    Grille chicken sub.
    Kenny D.

I heard a lot of good things about this place and hoped it would be a 5 star experience - especially since I love subs. Overall, it was above average but not spectacular. The grilled chicken sub was nice and flavorful, with an over-abundance of chicken. The spicy Italian sub, however, was solid but mostly forgettable. It had an over-abundance of banana peppers and pickles, but not in a good way. It gave the sub an excessively tangy flavor without much to offset it. It also wasn't very spicy; I expected a lot more kick. While it's not a sub I'd get again, I certainly would try the grilled chicken sub again, as well as sample other offerings.

Pastrami could've been cheesier but was very good

Their subs are very good and large. They whip them up pretty nice. A great standard sub shop, my go to in Rhode Island outside of Cosmic Pizza. I definitely regularly come here.

I was down street at PepBoys and needed lunch . I saw good reviews on Yelp. Ordered a small meatball heated .Excellent, nice melted provolone, roll nice and fresh, onions, sauce all good. Excellent sandwich shop... 6 other people can in for pick up orders... so obviously a good go to spot.

I was in the mood for a sub and decided to give this place a try. I went ahead and ordered a steak, grilled peppers, onions and mushrooms sub. The meat lacked flavored. It was quiet huge for the price paid ($16 including tax) in my opinion. The service was friendly and there are only 2 tables that fit 4 people and 6- booth seats.

This is one of our favorites that we go to almost weekly. The food is always good and the owner and staff are always friendly and accommodating. The large sandwiches are enough for 2 meals.

First word that comes to mind is overpriced. Good sandwiches but nothing special. They size of the bag of chips they offer is pathetic too.

The place looks new and very clean. The girls working there were friendly and quick to bring your items to you. I got the Rhody Latte, think coffee milk meets latte and shared a chicken parm and an Italian sandwich. The Italian was good but the star was the chicken parm for me. The sauce was great and really made the sandwich for me. The coffee, to me, was good but the coffee milk portion overpowered the coffee flavor. It's worth trying unless you're a coffee purist. All in all I would go back and try other drinks and sandwiches, and maybe one of those delicious looking cookies.

The place is super bright, airy and open - seating lining the wall as well as a few comfy arm chairs with tables and more seating past the ordering counter. Service was very friendly - everyone was warm and full of smiles. For sammiches, we ordered the Italian and the Chicken Parm. For coffees, we got the Rhody latte and honey latte. I snuck in a potato salad and brownie - who's counting calories at this point? We opted to eat in so grabbed a seat and our sammiches came out 5-10 mins later. The chicken parm - chef's kiss! It was super tasty with a good amount of sauce overflowing on top of the fried chicken cutlets. It was so good I was tempted to order one to go and it was a good sized portion! The mister got the Italian, although not the best we've had still very good - good portions as well. The potato salad was meh - could use a pinch of salt. The lattes weren't bad - I didn't mind my honey latte but the mister was just ok with the Rhody latte - he felt with the autocrat syrup, it was fighting with the espresso flavor. All in all - I would absolutely come back for another chicken parm sammich and would like to try some of their other options.

The first rule of Famous Pizza was not mine…read more I married into it. My in-laws lived in the Oak Haven section of Coventry, and Famous was their pizza place. Same for most of the people they knew. Famous had a West Warwick address, but it belonged to them. The order came with the family. Always get the square. Extra sauce. No explanation. No tasting flight. No committee formed to consider the round. That was their pizza. Thirty years later, Famous has 18 other pizzerias within a ten-minute drive. There is a Domino's directly across Main Street, just in case the competition was feeling too subtle. There are newer places making newer styles. There are pizzas with longer fermentation schedules and enough information printed on the menu to qualify for college credit. Famous still makes the square. And they make it really well. The stream of customers that were coming in while we talked for an hour spoke to that. Oftentimes people walking out with four or five pizzas in their hands. The classics do not owe anyone reinvention. They owe people consistency. Keep making the thing they loved in the first place, and make it well enough that they still want it after the world around it gives them 18 other choices. Lauren and I met up with Kirk and Tracy at Famous for lunch. Kirk is the director of The Pizza Principal. Tracy is its executive producer. The four of us were there to talk about what comes next as we work toward getting the movie onto a screen in Providence this November and, from there, onto screens across the country. Three decades ago, my family had me picking up Famous on Saturday nights because they made the best pizza nearby. Now I'm sitting at one of its tables discussing how to put a movie about my life with pizza into theaters. Life can really throw you some curveballs, man. We ordered the square with extra sauce, pepperoni and black olives. It arrived with just the right amount of cheese. Plenty of pepperoni. Plenty of olives. Sauce visible underneath and pushing toward the edges. The bottom was a topographical map of dark brown blistering and lighter pockets. The crust crunched when I bit through it, then turned chewy underneath. Golden brown. Sturdy. Strong enough to carry all that sauce, cheese and topping without collapsing under the weight of its own decisions. The extra sauce is still the right move. Thick, but not pasty. Flavorful. Basil right out front, with enough body to stand up to the crust and all that cheese. Good cheese, too. The pepperoni had crisped in spots, while a little grease collected in the cups exactly where it belonged. Nobody has ever improved pepperoni by making it apologize for the grease. Even the black olives did their job. That should not be remarkable, but on a heavily topped pizza, olives often become decoration. Black circles buried under stronger flavors. These still tasted like olives. The crust, sauce, cheese, pepperoni and olives came together without turning into one big, heavy, indistinguishable flavor. Each part held its ground. Together, they made for a very good, traditional pizza. Pretty much the one I remembered. Famous does not need clever reinvention after all these years. Families have been carrying those square boxes back across the Coventry line for decades. Mine was one of them. The classic survived because it stayed good. If you haven't been in a while, this is a great time for you to feel that nostalgia and have a nice pizza too. Square. Extra sauce. You're welcome.

We really enjoy their square pizza cooked well done. It's good next day as left overs too. I think the pizza sauce has changed recently.
