I must have gone on a bad day, last Saturday afternoon. The young girl at the counter who took our order seemed like she was new, or just didn't realize that when someone orders food to eat at the restaurant, you should give the patrons some plates and eating utensils. I ordered two spam masubis, garlic chicken, and teriyaki chicken. The food was dry and gross, so we ended up throwing all of the food away. I was thinking to give it to a homeless person, but decided it wasn't worth anyone's time and possibly a stomach bug. They don't come close to L&L BBQ or the original Aloha BBQ place. Honestly quality and consistency has gone down considerably... ordered the chicken katsu and it was burnt crust and dark on the outside nothing like a beautiful dish it used resemble... Recently went here and had to come back shortly afterwards because I had to bring my family. We have missed the food from Hawaii and this completely hit the spot. Their Katsu was crunchy and delicious. The alpha steak was tender and flavorful. The pork adobo was soft and just like they make on the island. I found my place when I'm missing Hawaii to go eat at. Regular plates are average $12.95 and for the meat plates it was a little pricey at $22.00 but the kalbi was so tender and had an awesome grill taste. I went for the Kahlua Pork just like I'd had in every other state however here they do not serve cabbage or any other vegetable with their shredded pork also it was very salty... Their chicken katsu is okay but over cooked so very dried out ....their macaroni salad was super questionable you didn't know if you're going to get a bite of potato salad or macaroni salad because it was all mixed together. OMG! Who closes there kitchen early!! So we just happen to be in the area from Canutillo due to my son having a football game. We tried calling several times to place a pick up order since 7:00pm. No one ever answered and when they finally picked up they stated that they do not take orders. Ok, so we headed over as fast as we could on to get there at 7:45pm. 1st they asked if we placed an order to go for pick-up? What? They do allow it? 2nd they stated "sorry the kitchen was closed early". Well what?? It's 7:45pm, 15 minutes before closing. She said, "don't worry we will be open tomorrow". This place is very good, except that's it's never open! They were closed the majority of July, I came back on the supposed reopen date and they extended it. They close on Mondays but also are closed on Tuesdays now. Their hours are short as well on the days they are open, especially Sunday. read more
