Back for second review. Hadn't been in months. Was so refreshing to walk into such a welcoming place. They really do their best to please. Had an egg, ham and cheese sandwich and latte for breakfast. Ask for their green salsa on the side (if you like it tangy). They'll customize any juice for you. Prices are flat out reasonable, which reflects the neighborhood in general. This was probably the worst ice cream shop I've ever gone to. They are very unprofessional and rude. There was a mistake made in my order so I asked if they can kindly just fix the simple mistake , the lady working there refused with a lot of attitude and said no because I didn't explain myself right so then I became a little bit upset and asked for a refund she refused AGAIN. Her manager or whatever he was refused as well to either fix the mistake or give me a refund. After that he said he'll fix the mistake on my order but I'll have to pay for half of what the item cost which was crazy to me because I literally paid full price already!! Like what?? That doesn't even make sense. Regardless if I didn't explain myself right when the order was made there was no reason for them to both be rude and very hostile. I gave up and just left very upset/ unsatisfied.. I'll never return here or dare recommend this place to anyone. I don't even want to give this place a 1 star rating! They definitely deserve 0 stars for how this situation was handled. read more

The employees ignored us and started talking to each other then another couple came in and one of the employees started helping right away !! Hearing there was an ice cream location across the street made me excited not to have to make the drive to China Town for ice cream rolls. Kinda disappointed that the coworkers didn't know how to roll the ice cream and tried covering up the mess with whipped cream. What a delicious treat! This was our first visit to D'Fruta La Vida and it certainly won't be our last. We had a wonderful fruit smoothie made with fresh chunks of papaya and banana and we checked out the wonderful homemade ice cream as well. I tried the chocolate (delicious) plus a few of the more unique flavors including cucumber (incredibly refreshing) and a fruit flavor that I had never heard of! (also delicious). The long freezer case, which runs the length of the café, allows you to view the many options while you are deciding what to order. It was tempting to take home some of the homemade frozen fruit bars... The café is a brightly lit, clean and happy space and everyone was incredibly nice and inviting. Next time we will try some of the other offerings including the Cuban sandwiches and empanadas. There is also sidewalk seating - perfect for summer. read more

This place be poppin'. Like they have the best strawberry water popsicles and their cheese pies are gucci. Like bruh this is the place to go to if you want the good stuff but if you wanna be a basic white girl then go to Starbucks. Like if you wanna be in with the cool crowd then this is the place.
