It was my first time trying Da Claudio, and it was very pleasant! The restaurant is much larger inside than I thought. The servers were all nice and attentive as well. For two of us, we shared the arugula salad, and there was also four pieces of bread (wish they came warm). I ordered a special as my entree (butternut squash risotto), and it was nice, but it came with some kind of soft melted cheese on top which I didn't like, so I just scraped it off. I appreciated that they offered salt, pepper, and shredded cheese for our entrees. We ended up being too full for dessert, so we did not order anything and just ended up sitting and chatting for a while, so I appreciate that they never made us feel pressured to hurry up and leave. read more

Da Claudio is a welcoming Italian restaurant. What I really liked that the owner was there and greeted us. It has a neighborhood feel even for being downtown. The lasagne offered very tender noodles and tasted like it was just made. It had Waygu beef but I am not sure I could tell the difference. Server staff were attentive and there were some fun Italian wines with the meal. Bread comes with olive oil. This place just had a great vibe. read more

Great neighborhood Italian spot. Perfect for hosting larger / more important events. Place is upscale, wide and spacious with attentive service and large tables for bigger groups. Staff was helpful and always kept waters refilled. I got the lasagna which had generous portions of meat and was very tasty. I've been coming here for a decade. The menu hasn't really changed but it has stayed consistently good. Solid Italian but definitely not a red sauce place. They have a huge dining room and are very accommodating of walk-ins and large groups. In recent years I've taken to going in a sitting at the bar for their happy hour. I'll order a plate of the absolutely most delicious fried baby artichokes I've ever had and a drink and just enjoy the sensory experience of the nice marble bar-top and hand crafted cocktails. The last time we went the bartender even branded the orange peel in my partner's old fashioned with the bar's logo. It was such a cool touch. read more

It was after 10pm on Saturday night and my friends and I were in the mood for Italian. We called Da Claudio to see if they could accommodate our party of 3 and were told to come on in... Ten minutes later, we arrived and were seated quickly. Flor was our server and she took good care of us. We started with an order of Fritto Misto and and a Caesar Salad to share, along with a few glasses of wine. For our entrees, I went with the Black Linguine (Squid ink pasta, head-on prawns, spicy tomato sauce) and it was perfection. My friends both had the Garganelli (wagyu bolognese, parmigiano) and were also very pleased. We finished the meal with an order of chocolate gelato to share, which was the perfect sweet ending to our meal, and very timely as we got it in just as the kitchen was closing! According to their website, Da Claudio sources fresh ingredients local producers and sustainable seafood as well... and it's also worth noting that we found the prices reasonable and portions large. Da Claudio has been around for quite some time. Surviving a harsh economy and downtown reparation's. However, it has the charm of a classic movie and is eclectic as a romantic date. The service is on par and they have a happy hour! The selection of cocktails during this time is array of perfectly curated taste. The food let's get to that. This restaurant was quiet at 9 PM. Perhaps the dinner crowd starts earlier. There were maybe four other tables with people when we arrived so we were seated quickly. Bread with olive oil was provided quickly and a server was by our table to offer drinks. Definitely recommend adding some salt from their grinder to the evoo to elevate the flavor. This is a restaurant I tried on my first time visiting New York. It was definitely fine dining. We came here on a stormy night. For my appetizer I had the frito misto. It was very good. I'm used to regular calamari so this threw me for a bit of a loop. For my entree I had the veal pasta. This was also very good. The ground veal was very tasty and the pasta was made in house.
