I had been a DArcy GMC customer since I bought my truck there in December, 2019. During those years the Service Department was responsive, courteous and professional. They seemed like they valued their customers. In May 2025, I made an appointment because I was interested in getting a new car. I made an appointment to view and test drive the GMC Hummer. In contrast to their Service Organization the Sales Department seemed truly apathetic and had no interest in customer service. When my wife and I arrived we asked for the manager by name as we were requested. He remained seated behind the front counter and motioned to another sales rep to essentially hand us off. Which is okay but not even a courtesy of a hello to a long term current customer. The Sales Rep appeared as if we were interrupting his day and could only answer a couple of basic questions. Did not have most answers about the vehicle. We asked for a test drive so we could just try it out ourselves and we liked the Hummer ev. When we got back, I shared the things I would be looking for in vehicle options. I did not hear back from the Sales Rep. A few days later, I called and asked the Sales Rep to follow up and also said I would consider 2026 models if they could not find a vehicle with the options I wanted. Surprisingly, I never heard from DArcy again. Instead, I started doing my own search on the GMC website and found a variety of different options. I happened to call Marquardt GMC in Barrington. Yes, they are almost an hour away. During the one phone call, the Sales Rep was professional, courteous, knowledgeable about all the questions I raised to him. I made an appointment with Marquardt GMC and we were greeted as we approached the entrance. Needless to say, we bought a new vehicle and drove home in it that day. Now, a word about Marquardt GMC. They are a smaller operation and around for about 75 years. They pride themselves on honesty, integrity and putting their customers first. The people were phenomenal and they addressed every area of concern and talked us through many things we needed to consider. They were thoughtful and gracious and I thank God for steering us to them. Please know I would highly recommend Marquardt GMC. I am a customer of theirs for life. I will not do business with DArcy nor could I ever recommend them to anyone. Spent over 95 minutes there, after making an appointment two weeks in advance, to get handed a $165 bill (after a "$20 discount" yet) for an oil change and two new wiper blades. If you're good with spending double the usual amount of time this service takes anywhere else and paying well over double what any other place charges, knock yourself out. Very nice people and very nice shop, but the price and the wait time for this very routine, basic service was an outrage. Well I'm an old lady on a pension. The first thing I did this AM is to tear off any sign of D'Arcy OFF MY CAR! Yes right away they start the handshakes, smiles... FAMILY?? Ha ha ha ha... I see all the reviews of stupid people who fell for it. Right away Mike Rizzoti starts yelling at me that my trade-in is not sellable....but it's worth at least 2500 in the blue book. We have bought many cars at Darcy but the customer service has declined over the years. Emilio in service is condescending. And all be wants to do is make it more difficult for people to use their services. For example, today my husband brought his car in and has an active full extended warranty that we bought thru Darcy but Emilio called my husband (after he got home) saying it wasn't active. First of all isn't that something he should validate before letting the customer leave? After much back and forth we proved it was active... but then Emilio went out of his way to say what wasn't covered and acted gleeful about it. He Hides behind ma'am and sir but he's condescending and rude. Someone needs to send him back to customer service training. I want in for service, I explained very clearly what was wrong and to drive my truck for at least a hour to feel the problem I was having with the braking system. They did nothing of the kind and preceded to just put it on a rack and just look at my rotors and brake pads and fluid....I told them many times it doesn't happen right away, but they came up with rotors had pitting on the back side of the rotors and fluid needed flushing. After paying over a thousand dollars I took it home which is less than a half hour to take a nap because I work nights, and on the way to work over a hour away, it still having the same problems...humm what should happen I'm asking??? read more

i chose darcy for an auto repair, thinking that a business that was owned by the mayor of joliet would be reliable and fix my car in one visit. long story short, 5 visit, $3,000. charged, still getting suspension error light. rather then finding a defective part, they started just changing parts in the suspension system (at my expense and time). bottom line. darcy buick can not diagnose a suspension problem! they change parts, hoping to stumble in the defective part! i would have loved to have found a reliable repair shop, but this is not it! i can not recommend them, at all. your better off taking your chances at, harry's corner auto repais and smoke shop! read more

Recall work: I had received a notice from GM to fix a potential problem with my steering. I took into Darcy and they performed the recall work. Upon leaving my vehicle was pulling to one side of the road. This was not the case before I brought it in. They offered to look at it again another day. I waited for the inspection. 1 hour later they said it was still off but they could not do anything else. Beware of recall work! You might get something covered under the recall but they might break something else. read more

I was at local gas station when someone driving a D'Arcy Buick with dealer plates pulled in. In entering station he was wobbling and clearly intoxicated as could not even put debit card in machine. I got a partial plate, called D'Arcy and spoke with GM. I was told without full plate there is nothing he can do and the customer is responsible. The service on my car was great. I have not experienced any issues with my car after being serviced. However, twice in a row, I've had the same person provide, in my opinion, poor customer service. I've not been asked for my name upon arrival (they know who I am once paperwork was completed), not ask what I need, not ask for my ID (what if someone else had my car?!), or not even walk me through what was completed on my car. I've asked on both visits for my personal information to be corrected and I get told "next time you visit update your info." It seemed to bother this person to go to a computer and update my information, but whatever is easiest for them I guess. My visits were not customized or personalized for my needs and I did not appreciate this person's work method. I felt like a number on their big screen tv in their waiting room and not a person. This is the last time I'll take my vehicles to this establishment! This place is a rip off! There's always extra charges and they always do a half job. They don't perform all the checks they only fill out the form as if they did. My tires take 75psi they wrote tires checked all 32psi. They refuse to wash my truck, claiming they're wash is sensitive. The worst thing, at least in the top, I've been charged $150 to put a grille cover on because the engine light (2020) came on. I hope the excessive fees and the expansion don't lead to greater excessive fees for the other customers sake. He was able to find a great vehicle that fit into the price point I gave him. We shopped around and it was nice to see that Mitch and his finance crew were less than everyone else we looked at. My experience working with D'arcy was a bit of a roller coaster, but ultimately it worked out nicely and I felt like they worked hard to satisfy me. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to someone. If you're interested in a GMC or Buick, it's worth the drive. After my beloved Crown Vic finally bit the dust after a loving 9-year relationship, I was in the market for a new used vehicle. As if buying a new car weren't enough of a strain, I am also thisclose to having our second child and wanted to make sure we had a vehicle before he arrived. Car shopping pregnant is bad enough, car shopping with a newborn and a 4-year-old? *shudder* I looked broadly around the Evanston area for a car in our price range that offered enough space for a family of 4 with low mileage. Shopped around a bit, and after enough research and browsing I settled on a particular model that sounded like a good fit. After honing in on this, I was able to find a certified pre-owned Buick in the model I wanted at D'arcy that was lower priced than any other dealer within 50 miles. I made an appointment to come out and look at it. Since my car is not running right now, this meant that I had to take public transportation from Evanston to Joliet, about a 2-hour adventure by train. This really wasn't the worst, but was at minimum time-consuming. I expected to be driving a car back so was okay with the hassle. When I arrived at the dealership, I asked to speak with the salesperson I had chatted with over the phone to make my appointment. She wasn't in, and apparently neither was the car I came to see. I was shocked. They had apparently sold it the day before and no on let me know. This was aggravating, to say the least. Another salesperson, Jesus, offered to see if they had anything else available for me. I'm already there and it would be another hour before I can get on a train, so I figure I might as well see what they have. Jesus looked through everything they had, gave me several options, but nothing was really hitting that sweet spot that I came in expecting. I was in no mood to be flexible or really very forgiving. Over the course of this process, he came to learn that I had come down by train and had really gone out of my way to come see this car. At this point he went at talked to Oscar (the GM?) and came back and said they had found a car just like the one I had come to see. Basically, they found a car that fit the specs of the car I had come to look at almost exactly from the manufacturer and offered to buy it and sell it to me for the price of the other one. They also said they would certify it for me, detail it, etc. They gave me a brand new fully-fueled car in the model I was interested in to drive home and keep until mine was ready, free of charge. This was, by the way, probably the only time in my life I will drive a brand new vehicle off the lot, this was a fun/nerve wracking experience all on its own. lol They were as good as their word. They had the replacement vehicle in by the next business day, detailed, inspected, and certified it so that I got just as good as a deal as I had come in expecting initially. Throughout the process they apologized about the mistake of not letting me know about the previous car being purchased, but I think what matters is that when I came to pick up the car Jesus told me that they put the word out across the dealership that they needed to double check the morning of an appointment whether the car was still in stock. I thought this showed good follow-through beyond just apologizing and making it up to me personally by trying to make sure this kind of thing didn't happen for other customers in the future. So while this wasn't maybe the fairy tale version of car buying, I got the car I wanted at a fair price without ever feeling like they were trying to rip me off or scam me. Jesus and Oscar both went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied and taken care of every step of the way, and made up for the initial mistake to my satisfaction. I'm really happy with the new car, and so is everyone else in the family. My 4-year-old said this car is better "because it is cool." Thanks for turning it around, D'arcy Buick! read more

Saturday i went to Darcy automotive in Joliet . I told Matthew ""the salesman "" i was on a budget so i needed a car for under $15.000 for my wife by Monday June 6th for work and told them that .. He seemed awesome! i found 2 that would work ,but i wanted my wife to drive them both first. So i came back the next week because they were closed on Sunday and Monday. We took a Buick rogue for a test drive and my wife didn't like it, it was a little to small. So we decided we would buy the Hyundai Veracruz instead. But they couldn't get it to start and it was getting late in the day. They told us they were bringing it into the shop and would be ready the next day. Surprise it wasnt ready the next day , theSOLD IT TO SOMEONE ELSE without even as much as a phone call to me . Will never visit again. Went to see car that was on their website, features listed online were not really features on the car. The manager tried to tell me that remote start really starting the car remotely, but since the car did not have a key and was push button, that was what remote start was, pushing the button (even though it listed push button start also as a feature). All done while laughing about it. Then told me price was $1000 more that what was listed on it. They will try to bait and switch you, treat you like you are an idiot, then jack up the price to see what they can get away with. Just an awful experience, stay away!!!!!!! read more

Leased my first Buick from this dealership 3 years ago and had a great experience. Went back to look into next vehicle and it was awful. Worked with 3 different people and they all were the typical salesmen. Even after the initial car I was looking at was sold, they kept presenting me with another vehicle. After comparing the photos of 3 vehicles located, found they were all the same care. I questioned how was it each car was photographed in the exact same location (background fencing, angle of front tires, tar patch in pavement). Told they looked similar because the cars were all the same color. When bad service crosses over to being insulting of my intelligence, that's where I end it. read more

I bought a new 2010 GMC Terrain in Dec 2009. Sales reps were ok. Financing office was ok. Service department is OUTSTANDING. They almost have to be as they are servicing defective products sold by GM. Emilio, Jim, Frank, among others have been great over the years. They offer online scheduling, Saturday service, complimentary hot and cold drinks while you wait, rental service. I took away 2 stars because the product they sell is defective. Service is amazing. To add the insult to be injury, after our last service issue we get a call from Tiffany, your Upgrade Specialist. Her sales pitch was, and I quote 'when I seen your service history for the Terrain and see that it had a lot of issues . . . I focus on upgrading our customers . . . ' Do you honestly think that we would consider purchasing another GMC when we've had nothing but trouble with this one? Came in to buy a pre-owned truck. I was told that I was approved for financing for X amount of months then when it was time to sign for the paperwork I was only approved for much less time then I was told before by the sales manager. Then when it was time to talk about my trade in I asked can you do a little better on price he rudely said no it will only save you a couple bucks per month. To a college kid every dollar saved helps out. On top of that they called us Indiana people. If it wasn't for them having the truck I was looking for I wouldn't have done business here. I'd suggest going some where else. To top it off we were about to drive away without any temporary plates. Had to go back inside find our sales man and wait another 15 minutes. I was a little surprised that I would be giving a 5 star review to a car dealership, but I was really impressed. I brought my car in for a recall fix and ended up trading in my wife's car for a minivan. They managed to quell my self loathing for buying a minivan enough to make a deal. I was pretty relaxed and not too worried about leaving without my pant and one of my arms. Mike Friscia was the salesman helping me out and did a great job. While he was putting together the paperwork I double checked his numbers and they were right on. I didn't get a steal but I didn't get hosed. He also didn't try and up sell me on any super fancy model that I didn't want. I told him what my range was and he listened. It was a very smooth transaction. Don't get me wrong, it still took forever, but it was at least 2 hours less than the last time I bought a car. The next day we found about 3 things wrong with the car and I went back and told Mike about it. They fixed everything on the car in a fairly timely manner and gave me a rental car. There was no hassle at all, which I appreciate. And they service department was on top of it too, they called and gave me an update nearly every day. I will definitely come here first when I'm looking for my midlife crisis, I mean next car. While I really have nothing bad to say my 2 year old did mention that it would have been better if they had cookies in the waiting room. But she did enjoy the hot chocolate. read more

The was the second worst car buying experience I've had in my 53 years. I have purchased and sold dozens of vehicles in my lifetime and have done so all over the United States. I traveled over two hours one way to this dealership to look at a 2016 GMC Sierra Denali and was really concerned by the push to get a sales contract, the lack of negotiation, and the outright dishonesty. The sales manager, Julio, used aggressive tactics - he was abrupt, pushed to get to a sale, and refused to negotiate at all on price. The finance manager, Rob, was aggressive and he was also dishonest in the finance and warranty discussions. Rob quoted me an interest rate 2% above where it should have been and lied to my face when I questioned it. He also told me the vehicle had no warranty and attempted to sell me a $4000 extended warranty even though this vehicle came with a Certified GM powertrain and bumper-to-bumper warranty. The only positive in the whole experience was my salesman, Jorge - he was knowledgeable and very pleasant. UPDATE: The General Manager of the dealership, Tom, did contact me directly to discuss my experience. He was apologetic and listened to my concerns. He went the extra step by compensating me for my gas. I appreciate that Tom reached out so quickly and he appeared to be very sincere. I was ready to purchase this vehicle and lost the opportunity to do so because I was concerned by the dishonesty in the finance discussions.
