I've visited this establishment many times, and it's always the same experience. They quote 30 minutes for the Friday scallop special, but it's never ready in under an hour. Despite swearing I wouldn't return, I decided to give it one last chance. I called at 7:15 to place my order, and the woman assured me it wouldn't take longer than 30 minutes because the rush was over. I specifically confirmed that it wouldn't be an hour, and she insisted it would be ready in 30 minutes. I arrived after 35 minutes and went inside. A woman asked for my name and went to check on my order, only to tell me it would take another 7-8 minutes. I said that was fine and waited in my car for another 15 minutes. When I went back inside, I waited an additional 6 minutes before another woman asked what I was waiting for. I explained I was waiting for scallops. The first woman then reappeared, and I asked why it had taken so long, especially since I'd been told earlier it would only take 7-8 minutes longer, and Iliad been much longer than that She conferred with the second woman, who confirmed I was still waiting. The first woman then turned to me and said"oh, so you asked her too", to which I replied "no I did not, she asked me what I was waiting for, and I told her scallops." She replied in a very condescending way,, OK, honey, OK, honey" and grinned. Five minutes later, they finally handed me my order. Had I not already paid, I would have just left and let them enjoy the scallops themselves. I can understand occasionally being late, and being sorry. What I cannot except is the rude behavior of the little blonde cashier/waitress. Referring to a grown woman, who was obviously upset as "Honey" in the manner she did, was unacceptable. Still in the parking lot, I opened up my order. The scallops were not even done as you can see in the picture. They were cold to the touch h and undercooked. The last time I was here, after waiting for 45 minutes, they admitted that they completely forgot to put my order in and gave it to me for free, after waiting an additional 45 minutes. I should have stopped patronizing this establishment at that point. Based in the reviews, this is a normal occurrence. The scallops are small, but typically pretty good. The service and amount of time it takes for the food to be ready, is consistently terrible. This local establishment has lost me as a customer for good. I also want to point out that I learned about this place from a gentleman that I work with who used to order the scallops here every Friday night. He no longer frequents this establishment and now neither do I. read more

We came for an easy dinner tonight, but were here well over one and a half hours- for club sandwiches! Service was ok, and the place was as busy as we have ever seen it! Takeout here is tremendous! There were many people sitting at the bar. The one thing to remember when coming here is that food is made to order, in order, that the slip is received. If you are ordering at a busy time, you will definitely be waiting quite a while for your food. We ordered club sandwiches, one was turkey and the other chicken cutlet. We never got the sweet potato fries, but after waiting for almost an hour, we didn't want to wait . Pizza and calzones always take a long time, says so on the menu. If you like Sicilian pizza (thick crust square shape) this is the place to go. Been going there for over two decades. Highly recommend it.

Pizza was OK. The cashier was friendly and personable, and the inside was quaint and seemed nice. The person on the phone, while taking my order, was arguing back and forth with co-workers about pizza boxes and the number of people working... everything I said I had to keep repeating. Should've really hung up, but I had heard enough good things about them I really wanted to try them. Also was quoted 35-40 minutes and it was closer to 50, and it didn't seem that busy. read more

I have been going here since I was a kid with my family and have never been disappointed. Joe, Sam, James and Corey make the best authentic Italian food in the area! Comfortable seating at the booths or bar. The service is great, always greeted with a smile, feels like eating at home. They always know what I want. The pizza is my favorite, Sam's meatloaf is amazing , the meatballs are delicious too, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I hope they never close! read more

I used to live less than a mile from this place and ABSOLUTELY LOVED their pizza (perfect amount of sauce and toppings!!!) and their wings are to DIE FOR!! Tried the fish and Chips here at J Palmieri and it was delicious! Has to be one of my go to spots for a Friday night fish n chip. The fish was nice and fresh, fell apart nicely. The French fries were a little over cooked but hey I love any kind of fry. As you can see I couldn't help myself and started eating before taking a picture haha! I just had lunch from J's. I work around the corner and had tried it a few times over the years. I stopped going and mainly becuase I did not like the staff. They were very unfriendly and seamed miserable. I did see them act different toward regulars, literally night and day. On a whim, I wanted a BLT today so I placed my order. I was in for a surprise when I entered and the restaurant had been updated! Looked very nice. New extra tables, new booths, a new menu posted on the wall with a nice daily specials board, etc... I have to say the new staff I encountered were very nice and pleasant! I asked for extra crispy bacon and I got it. It was a pretty tasty sandwich. I have to say, I do think they are overpriced at $7 for a BLT with no chips or fries! read more

This place is a great spot for lunch, especially when you are hungry. They sell a lot of calzones, but I haven't tried one yet because I love the sandwiches to much. The best Italian sub around. Packed with meat, it's hard to eat there is so much in it. They also have a great meatball parmesan. read more

The portions are great for the price. The food is very tasty and hot. Depending on how busy the food may take a little while to come out but it is very worth it. Stopped in by happenstance. The interior was a little shaky and almost left. But we were starving. So you will see what looks like it was a deli with a glass display case, joined up by a bar and your typical, 'I didn't escape the 70's booths.' People at the bar seemed to be regulars, kind of lounging around. One girl had her shoes off and feet resting on the stool next to her. So being new to NE, I will just assume this is kind of normal behavior. So, what you really want to know. The food. First, the pizza, which is all we ate, was fantastic. The crust was thicker, but crisp on the edges and soft inside. The toppings were all cut fresh and were piled on. The meats were not frozen little rabbit dropping things, but full on hand pulled meats. We ordered a large House Special. Usually, with the way places are today, a large feeds my family of three and we have a few slices left over. In this case, a large is what a large meant in the 70's. It was huge. It was rectangle and not round. It fed the family in less than half the pizza. We ad to take about 60% home. The cost of the pizza was less than $20. I think you could get a large single topping for less than $15.00. Anyway, the family loved it and it made for great breakfast fare and snack material. My only draw back, the interior looks neglected and be warned, the Large will take about 25 minutes to get to your table. But worth every second. read more

My sister-in-law and twin 15-year-old nephews stopped in here during a visit with us recently, and came bearing leftover bags that looked like they'd robbed a bank, there was so much loot. The sheer quantity of food that was still left after eating to their hearts' content was nothing short of astounding...and all the more so because they couldn't stop raving about how delicious the food was. Bulk is one thing, but bountiful tastiness had me interested. I got an eggplant calzone (bigazyahead) that looked like the rock Excalibur was extracted from when I went to cut into the thing. And it was Tasty with a capital T. The rest of my family ate like kings and, true to form, our refrigerator is packed to the gills with tomorrow's lunches. Great value for delicious Italian deli style offerings. If you are in the mood for an Italian sandwich of any kind whether it be a grinder or a meatball sandwich or veal parm or chicken parm then try to make your way over to Plainfield Pike because it will be worth the trip. It is less than 5 minutes from Route 295 and the food is just excellent. It's a small sandwich shop with personal help and very kind people. Prepare yourself for the size of the sandwich that you will receive. They are very hefty and just as good the next day if you heat them up. We love to come here whenever we get a chance and have never tried really anything except the sandwiches. Someday I'm going to try something else that they have but when we have a craving for an Italian sandwich that is of high quality then this is the place that we go read more

If you like a thick pizza then this is the place for you. I am 30 and have been getting pizza from there with my family since 5 and they got it from there long before. It is always great and up to par. We always get a large pizza with pepperoni, olives, green peppers, mushrooms, cheese. Depending on how they ring it up it is usually $20-$22 range by now I believe. I can assure you though even with this price it is well worth it! I am usually what some may call a "Bottomless Pit" however I cannot eat more than 3 pieces! If you like thick pizza try it out! Won't be back. We ordered a large Pepperoni and Cheese pizza with bacon and banana peppers, and a side of Mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were good, but the pizza was only ok. They put wayyyy too many hot pepper rings on top, which gave us acid reflux all night. The crust was pretty plain. I will give some credit and say that it seemed like they used a good quality cheese. But it certainly wasn't the kind of pizza I'd crave to have again. The other major deal breaker was the fact that I called in my order for pick up at 5:27 pm (time is displayed on my cell phones call history) and was advised it would take 30 minutes, but ended up waiting and waiting for it be ready until 6:21 pm, (the time on my credit card receipt). So it literally took them almost a full hour to fulfill my order. And this was on a Mon night with a pretty simple order in my opinion. read more

I heard about this place from a co-worker and my wife and I decided to try it out. The place is a little on the small side but there is decent seating. My wife had the stuffed shells and enjoyed them, and I ended up having a chicken parm calzone. The calzones take 30 minutes to make and are well worth it because they are made fresh to order. I came in with my husband and daughter. I ordered a calzone which takes 30 minutes to complete. It came out & was huge but the outside was over cooked & very dark. The inside was alright except there was still some raw dough on the bottom (I didn't mind because I like raw dough sometimes lol) but would I get the calzone again? No. The veggies were all very fresh except the mushrooms were canned. My husband ordered a bleu cheese burger which he said was delicious . We also ordered stuffed peppers to go.
