    Japanese ramen!

The food is absolutely delicious and not once have I been disappointed by this family owned business. The owners are extremely friendly, and it is obvious they put in a lot of effort into their food. The prices are another bonus! Everything is reasonably priced. I usually order for takeout, but I have dined in a couple of times and the ambiance is very sweet and calm. Hands down my favorite small business in El Paso!

I've been coming here for many years now and with the new owners in charge of this place I feel like they have really been slacking it big time. The food I got was cold and they barely serve you any chicken. This is the last time I go there this isn't tje first or they've done this.

Won't eat here again any time soon. The bugolgi and chicken teriyaki was extremely dry and lacked flavor.

My husband is a fan of hibachi style cuisine so we looked up a spot near our home and Koze was the first to pop up! They also had good reviews so we were all for it. When we first arrived the hostess asked if we wanted to be seated at the grill (for show) or the dining room. Since my husband does like watching the cook do his thing, we opted to wait the 15-20 minutes for a grill to become available. Next time we will definitely make note to call ahead and make a reservation though! Once we were seated we looked over the menu to see our options. I will say that the service at Koze was a bit lacking. Our waitress took quite a while to come around for our drink order, main course and then at the end of the evening for us to pay our bill. I'm not sure if she was serving a lot of other tables for the night but that was just our experience. It would have been nice if she came around more so we weren't looking for her. My husbands parents got the shrimp and scallop meal to split, my husband ordered the chicken and scallops. I, however, decided to try their sushi - so I got the California roll and the BBQ salmon roll. Once the chef came around to start cooking (which took quite a while) he started the show. I will also note that there was a bit of a language barrier between us and the chef. He tried asking us questions, such as if we were celebrating a birthday, but it was very hard for us to understand what he was saying. We could also tell he was a bit new at the job because certain "tricks" he'd mess up on or had to try a couple times before he got it right. For the food, I will say that I did enjoy my sushi. Both rolls were delicious! My husband ate mostly the protein on his plate. They give a huge portion of fried rice for the main courses, it's definitely enough for two people. I believe his parents said they thought the meal was good as well. I think it came down to the service we received which kind of left a bad impression. The food was good it was just the lack of service that left me wanting more. I know there are other hibachi restaurants in El Paso. I will probably try those with my husband. I wouldn't mind coming back to Koze, I understand maybe they were just having a bad day. But I would also try other places.

We visited on a weeknight for dinner and were seated right away. The restaurant was fairly busy for it being a weeknight but the service was still great! Our waiter came out right away to get our drink order. I asked him for a recommendation for their flavored Sake and he suggested the white peach so I ordered that. It was good! Very strong. But I liked it. My husband and I each got our own order of crab Rangoon. Let me tell you, they did NOT disappoint! I'd honestly get two orders just for myself, it was so delicious. For my main dish I got the California roll. I know, I'm very basic. But honestly it is my favorite! I think we may have come on an off day for them because the rice used for the sushi rolls was a bit dry. But it wasn't unbearable. They also give free miso soup and pickled cucumbers. Very tasty! I'd definitely come back for their crab Rangoon alone! Service was great too, I'll be back again.

First off there wasn't even a warm welcome. One of the workers just said a soft hello and just stood there. Didn't even direct us where to go or let us know that we could sit anywhere. Then came up to us to hand us the menu to quickly tune around and walk away. Another person came up and asked us what we would like to drink... after 10 mins they finally brought us some water. Like what were they doing back there? Chipping away ice to put in the cups or washing the dust off the cups since it looks like no one comes here at all. Or ever to put at that!! After the water was given, we placed our order. We ordered the overly priced spicy tuna roll and the ramen with just vegetables. Spicy Tuna Roll: like seriously? You're going to serve some nasty roll on plate and call it awesome? The tuna had a sour taste to it and it was discolored like as if someone had taken a syringe tried to suck out the color of that poor tuna. The rice wrapped around it had a pinkish tint to it thinking that it wasn't freshly made. Like it was just sitting in the rice cooker for a couple of days before they used it for us since... again! No one goes there. This was not worth the $8 that they had it priced on the menu. Even places who have better sushi have their basic rolls for $4-5. Ramen with Vegetables: this was a sad sad desperate attempt to make something and call it restaurant quality ramen. This definitely tastes like the $.50 instant ramen that you get from Wal-Mart with a hard boiled egg and a couple pieces or huge nori in it. The "With vegetables" part was just some slices of scallions and a few disappoint pieces of cabbages floating around. If I knew this is what it was going to taste like, I would've just gone to Wal-Mart. This cost $5 when it probably only cost $2 to make. Sad attempt.. Service: other than the fact there was an obnoxiously long wait time with no friendliness at all, the fact that there are no soy sauce bottles on the table with the dipping dish is so strange. Do you not dip your sushi in soy sauce? Or do you just pour it all over the sushi to hide the horrendous taste? Venue: No one else was there. We were the only ones there. The music wasn't that great and the TV were so distracting when trying to eat? Are you trying convey a sushi restaurant or a sports bar? Also, get new chopsticks. Why are you trying to embellish and sell off Pho King when you already have a name for yourself? Don't cut corners and try to save money by having products that represent other places. Overall: sucked. Didn't even finish the meal since I had the fear of severe food poisoning and just left. Never going back there ever again. The sushi from Albertsons and the commissary tastes way better than what this "Japanese" sushi restaurant serves! For the price we paid for Ebi nigiri sushi $5.50 each piece (ordered 2 for $11 total) it was a total rip off! This was not served with sushi rice. There was no taste to the rice. It was just "plain rice"! It was bad!! My husband's fried rice was expensive for a small little portion with not much taste. The dragon roll that we ordered didn't even look like a dragon roll. That was just like a California maki with shrimp on it, and yet again, no sushi rice just plain white rice. There was no dipping sauce for the gyoza, which was sad, so I used unagi sauce just for taste because the gyoza didn't have much flavor. Our waitress was nice in the beginning, but never checked up on us after she gave us our food. We had to look for her and wait to ask for refills on our drinks. We asked for a container at the same time, and I had to stand up and go over to her to ask for our check because she didn't bring it or ask if we needed it. Don't think I'll ever come here again. Food quality was bad, service could be better, and prices need to change for the quality and amount of food that you are serving! We both wanted to try their food since it's hard to find Thai establishments out here in El Paso. I'm from SoCal and there were plenty of options where I lived. Flame Thai is a pretty big restaurant when you walk in. They have plenty of seating for their customers which is nice. The decor is very sparse and two out of the 3 tv screens up at the front were not working. They allowed us to pick where we wanted to sit and we chose one of the booths. Right away I noticed part of the crown molding on the wall was missing. The overall visual appeal of the restaurant could use some tlc or a whole new revamp. For the positives: our waiter was friendly and attentive. He came to check up on us a couple times throughout our meal which was nice. Their Thai tea came in pretty big glasses and tasted good! Tasted like the bottled Thai tea I used to get from the market. I did like their crab Rangoon for appetizer, it was fried perfectly and the sauce for dipping was tasty! I also ordered the red curry and requested extra curry sauce. The portion was huge and enough for two people. They also got the spice level perfectly. The negatives were the beef bowl my husband ordered. He said it was very bland and had virtually no flavor. It also looked more like a salad bowl with how much lettuce they filled it with. The biggest disappointment was their pad Thai. That is one of my favorite Thai dishes and they managed to mess it up. For some reason it tasted more like sweet and sour noodles rather than pad Thai. I did not taste any fish sauce at all in the dish. It make me think of orange chicken sauce mixed with rice noodles. Not very tasty at all and I was left disappointed. Pad Thai is one of the most common dishes you find at Thai restaurants so I'm not sure how they managed to screw it up so badly. Lastly, the price of everything was over $80. Which both my husband and I did not think was worth the quality of food we got. Very expensive for subpar dishes. Not even the crab Rangoon or red curry could make it worth the price. We most likely would not return but I'm glad the whole meal wasn't a busy. They had a couple decent dishes but the ones they messed up just couldn't justify the price paid.
