This is the first time I've gone to this dealership. I previously went to Castle Subaru in McHenry where I purchased my car and had been extremely happy with them. When I called to make a service appointment they said they would be pleased to continue having me as a customer but suggested I go to a closer dealership. That is how I found Hawk Subaru in Plainfield and I am fortunate to have done so. I made an appointment and upon arrival was greeted by both the Justin the Service Manager and John the Assistant Manager. They were welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful both saying that if I had any concerns to contact them immediately. I went to the waiting area and was updated at each step by text; describing what they found, suggested doing, the cost involved and requesting my approval or rejection of each item. When I had any questions I received an immediate understandable response from John. The service provided was done efficiently, completely and in a timely manner. My charges were explained and their appreciation of my business was expressed. I shall not think twice about returning to this dealership for service and, in the event I decide to purchase another vehicle I shall return to Hawk. Elizabeth Nosaka is a terrible salesperson and should be fired. I stopped by on Friday 9/18 at around 11am to test drive a Subaru Crosstrek Base. Elizabeth greeted my father and I at the front door. We took the car for a test drive, which included a $50 Visa gift card for test driving a Subaru this month. I enquired about lease information and provided my details. We walked into Elizabeth's office where personal items were strewn across her desk....random keys, an opened pack of Marlboro cigarettes, etc. Real classy type of situation going on here at this dealership. Elizabeth went to retreive her sales manager's numbers on the vehicle; she came back and provided their price, which was substantially higher than a quote I received from Gerald in Naperville. When this was raised, Elizabeth's tone and attitude became argumentative, condescending, and dismissive when I provided her with the details from Gerald. She began nitpicking apart my quote from Gerald explaining that the lease price would actually be much higher, and explained that I would be paying for applicable options on the vehicle. I'm not interested in options, I'm interested in a Crosstrek Base which has a net cap cost of $25,346. She wasnt interested in hearing this either. My Dad asked a simple question about the financing rate on the lease, and Elizabeth's reaction was so ridiculous, unnecessary, and over the top....I told my father that we were done talking here, and we walked out. She blurted out to my father, "well I don't know the rate.....0.0000000 something", and used the tone of "why the hell are you asking me that question?". We're asking the question because we are looking to lease a vehicle, you invalid! Elizabeth ran behind us as we left, begging us to let her see if there was something she could do about the lease price. My father was more graceful as I was and actually continued to interact with her on our way out. The lease price isn't the problem. Elizabeth's entire being, including her disappointing, egregious attitude is to blame. I doubt that anything can be done to fix this problem, except fire her. I doubt that'll happen though. Because we all know car salesmen are scum of the Earth who project their extreme personal unhappiness onto anyone they can. These losers lost out on a sale of a vehicle today. Don't buy a vehicle from this place, they don't give a crap about you as a customer. They don't even honor the $50 Visa gift card for test driving a vehicle. read more

My rear seat belt wouldn't pull out or retract. Car is out of warranty. My service rep, Donna, had a technician look at it before writing up a report ticket. She saved me 90 bucks ! The service department "repaired vehicle" at 9k miles, issues reoccurred within the first few hundred miles, and was reported to another licensed Subaru Dealership with proper documentation. Issues progressively got worse to the point where the car had to be dropped off again at 14k miles. When I received the car back from Hawk it had a burning clutch smell as well as signs of recent abuse while in their possession. The manager was not present at the time and SoA was unable to assist while having a 2-month long communication issue directly with their own dealer in which they determined the manager as being unresponsive. The car was undrivable after picking it up from the dealership and they're offloading the cost of service entirely on me ($3k dollars) despite the car being damaged further while in "service". The dealership does not stand behind their repairs/quality as they're expecting me to pay $3k out of my pocket for a car barely driven with less than 15k miles and still under warranty. This issue needs to be made right and until then review will stand. read more

Just purchased my 1st Subaru after looking for a year! We tried two other dealers and got nothing but BS. Adding on " dealer warranties" telling us the " Costco discount is going to expire" among other lies. Andres at Hawk was kind and not pushy. He was very pleasant and straightforward to work with. Made sure we had what we needed, was upfront with the price and didn't push any extra accessories we didn't need onto us. Very bad customer service. A so-called Certified Internet Consultant contacted me by e-mail after I expressed interest in purchasing a Subaru from a third-party site. I communicated with her and we schedule a phone call to discuss more details (as she indicated that she would like to discuss if I want more information). She did not call me as scheduled. I called her and was told she had not arrived at the office yet. I requested to ask her call me back when she was in the office. Well, she did not call me until seven hours after our scheduled time! I then called the manager to report this. The manager was defending and asked why I wanted to talk to her. I said that I wanted to buy a car and wanted to know more information. He told me that the Internet Consultant I mentioned was only a receptionist and every sale should go by him. Well, why the Internet Consultant wanted to talk with me as indicated in her e-mail? On the other hand, if she could not keep the appointment, should she notify me before that? Or send me an e-mail as soon as she got back to her office? Overall, this process really made me doubt their customer service. I decided not to purchase any vehicle from this dealer. Never! read more

After today October 6, 2022 with the vehicle will start accumulating a storage fees so just wanted to let you know Mr. Johnson have a good afternoon This is the response from this dealership. My outback had a oil leak so I brought it in to be fixed. So the service department said they would look into the problem but it will cost $250 to be diagnosed, but it will go towards repairs which I thought was fair. Let me say again i brought it in stating the car is leaking oil and after being diagnosed I was told it is leaking oil. I was told after the inspection 5 seals need to be repaired which will be over 4000 dollars as well as other services will be over 6000 dollars so if I didn't have the service done I will lose my diagnosis fee. So I said obviously there is more to this than seals leaking so why are they leaking with with no answers. I say if I replace the seals will you stand behind your repair if they start leaking and they couldn't make this promise. So I call Subaru and we talked about how to fix the problem in which I didn't agree with Subarus plan which was we will charge three thousand to fix the vehicle but keep in mind with the actual problem not being fixed on why the five seals leaking at once. Obviously I wasn't going to have it "fixed" . My car was at the dealership for three weeks waiting on a remedy from Subaru. So we go on a planned vacation and this is the text I get. I told the service department I have over a two hour drive from my house to the dealership so just grabbing the car won't be easy. I go and pick up the car and say I want to speak to the service manager about the policy on storage fees. So the young punk that i was dealing with said he would get him and came back and said he wasn't there all while his light was on in the office and also a person that runs a department doesn't say he is leaving. So it was a obvious lie. So while there I pointed to his office saying he is obviously there and in return the punk service worker threatened me stating I put my hand in his face which is total bs. The punk said " I'm warning you" if I point in his face which didn't happen. He threatened me three times just hoping I would fall for his threats with a reaction. To think I would go into this place and want a physical altercation over a car is nonsense. I will end by saying I have never dealt with a business that has acted in this way. I will suggest move on and find another dealership. In my opinion these people are the epitome of a sleazy car dealership. I believe Subaru is a great car but stay as far away as you can from Hawk Subaru. read more

On Monday, October 22, 2018, my wife and I went to Hawk Subaru, located at 2200 West Jefferson St. in Joliet, IL, with the intent to purchase a 2019 Subaru Forester. I had been researching the vehicle and had previously conducted a test-drive. My wife had not seen or driven the 2019 Model and wished to test-drive it. We arrived at the Dealership around 10:30 am and were promptly greeted by Michael Widuch, a Sales Consultant and the Sales Manager, Dave Casey. They were informed that we wish to test-drive a particular Forester, which I had previously driven. Within a few minutes, they had the vehicle upfront, with Dealer plates on it. My wife and I took the Forester for a half hour ride. The vehicle sold itself to my wife. Upon returning to the Dealership, we were promptly met by Michael and Dave. We provided Michael, with the vehicle information, along with additional accessories, we wished to purchase. After gathering the vehicle information, Michael contacted the Parts Department to obtain pricing for the additional accessories and installation cost. Dave then rejoined us for the pricing negotiations. We were able to easily negotiate an out-the-door price for the new vehicle, along with our trade-in, which we felt was very favorable towards us. The process of purchasing the vehicle went very smoothly and we were very satisfied. Later in the day, I returned with my check and closed the deal. Michael spent well over 90 minutes going over the vehicle, with me. Additionally, he advised me to return in a few weeks, so he could spend additional time with me. Michael signed me up to the MySubaru app. Michael provided me with his personal cell phone number and advised me to contact him at any time, if I had any questions. Since leaving the Dealership, I have been contacted by the Parts Department, advising that the accessories have been ordered and I would be notified when they are in. They will provide me with a Loaner, due to the accessories taking a few hours to install. Michael also contacted me, advising that the accessories have been ordered and I should be receiving a call from the Parts Department. I advised him that I had just gotten off the phone with them. I have been shopping for a new car for a few weeks now. I have driven quite a few miles to check out different vehicles and different dealerships. Was on my way to purchase a Mazda CX-5 At Hawk Mazda. I decided I wanted to check out the Subaru Crosstrek. Well I actually enjoyed it and was thinking about purchasing it instead of the CX-5. Was getting ready to walk out the door to go grab a bite to eat and think about it. When the manager Chris and my salesman Dave told me I could get into a Subaru Outback for less than the price of the Crosstrek. So I told them show me the numbers and let me take it for a test drive and we'll Talk. Needless to say the car is an absolute dream to drive. I had never driven a Subaru Outback before and it was like going from a compact car to a luxury SUV. So we drove a couple different Trim levels and we decided to go with a higher trim level and out the door with a warranty that will last 100,000 miles and seven years, I was able to purchase it for less than the CX-5 would have cost me. Chris T. And Dave were very patient and worked very hard to earn my business. I would recommend that you stop in there if you're looking for an SUV that is the safest in the industry. I brought my 2019 Forrester in for service due to the TPMS letting me know that my tire was low. And it was. Filled with air and it went off again so l brought it in since I thought maybe it was under warranty. They told me that there was a nail in the sidewall and needs to be replaced, no warranty. Since I was already there, I told them to go ahead and replace. 5 minutes later they come out and told me that the TPMS (tire pressure management system) was cracked and needed to be replaced for $90. Asked them how it could have been cracked and not working if that is how I knew I had a low tire. Instead of admitting that they broke it when removing tire, they said that it happens sometimes and would still give reading. Since they already had me for the tire I told them to just fix it. Happened to stop by a shop that I previously had gone to and asked if there was a crack in the TPMS would I get a reading and he told me no and that it had to be cracked when removing tire. This company only does tires and would know more than a shop that sometimes does tires. If I knew that it wasn't under warranty, I should have brought to Empire tire in the first place. Called customer service when I got home and they aid that they would have the service manager call me to discuss. Waited 1 week with no call. Sent email to customer service and she apologized and said that she would give him the message. She also gave me his number. After 4 calls and leaving messages, no return call. Don't know how they stay in business with such horrible service. read more

We went to Hawk Subaru with the intent to buy a new Ascent. They had a blue one just like we wanted. The salesperson assigned a person to ride with us on the test drive. That person somehow didn't know anything about the Ascent. In fact we somehow got her confused where we were while test driving the car. We got back to the dealership where some other guy then took over to make the sale. They treated us with little respect, acted like they were doing us a favor by giving us "straight forward pricing" showing us a binder with the price. All BS. The trade in value they gave us was fair, but the new purchase price was higher than what you can find online if you're willing to drive for the deal. We walked out - annoyed. We then drove to Buick and then to Toyota. Fell in love with the 2019 highlander. Found what we wanted and used MSRP as price guidance on Truecar.com. Elgin Toyota came in with the best written deal and was worth the 1 hour drive. Awesome sales experience from start to finish. Nothing to do but agree on trade in value! Had the experience at Hawk Subaru been more pleasant- I think we would have purchased the Ascent. Hawk Subaru has a fancy new building but has a old clunky sales style. I purchase 2018 Subaru Outback from Gerald Subaru of Naperville after 10 months rust showed inside the trunk. took it to the Gerald I have hard time with them to take care of it I've been told the problem is between you and Subaru maker. I took it to Hawk Subaru service department Calvin came out took a look at the rust on the trunk took pictures said in two days or so I will get back to you indeed he did email me telling me we talked with Subaru and they will take care of the issue for you with no cost or money out of your pocket and the warranty still running. Our sales guy Mike was great, pressure free. We decided to go for it on a vehicle, then we meet Rocco. Horrible. Pressured us to go over our budget, was not fair on pricing, refused to negotiate anything and did not take us seriously as buyers. He even admitted that he didn't look at our trade in when he made us an "offer" and completely low balled us. We walked. A recent crash that totaled our 2018 Outback brought us back to Hawk Subaru a little sooner than we expected. We replaced our 2018 with an almost identical 2019, except now we have navigation and a sunroof. The Outbacks many safety features saved us from serious injury. I have a lot of lumps bumps and bruises but not broken bones or worse. The remarkable thing is NO neck whiplash! The headrest safety feature which is whiplash protection feature is EVERYTHING it says it is and more. I can't say how much I appreciate not dealing with neck pain! That plus all the airbags this vehicle has and lane departure and eyesight protection features is why we came back for our 3rd Outback. Cole our salesman was glad to see us again but sorry it was so soon. Thank you Subaru for protecting us now and in the future. read more

I recently bought a brand new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek from this location, (only because the first place I went to was out) and when my husband and I were leaving the salesmen handed us two set of keys and one the fobs didn't work. The salesmen said that whomever had the car that went with those keys probably had our key....so that he would have a new one made. I came in the next day to drop off my trade and asked about the keys and the person at the desk said they would call me when my key was done. I bought my car exactly two weeks ago. The salesmen called yesterday and said I could come in today and pick up my new key at 10am. I was already mad about the inconvenience of bundling up my 2 year old to waste my time and gas going to get a key that I should have had from the beginning. I drive all the way to the dealer for them to tell me they have no idea what I'm talking about and that I probably needed to go to service...which apparently is at a different location!!! So after driving around looking for the mazda dealership (who they are apparently sharing a garage with right now) I go in only to have someone tell me that they just got a work order for it YESTERDAY and that they haven't even started to make it yet!! And that they had a fob they could try but it probably wouldn't work!!!!! SERIOUSLY???!! Your welcome for your commission & IF/WHEN I get my new keys I'll be sure to take my business to someone who knows how to do their job! read more

Not a good experience at all--I will not go back. I bought a used Outback from them a few weeks ago, and the sunroof stopped functioning properly within a few hours of driving it. I called the dealership, and they told me "no problem, just bring it back and we'll get it taken care of". Well I brought it back, they diagnosed the issue, and now that it is apparently a more expensive undertaking than they anticipated, they are shedding any responsibility of this repair. Update as of 9/10/16--despite repeated attempts to contact them per the below reply, they have yet to respond. This only serves to drive even greater frustration, and exacerbates my issue with this dealership. The car was there for a recall, but in addition they identified a situation caused by another shop. They not only fixed it properly, but provided detailed documentation including photos so that we could pursue proper recourse. All for no charge! If you want a good customer service or a fair deal, look for some other dealer. Watch for the price they quote and the other charges they smartly squeeze in, and check the numbers at every step. I paid my price by trusting their word and not checking the charges they sneaked in in the documents in the last step. I realized the mistake next day when I was reviewing the sale papers. When I asked them to explain the charges, it took multiple phone calls and two separate trips to get a face time with the managers. The finance manager was nice to talk to but was prejudiced and had little patience to listen to my points (customer is of little value to them once the sale is done). The floor manager's demeanor dramatically changed from being polite on the first day to rude, he could not make an eye contact with me. I was never allowed to talk to the original sales rep who was initially supporting my story, nor was I shown the papers they had shown me during negotiations. Person A told me that they were shredded, person B told me they were sent to the bank. I vowed never to set foot in this dreadful place again. Bottom line, check their word against what they put in the documents and don't expect any cooperation from them once the sale is done. read more

This is one dealership I would drive by. I was looking at a used Subaru for 11800.00 I took it for a test drive ,the visor keep falling down. The salesman said I could put Velcro on it to hold it in place ,almost 11000.00 and I'm supposed to put Velcro on the head liner to hold up the visor ,.. we went into his office and waited for the manager to talk about the price. I was informed that the price listed on the internet was not the right price , because they had to fix some items on the vehicle. Now the price became 13900.00. The would not honor the original price, they messed up ,but I was charged for it !,,,. The manager said that's the way it is. He wanted to know if I had a trade in, i said yes and showed him the autotrader trade in valuation on the vehicle. The vehicle is in very good condition, he offered the fair price ,so I told him, then I want the fair price for his vehicle ,shown on autotrader . Needless to say he said it doesn't work that way. And walked out of the office. When he came back he had worked up another price. 10000.00 and my vehicle,which means I would have paid at least over 14000.00 for the used vehicle.. when he left ,I asked my salesman why he didn't step up and say this whole process was wrong. If this is how they sell cars there ,I don't want anything to do with them. Buyer beware. read more

And in fact, as we drove away with our new car we had to laugh because NO ONE actually tried to sell us a car. They simply allowed us to test drive and answered all of our many questions.
