I will preface this by saying I'm no coffee/tea/cafe connoisseur, but I loved the blue matcha latte here. Like love love love, would come back just to have this drink. I admit I am partial to a brightly colored food item, but the flavor was sweet and yummy in a way that was unique. Breakfast and lunch are when it's open, and it gets most of its business from Latinos. It has a bit of a Mexican flair in the menu items, but there's also typical coffee shop stuff. The coffee menu is pretty basic and small, so it's not like these places with these fancy drinks and that. Best thing here is the Peppermint Latte. It's about $4 for a medium. They can make this with non dairy milks such as oat. Bagels are among the good items. It's about $3 for one with a spread such as jelly. Also has sandwiches at lunch that look good. As we continued on our journey across Chicagoland to try all the cafes, my husband found this spot in Albany Park. Street parking was very easy to find. We only went for coffee, but I saw right away that they have a very yummy looking full menu with crepes! I will have to go back to try those. I was initially curious to try their beautiful blue matcha and green matcha drinks. When I checked into the Yelp app, I was pleasantly surprised with a 20% off espresso/coffee drink offer. After talking with the waiter, he explained that a lot of the signature drinks made with flavored syrups, but the horchata latte and dulce de leche latte are made with their homemade horchata and dulce de leche - sold! My husband ordered the horchata latte, and I got the dulce de leche. Despite the name, it is not overly sweet, but it is delicious! Went back to treat myself to a horchata latte and was asked if I wanted whole milk. This surprised me since when I asked previously if the horchata latte was espresso in horchata or a horchata syrup or flavoring, I was told definitively it was horchata, and they made their horchata in-house. I asked the person at the counter "isn't the horchata latte just horchata and espresso?" and he said it was a regular latte with horchata flavor. I asked if it was a syrup and he said "basically." I try to avoid syrups and straight up processed sugar (unless I'm indulging in some dessert) so opted for a plain soy latte. Not the treat I had envisioned. Overall it's confusing, both because I got 2 very different answers about what the drink was, and because to me it makes no sense that a horchata latte would be anything but a latte with horchata as the "milk." I was so pleasantly surprised at the sophistication of the food at this hidden gem in our neighborhood. I had not thought crepes could e made in so many ways. Walking in to grab my carry-out order on Sunday, I witnessed a packed restaurant with wonderful smells and a family standing outside in hopes of gaining a seating. As I approached the counter to grab my food which was packed and ready to go, one important question by an associate. "I can't give you this food until you show me insulated bag." It was very tasty. My brunch crew shared the following: Chilaquiles verdes La Sabrosa crepes - Infused mixed berry cream cheese, candied orange zest topped with orange vanilla Corlis. Torta Ahogada - Braised carnitas, panela cheese, pickled red onions, cabbage salad, roasted tomato soup on the side. Serve on a telera bread. We love Dulce De Leche and often dine in or do take out. The staff is very kind and the food and coffee are quite good! I've liked everything I've tried. Eating in is very comfortable and the cafe has a nice ambiance. There are two outside tables that have swings for seats, which can be a fun experience. (Hopefully they will add a few more breakfast/lunch options as we come so frequently!)
