The inside of Good Day Donut

A donut is not just a donut. In other words, not every place makes quality tasting donuts. If they did, then I'd always go to Walmart to buy their cheap donuts. Fact is that those donuts from grocery stores do not all make delicious donuts. Good Day Donut (cool name by the way) made a tasty version of one of my favorite donuts. I bought me a Custard filled Chocolate donut from this Mom & Pop shop. They had plenty of other classic donuts to choose from. Did not notice any of those gourmet extra fancy donuts here. My Custard filled Chocolate donut was spot on yummy! Perfect ratio of custard to donut. I hate it when there is not enough custard! The woman who assisted me was nice, and she wore a facemask. I believe she wore gloves also. The price was right. I do not like being overcharged. So, I'd be a regular at Good Day Donut if I lived in the area.

My nephew and I went for a jog and we stopped by this donut shop for a treat. The owner and his wife are very sweet and kind. My nephew loved the chocolate glazed donut with sprinkles. He didn't let one sprinkle go to waste. I however enjoyed the donut holes and regular glazed. It's super moist, fluffy and not too sweet. Its like biting into a fluffy airy cloud. I will def be back to order several dozens of purple donuts for my sister's wedding. These donut will go perfectly on the donut wall. Thanks Brem!

    Apple Fritter - $1.55 (09/04/19). #PanoramaCity #Donuts

(Snacked 09/04/19 WE @ 3:00pm): It was a good day at this donut shop! I was killing time waiting for a friend to get home when I came across Good Day Donut in her neighborhood. In her exact words, "Go get an apple fritter and tell me how good it tastes"... so I did! How good of a day was this to be!? PURCHASE THE "APPLE FRITTER IS TAKING OVER THE WORLD TOUR" CONTINUED... Apple Fritter ($1.55): Not that I was an apple fritter snob - eff it...yes I was! - but there was a certain way I liked mine. 1st, the price was comparable if not cheaper these days. 2nd, it was round, medium-large, medium thickness with a fluffy softness, and not exactly the size of my face (an ode to the great Goldstar Donuts in Van Nuys). 3rd, there were a ton of apple bits. 4th, the overall light-dark brown color was nice but lacked the many burnt ends I liked, and the medium-high glaze had a very good cracking effect. There were some crunchy odd crannies, corners, and nooks which I liked to break off into small little morsels. 5th, it was somewhat fresh based on its temperature but had no hints of tiny oil pockets that leaked into your mouth and dripped down your throat. Overall, it had exceptionally good value and happy they still had some this time of day - 4.5 STARS https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=-Odz199KC6rGRq4eBh6_Jw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! Ice Blended Taro Smoothie w/Boba ($4.00): This 16 fl. oz. drink with a small dollop of creamy whipped cream hit the spot along with my apple fritter! The taro flavor was slightly sweet, a touch of grainy texture and medium consistency, and the usual grey-purple color. The boba itself was overly soft, seemed to actually come apart, had a surprisingly nice pie-crust consistency, but wished there was more of these balls in my drink. I'd try this again but in a different flavor since they had many to choose from https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=J4wMXp-B8-Dyr9T7K3lKIw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. SERVICE Immediately greeted by a lone friendly young Cambodian woman, I needed a moment as I seeked out the fritter which she immediately gave me the largest one available, and then took a few minutes to craft my boba drink. With some minor chit-chat and reciprocated smiles, I grabbed an empty table and devoured my apple fritter before I drove off with boba drink in hand. All was chill here! PARKING (FREE) Located in a small strip mall that housed several businesses (Angry Chickz seemed to be the newest tenant), there was sufficient shared parking. Otherwise, I noticed plenty of free street parking along the main drags of Sepulveda and Roscoe Blvds. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A no-frills donut shop with a simple storefront, this tight layout was filled with only four tables (two pushed together) https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=uniXt7E_gwNcztDDSsU-Gg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw, a short display case and small order counter https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=uoTMIxfKUVOj375t_ExiUA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw, an easily visible price menu up on the wall behind the counter https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=k2RrxihD3dDHLsUHeuVrCg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw, a refrigerated cooler stocked with various bottled and canned drinks https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=QLdRohhgXMU8caegjAs49Q&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw, a couple framed pictures of Angkor Wat hung on the walls https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=rbkUiSLgMrge6b-ZwABNHg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw, and surprisingly no Lotto and Scratchers display. Plenty of natural lighting came through the large glass door and wall windows while soul-sucking electric fluorescent ceiling lights covered the rest. There was one turned-off TV and no background music. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Good Day Donut made a good day even better and would definitely head in their direction again. My apple fritter was lovely, my boba drink as different as it was I still enjoyed it, the prices were comparable if not cheaper, and the service was wonderful. However, they were straightforward with their donuts so nothing creative or decorative, and they weren't open 24-hours. But, I was happy to support a small business. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $6.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice ($0.50 service charge)...AMEX! 5.0 STARS

First review of 2017 and you know it had to be about donuts :) . Simple donut shop with a decent selection of donuts, about 15 different ones. They also have a few pastries, coffee, milk, and tea. My favorite way to judge a donut shop is by getting the basics. So I got the chocolate bar and glazed twisted. Both were the perfect donut. Nothing artisanal here, just simple classic donuts.

    Bacon and cheese only smh

Ordered a croissant bacon egg and cheese and they did not put egg and when I called they don't pick up unless you call like four times will not be wasting my money here again ....

Being a huge matcha fan, I was all set to order one, but then I spotted a unique drink on the menu called "Fluffy Hojicha." I got curious and asked a staff member what hijocha was. They told me it has a distinct roasted flavor, which really intrigued me. Not knowing what to expect from a roasted tea, I decided to give it a try. The wait for my sister's drink, along with a crème brûlée donut and a strawberry donut, was just a quick 3-5 minutes. The first sip of the Hojicha caught me off guard; it wasn't my favorite right away. But with each sip, I started to appreciate and eventually really enjoy the unique roasted flavor of the tea. The crème brûlée donut was a lovely addition - just the right amount of sweetness without being too much. ELNO is located in a building with other small vendors, and there's a seating area that fits only two to three people. I found parking easily since I went on a weekday around 4 PM. My sister mentioned that on weekends, parking is a real hassle. It's definitely worth stopping by if you're in the neighborhood.

I see Churros.. and I buy one or a few! I'm usually getting Churros from a stand at a festival.. but when I saw the store, I had to go inside : ) Service was a little slow, not many people were waiting. Maybe they make items to order. My items were hot. Location is at a strip mall, lots of parking. I got the Cinnamon Sugar Churro with sauces to go. I would have wanted to stay, have a coffee and play a game or two, but I had to get home so I placed my order to go. The place looked so fun, a place to hang out for all different ages. I saw vintage toys and items for sale; the place looked like a wonderful place for a collector to have a great time adding to his or her collection. The place has cool vibes. Next time I'm in town, I plane to enjoy my Churros inside. Cheers!~

The prices are not commensurate to the type of strip mall and overall valley location that the spot is in. Also, the churros took 10 minutes yet somehow tasted stale and lacking cinnamon. This place might be for those that like to make their life hard...those that expect a treat to have drawbacks...those who enjoy paying more for less. Admittedly, good churros in the valley are hard to come by. Churro Man sucks, and Junior's Churros switched over to catering because they were the best on the streets. Come here if you don't believe me, but I promise you won't be back.

I came when it was not busy and got my drink in under two minutes. However, the person sitting next to me (with the cutest doggie! They're dog friendly, I think ) waited longer than 10 minutes for her drink. However, this was during a rush and when it was probably the busiest in the morning (?) AMBIANCE AND ENVIRONMENT: The music volume was pretty good. It was low level when the place got busy due to people chatting, machines, ice scooping etc., but when it wasn't so busy, the level was about medium due to the atmosphere being more quiet. The vibes were Mumford and sons, Oasis, Of Monsters and Men, the Head and the Heart, and some classical sprinkled here and there. It is smaller than a chain, but cozy with quite a few seats and table options. I think they did a great job at making the best of the space. The space also encourages community as half of the seating options are shared/shareable. All within an arms reach, which in my personal opinion, is plenty of space. Because of this, it encourages you to acknowledge your fellow human being sitting across, or beside you. The environment was clean, bright, and comfortable. The environment feedback I woukd give is perhaps a stronger sun shade in the windows that the bar and stools face. I first sat here but within minutes decide to move because the heat was a bit too much for me. Again! A personal preference. Coffee shops can also naturally get warm due to the energy being used for the machines and refrigerators, so something to consider. The air-conditioning kicked in a little later which helped make it more comfortable. Another thing I noticed is the outlet near the corner table and lounge chairs has a an outlet extender plugged into the wall outlet, but the wall outlet is extremely loose with no faceplate. This can cause electric shock, wiring damage and possible fires. I know from personal experience. It's a real easy and cheap fix that I highlyyy recommend they do ASAP. Just trying to be helpful because I really, really like this spot. FOOD AND DRINKS: I ordered a Hibiscus Berry Blend, as is, iced. It was $5.00 even. It is served in a14 Oz. cup. With ice, it's probably about 12-13 Oz. of drink you're getting. I think it was worth it. The flavor was equal and very nice. Not too fruity, not too watery. It wasn't sweet, due to me not asking for any additional sweetener. As I sat and worked, I heard a lot of other orders and some were very creative. So they do have all those fun drinks people love to indulge in occasionally. They also have classic drip coffee and loose leaf tea. THE REASON WHY I TRIED INICIO: The biggest thing I noticed, being an activist myself involved in many efforts for social justice through my work and personal life, was their mission to erase modern day slavery. Human trafficking is a horrible thing that unfortunately is haooening right before out very eyes. They donate a portion of all food, drink, and catering sales to Justice 180. That is honestly, the reason why I came. I would love to partner with them and invite them to come cater at my center. I plan to spread the word about this place and continue to support them.
