The lunch prices are very reasonable, and unlike many places, the portions are still generous -- you definitely don't feel like you're getting a "smaller" deal. They also offer a great weekly wine option at a good price, which makes the whole experience even better. Service stood out: Jimmy was an amazing server, attentive and friendly, and Sergey as a busboy was just as great -- both made us feel genuinely taken care of. One detail I really appreciated (and rarely see in the city): they thoughtfully change plates and utensils between courses, and even bring extra empty plates if you're sharing food. It shows real attention to comfort and hospitality. The space has a nice, modern urban style -- relaxed but still polished. It works well for everyone: families, couples, or even a casual meet-up. Some of the happy hour dishes are smaller than the regular menu, e.g. 2 meatballs instead of 3, so it's not a fabulous value, but 2 meatballs and a plate of spaghetti were enough for dinner! The spaghetti was cooked perfectly. We especially liked that the salmon was removed from the skewers. I liked the herbs and sauce - the way it was plated. It tasted great too. The hummus is served in a small bowl with a large piece of warm flat bread. We had another spectacular brunch here! Get this, freshly grated truffles on my eggs. I was in heaven! The waiter was so knowledgeable about the ingredients and was able to make a switch for us on one thing. We visited this beautiful, open Mediterranean restaurant as a large group for lunch prix-fixe. There are two options to choose from. The atmosphere was lovely and the space felt bright and welcoming. Our waiter was extremely attentive and handled our sense of humor very well, which we really appreciated. The majority of us started with the bread and dips, which were incredibly fresh and flavorful--definitely a highlight. It's a very generous portion. I ordered the Tuna Nicoise Salad, which was a little salty but good. There were quite a few upcharges so definitely check the menu. The main reason I booked this place was because of the beautiful ambience - the place has a nice open floor plan and is decorated with a lot of plants, giving a garden type of feel. Like the other reviewers, I thought the food was amazing as well. The dishes we ordered were the squid ink pasta (my favorite), steak frites, octopus and tuna crudo. Loved all of them but the tuna crudo which didn't seem seasoned at all and was rather bland. Also got the tiramisu which I highly recommend. The drinks were decent, and we started with the 5 Spread appetizer - loved the bread that came with it, and enjoyed a few of the dips. For my entree I had the Truffle Risotto, which was good but was a tad underwhelming- it really needed more salt! My friend's Truffle Fusilli was on the same level - just needed more flavor. For dessert we had the Chocolate Ganache and Tiramisu - both were, again, decent, but portions and flavor for the price just weren't quite there. The service was great; they never let our water glasses get more than half empty. My friends had the polenta which they liked. My friend and I came here for an early dinner. As she's not much of a drinker , I came a tad earlier to avail of their happy hour at the gorgeous bar . Service by the hostess , barman were all friendly and attentive . The manager/ owner stopped by a few times to ask about our experience ( which I appreciate ). Longevity of these restaurants is due to many factors, one of which is customer service . The restaurant is new , well decorated and has a vibrant atmosphere surrounded by plants, etc . Marsanne has been our neighbor cocktail bar but that ended tonight. The bartender over charged us $50 so we requested a credit on the credit card but he refused to give us a receipt. He involved a manager and the manager said he was the owner. This guy was so rude to us and refused to give us a credit receipt until I insisted he call the credit card company. He got in my face and said I should not act like I was. It was just so rude it's hard to explain. He finally produced a credit receipt. That's the last time we will go there. Love this relatively new, under the radar restaurant in Chelsea. Very elegant ambiance, excellent service, and delicious menu selection. Some restaurants you'll scour the menu and find it difficult to pick your winners, but at Marsanne it was obvious as they have a lot of crowd pleasing items, my favorites were the foie gras, branzinio and chicken duo. Since I was early meeting up with my friend I decided to sit at the bar and enjoy a glass of wine of a beautiful sunny day. This is a wonderful gem of a restaurant in Chelsea, steps from the E train and (on a nice day) a very manageable walk from Penn Station. The food is delicious, the service is on point, and the ambiance is both upscale and chic, but not stuffy or overbearing -- it's a very friendly, comfortable spot that I will definitely return to again and again. Met a friend for lunch and we ended up spending 3 hours chatting and eating -- shout out to our waiter David, such a nice guy. The salads were fresh, perfect for a light summer lunch and the grilled chicken was flavorful and cooked perfectly. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes -- the three dips and bread (served at the table next to us) looked amazing, and the sandwiches coming out of the kitchen also looked very tempting. Beautiful restaurant ! The hosts and servers were lovely and super helpful. Went there because my friend had a blind date. We were able to get seats right next to them so my date and I could keep an eye on her. Drinks were well balanced. The octopus was very tasty although the ends were a bit too crisp and had a slightly bitter taste because of the char- I recommend eating tentacles from the ends to the base as base of it was juicy and delicious! The cheese platter was very tasty but the sides could have been better. Then needed more bread on that plate. 3 little pieces for ALL of that cheese. We asked for more but we were only given two small slices- unfortunately I didn't wanna ask for more so I just took the rest home. Also the fig was not the most fresh - they should use seasonal fruit on the platter. Something like fresh peaches would have been a better pairing. The tiramisu was light and refreshing- but if you're expecting tiramisu then you will not have your expectations met. Their play on it included a small wafer cookie in the middle but the taste was not comparable to a lady finger. It wasn't giving tiramisu but it was still a good dessert. Good enough to justify $2 a bite? That's debatable. I also enjoyed the meatballs. Very flavorful but I thought the meat could have been softer. I can't tell if it was slightly overcooked or if they overworked the meat when handling it and forming the shape but it was a solid choice. 3 meatballs and the sauce still had me wanting to scrape the plate. Overall, I would definitely come here again. I hear great things about their dip and if I come for an entree instead of just apps- then I will definitely get the steak because others got that and it looked delicious as well. read more
