On the outside it's a little hole in the wall but once you go inside it's small, cute and very clean. The young lady that took our order was very friendly and also had lived in the Bay Area for a short time. We ordered the Korean chicken and the heart attack loco moco that comes with Brisket and pork belly. The Korean chicken came over rice with a side salad. The chicken was really good, fried with a perfect crisp and an orange sauce (great flavor and a little kick.) The loco moco was probably the best I've ever had the meats were very tender and the gravy was very flavorful. The egg was a little more cooked than I wanted but great overall. Ordered the kanak attack and a garlic chicken and fish and chips combo! These 2 plates were shated amongst 4 adults and we still had leftovers for another meal. The kanak attack was good and out of the 3 meats (kalbi,brisket and pork belly) the brisket wins!! Its like buttah! The flavor is also really good and not to heavy on the smoke. Always seen this place but never went until today. From the outside it doesn't look that nice but when you enter it's way different inside has tables and chairs for you to seat and eat. The whole place was very clean and they had a tv playing some old school jams. The lady that took our order was nice. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. Can't wait to go back and try something else. But of course I had the heart attack moco because I like trying different styles or versions of the loco moco. This place has been on our "Next Must Try Places on Oahu" list for quite some time, and my hubby and I finally had the chance to visit today and we're so glad we did! It is located by the Waipahu Festival Marketplace and parking can be a bit of a challenge, but the food here is excellent! We ordered the Kanak Attack plate. It came with pork belly, smoked brisket, kalbi, and a side salad. The brisket was da bomb! It is so tender, with the perfect smoky flavor and char, and the beef fat melts in your mouth. It's also great with chillipeppahwatah! The fat and juices of the meat soaked into the rice and made it savory and delicious. Just ono! The kalbi and pork belly were also flavorful and delicious. I really had a kanak attack after eating my food. Zzzz We also tried the Heart Attack Loco Moco. It has brisket and pork belly with gravy, topped with eggs. The gravy was good and it worked perfectly with the meats. The portions were generous, and the prices were fair for the quality and amount of food. The service was fast and friendly! They also gave us some halloween treats: pretzel snacks and candies. You could park at Waipahu Festival Marketplace and walk across the parking lot, but that's "far". There's a smaller parking lot that's attached by a driveway - that's where I parked. Service was very friendly and sweet! The young lady at the window had a wonderful smile and positive vibe! She told me that my order would take about 5 minutes! Yay! I noticed the outdoor, covered seating area, but it was a warm August afternoon... too hot for me. I took my Kanak Attack meal home to enjoy in air conditioning. However, the delicious fragrance was too much! I had to open the container and start eating while driving! Wow! The famous Brisket was EXCELLENT! The tender, smokey chunks of meat melted in my mouth! Service was amazing and staff are willing to help you narrow down your choices if stuck on what to get. A hidden gem in the heart of Waipahu. Located on the outer edge of the Waipahu Festival Center this whole in the wall is putting out some mean food. While the outside is a bit "rundown" looking, don't be fooled, the chefs are cooking up some of the best local plates on the Leeward side. I highly recommend the loco Moco, which in my opinion has been the best I've had to date. The "Heart Attack" Moco, brisket French dip, and homemade roast pork. The french dip is made with the house smoked brisket which is fall apart tender and full of flavor. The au jus equally as flavorul, just ask for a bit extra. The plate also comes with a stack of garlic french fries which compliment the sandwich perfectly, It may not feel too hefty but let me tell you it's pretty filling. The loco moco has 2 homemade patties which are seasoned perfectly and talked with their homemade gravy, same can be said for their roast pork which was equally as delicious. We've had this on our radar for a while. Today was the opportunity to go. This is located in the Waipahu Festival Market parking. It was a literal nightmare to park which left a bad taste in my mouth as I was backing into a space and a guy behind me decided to parallel park into the space I was backing into (don't text or use your phone if it's not hands free please). We ordered the kanak attack and the heart attack moco. They were basically the same plate but one with gravy. We were told we were lucky by another customer who is a regular, as the beef brisket sells out real fast. The bbq and the smoke of the meats were real good. I enjoyed the moco though as the gravy was like a sauce element to a dry plate. I'd come back here again not on a weekend and when I feel I want to park here. That parking situation was close to knocking it down 2 stars as it was worse than driving into Waikiki. I know that parking has nothing to do with the restaurant really or bad drivers but I need to take into account their location in a high traffic, and cramped parking lot. I was blown away, I got the kanak attack and this plate honestly made me want to cry. The meat was so tender and melts in your mouth. The smoked meat just overtakes the smell of the entire room, absolutely amazing! The wait time was about 10-12 min, which is incredible considering the quality and flavor. Always in sesrch of Oxtail Stew because not too many places have it on Special and while scrolling through Instagram Da Ultimate Grindz Hawaii in Waipahu had an Oxtail Stew Special and I had to make that drive to Waipahu to give it a try. And I will say this, this Oxtail Stew here is pretty damn good. There were Three Nice Sized Oxtails that literally fell off the Bone and I love a Stew that is Savory and not Sweet and the flavor here was on point. What I love about this Oxtail Stew is that I found a piece of Star Anise in the plate which gave this Stew a very nice and subtle aromatic smell. It came with Two Scoops of Fried Rice not sure if I asked for it and it also came with some Spaghetti Mac Salad. This Oxtail Stew is just as good as Ray's Cafe in Kalihi because the style is almost the same and I left here very impressed. They even let me order a Side Order of Fried Chicken which is not on the Menu because i always like to try other things as well. This place right here is a Hidden Gem and don't know why they aren't as busy as they should be. They are located in the Waipahu Festival Marketplace on Waipahu Depot Road where Hashi Okazuya and Rocky's Coffee Shop is located. Also got a side of fries and Mac salad. My coworkers enjoyed all their food and it was good but they stacked all the plates in one bag so it started to fall over. The ahi Katsu was juicy on the inside and crispy crunch on the outside just like how Katsu should be. The sauce they drizzled on it was like the stuff you taste on a sushi roll. There's a lot of factors that are going into this review. The food was a 3/5, but the service and kindness were a 5/5. First off, I got a $100 gift certificate from the Hawaii Agricultural Foundation through one of their giveaways. The portions were exactly what you'd expect for the price, but there was just no wow factor that I was hoping for, and as a townie, I can't imagine venturing back out to the west side to get it again - but hey, if you're already there and are craving a hefty lunch, maybe you can check them out! The Heart Attack Loco Moco ($14) was a monster moco consisting of brisket, pork belly, two eggs, two scoops white rice, and gravy. The meats were well seasoned but the gravy was a little too thick and clumpy and didn't have any flavor. This was definitely the biggest plate out of everything we ordered. The Garlic Shrimp ($12) was just very average for me, and I found the Ahi Katsu ($12) & Fish & Chips ($11) just a tad bit too dry BUUUUT i'm not a huge fan of crinkle cut fries but they did theirs really well. We ordered the Ahi Katsu (quite a few pieces of fish and just the right amount of sauce on top as I don't like a lot of sauce - I liked it); Garlic shrimp and Kalbi combo (son ate this one all up; I stole the garlic to eat on top of my rice); Korean chicken (has just a little kick to it, crispy skin and moist meat; plenty to share); and Heart attack moco with fried rice (although the fried rice was a bit on the salty side, came with a good amount of chopped meat and eggs cooked perfectly). Tried the Trio & Ahi Katsu plates which were good. The plates a generous servings. Ahi Katsu was good, a bit overcooked but flavorful. The Kalbi was tasty but the meat was a bit tough. Those were the main reasons for dropping one star. Also tried the garlic fries which was had very good flavor but the fries were all tiny pieces and needed to be crispier to hold up to the garlic butter poured over it.
