have been a loyal customer of D'Angelo's in Coventry for many years. Always enjoyed the food and rarely been disappointed. I have always picked up the food, but yesterday was the first time I decided to call and have it delivered. I placed the call at 5:40 pm for two sandwiches. The person who took the order said it would be delivered in 30 minutes (6:10). At 6:25 I called the restaurant and the person who answered (turned out to be the manager?) said it was in the queue and should already be in the car with the driver. I called back at 6:45 saying the order hadn't arrived. I was told again it should be there within minutes. Finally, I called back at 7:20 pm telling them I still hadn't received the order and to cancel it. One hour and 40 minutes after placing the order and still not delivered? While I might still go back for the sandwiches, I'll never order delivery. I think that night manager might need some training on being honest with customers.\ read more

I don't know what is up with the staff at this place. They told me to hold when I called and it was legit a ten minute hold. I thought they forgot about me, I hung up and called back and waited another 5 minutes. If I wasn't placing a order for someone else I probably would of given up. I was trying to tell the girl on the phone my order, she was messing everything up when trying to repeat it back to me. I hear a soft bang and then she is gone. I am confused for a minute and then I hear her start yelling "I CANT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING THEY ARE SAYING" I looked to check my cell service and it seemed fine, I had just made a call before this one too... A man comes on and asks what the problem is. I said "I don't know, she didn't tell me anything, next thing I know she's upset and now you're taking the order" He reads back what she has down, which is totally wrong. Finally after a 20 minute ordeal I finally ordered the sandwich for the kid I was babysitting. I just tried them today, and I ordered online, I used coupons from Retail Me Not. They asked me for them and I told them they were web coupons, with online codes. They didn't seem to know what to do. The lady asked for my e-mail, and was strange when I said "oh I can write it. It's confusing" then messed it up like I knew would happen. I also walked in and 2 employees just stared at me didn't say hi or anything. They went about their business till the cashier came up. I guess the most important aspect is the food. Which is good and the servings are great. I won't buy without a coupon though, because the prices are so high. So if I have anymore issues with coupons I will probably not visit this establishment. It seems like someone else had the same problem. All I can say is awful!!! Ordered 2 weeks ago 3 sandwiches which took 45min to make. I said I won't be back. Obviously my memory is short because I went back again. My wife called in the order this time. She was put on hold for 15 min and no one ever came back to answer. She then called back again and was put on hold for another 5 minutes. Finally she put the order in. I arrived 25 min later to pick up the order, the only problem was they could not find the order. Finally they found the order after 5 more minutes. Next problem was that they never even started the order. I then waited another 30 minuets for the order. I got the order home and it was awful. The steak and cheese was totally burnt. Horrible! Ordered online. Total came to 30 33. Waited 10 minutes and never got a confirmation email. I called in my order and was told their system wasn't working. When she gave me my total it was 7 bucks more! When I objected she argued with me for about 5 minutes. Finally,she said the manager would take 3 dollars off. Still more than I would have paid online.I asked for the corporate # and "they couldn't find it ". My husband was already on his way so I let the order stand. Immediately after I hung up I received the confirmation email. 30.33 was the total. I called the shop back and told the girl about the discrepancy. She argued for about 5 minutes and after I asked to speak to the manager TWICE she handed it to her. The manager was completely unhelpful and my husband had already picked up and paid for the food. My family has had multiple experiences where we call in orders and they aren't even close to being right (especially when we say we're allergic to something and it still ends up on the sandwich). In desperation for a quick lunch I decided to give ordering in store a try and I can see the problem. The manager was making someone else's sandwich while taking my order. I gave her the option to finish, I was fine waiting (i was the only one in store) but she insisted. She then made two more sandwiches and started in on mine immediately starting with the wrong meat. I thought it was someone else's until she came over with it to ring me up. When I asked her to fix it she said she had put the right things on it. I got my receipt and she upcharged me for a change in cheese (american to provolone) and charged me for the rest of the correct ingredients and sandwich. I thought maybe I had zoned out because the receipt was right but when I got to work it was the wrong sandwich and the cheese wasn't even provolone so not only did she refuse to change a mistake she knew she made but she upcharged me for ingredients she knew she didn't include. I'm done giving this place second, third and fourth chances. If the manager doesn't care about her job then no wonder the rest of the staff doesn't try either. ***as a side note, the bread was also being kept uncovered on a rack on the floor with nothing underneath it and it was a muddy, rainy day. There was a time when a meatball sub from D'Angelo's was a solid and tasty choice. That was about 20 years ago now. Cold bread, unmelted cheese, 2 meatballs slopped together. The meatballs themselves are respectable but some attention to overall quality would be appreciated. read more

Use to love D'Angelo grinders. Worked at the one in Westerly when they first opened up a long time ago. The last two times we ordered large steak & cheese grinders at the shop in Coventry it was terrible. For the price you pay, you do expect to get some meat in the grinders.
