The diner was full and had more take out orders so i get it... they were busy. But every employee walking around came to check on me and my son while we waited. And checked back multiple xs. Props to Mgmt for instilling great service skills in their team! Since we waited awhile i asked if my son could have a water but our order came out same time. Staff still went and made him a regular size water to go! I also didn't reaize the food doesn't come in bags or a box unless you check the box somewhere on the ordering site, but they were nice enough to excuse my newness & give me a cute matching themed bag. Normally you gotta pay for the bag, not sure how much tho. They have some killer daily specials: chicken katsu, NY steak or chicken bowl only $10.99 or burger & fries $8.99 (max 2 per customer)...who does that! Seriously a great value! Prices overall seemed lower here.. Katsu was good, short ribs good, fried chicken good (but like Japanese style battered and cut). The curry could be better. And i was disappointed in the katsu curry because the curry wasn't on the katsu, it was in a surprisingly small container that wasn't enough (see pics). My overall experience was great because of my experience with the employees, how nice & cute it was, & the food that I liked was good. I just won't get anything curry again. We got a Large Loco Moco and a Small Garlic Ahi. Garlic Ahi: Really good! I was actually surprised by how big the portion was for a small. Definitely felt like a good amount of food. Loco Moco: 6/10 -- It was okay, but the sauce was the part that didn't really do it for me. I was hoping for a richer, more flavorful gravy, but it tasted a little lacking. First of all, I was impressed that the dining area was so nice and clean. However, the char siu fried noodle and crispy gau gee takeout I ordered was a different story. The crispy gau gee also had a slightly off smell to it, but it tasted normal. One thing that stood out to me was one of gau gee had a lengthwise gash in it. The lo mein(fried noodle) was extra hot, but the smell of the food was slightly peculiar but I paid it no mind. Then, the noodles were way too goopy and the taste was a little off but I still ate it. I was hoping it dry like gon lo mein. I picked out and ate a char siu strip from inside the lo mein and it tasted like it was starting to spoil. A slight aftertaste lingered after I ate. This is my first time eating food from Oh My Grill. The dining area was so nice for a plate lunch place that I wanted to give it a chance. I shouldn't have ignored the red flags (1)the weird smell coming from the food and (2)the large gash in one of the crispy gau gee. The char siu fried noodle was among the worse I have ever eaten. Maybe I should've ordered something different or something more popular but because the noodles was so bad, I not going back for a long time. I'm disappointed. 10/10 Great Food, Big Portions, and Awesome Service! Alright, I've never been here before. I've seen some negative reviews and some positive ones, so I wanted to give my own honest take. This place has the same kind of local-food vibe you get at a lot of places here in Hawaii something I can really relate to. It reminds me a little of L&L, except this is actually a sit-down restaurant. As soon as I walked in, I liked the atmosphere. The decorations were nice, and I immediately felt comfortable. As a bigger guy, I always worry about restaurant seats being too small, but the seats here were actually nice and roomy. The music was also poppin' They were playing current music, which I really enjoyed. But the biggest plus for me was the food portions and how friendly the servers were. The three young workers were working hard, and I really appreciated their effort, so I made sure to leave them a good tip. They definitely deserve the recognition. And the food? 10/10. Big portions, exactly how I like it, and the prices are very reasonable. They're not expensive at all for the amount of food you get. The loco moco burger steaks were tender and cooked perfectly, and the curry beef was also cooked just right. Everything I tried was delicious. Service was ok. They do a lot of take out so another server came to help us when the first got caught up with the walk ins ordering to go/picking up their called in orders. Staff from back were very noisy - came to the front area and were talking loudly. I felt like I was in a Chinese restaurant. Ambiance - high ceilings so sounds carry. Didn't help the noise from the back staff. Walls are nicely painted. Food. Hubby's Orange Chicken was VERY spicy but not labeled as such. Chicken was dry. My Teriyaki Pork was the first I've ever had! It hasn't been marinated long enough so it wasn't very tasty AND it was horribly overcooked. I actually lost my appetite. Tonight we did takeout Monday for the family and everyone was very thrilled with their choices. Chicken Katsu, Garlic Salmon, Terri Beef and Kalua pig and cabbage and we all rated it 5 star! My family and I love eating at Oh My Grill. We always leave with our bellies happy and full! This location is in Pearl City next to Cherry on Top/Foodland and there are tons of parking. I always get a mini beef stew which always makes me full despite it being the mini. I love the "create your own combo". I do that for my kids since they don't eat much and we usually make a combo with the BBQ chicken and fried chicken wings which are both awesome! The saimin is also good! The place is not that big but seats a pretty good amount of people. The chairs are really comfy! The employees are always nice and always accommodating. Don't be intimidated if you see a lot of people standing outside if you're dining in. It's better to just go in and see how long the wait is because there's a good chance the crowd of people are just waiting for their food and ordered take out instead! Last night we decided to dine in at oh my grill instead of taking it to go. I tried something different. It reminded me of my mom's caldareta and it did not disappoint. It was so delicious and was such a comfort food! I would definitely order it again. The gaugee was crispy, hot, and delicious. Although the wasabi sauce it was paired with was not something I enjoyed. This would've probably been better paired with a sweet chilli sauce. The trio plate wasn't bad either. I enjoyed the Teri beef. The Mac salad and rice side is a pretty basic side you'd normally get with these types of plates. All in all a good dinner and the server was attentive. I've always seen these around but never got to try it until today. They have a few different locations but this one is next to Foodland in Pearl City across from Walmart. Lots of free parking in the shopping center. The menu is VERY extensive. They have normal plate lunch selections, breakfast, stir fry Chinese, and even mentaiko spaghetti! I wanted to try so many things but we got french toast, mochiko chicken, and the chicken katsu was on special so we tried it and it ended up being my favorite thing! Their katsu sauce is so good, thinner and has a little kick. Mac salad and rice on point. The mochiko chicken had good flavor but the chicken was a little too fatty for me. French toast was also good. Very fair prices and portions. They also have stamp cards where you get stamps if you pay cash! This was our third time eating here, and unfortunately each visit has been worse than the one before. After this experience, it'll probably be our last. My wife and I invited a friend and his wife to dinner. My friend ordered the chicken katsu and kalbi mixed plate. When the food came out, it looked great, but after taking his first bite, he realized the chicken was still raw in the center. We immediately let our server know. Instead of taking the entire plate back, she brought over a small plate and asked him to move just the chicken katsu onto it. A few minutes later, another server returned with what looked like the exact same pieces of chicken (we knew it was the same because of the shape of the pieces). Rather than making a fresh order, they had simply dropped the chicken back into the fryer and served it again. That was really disappointing and honestly concerning. Once the raw chicken had been sitting on the plate, it had already come into contact with the rice and the kalbi. Refrying the chicken doesn't address the risk that the rest of the meal may have been contaminated. At that point, the entire plate should have been replaced. What made the experience even more disappointing was that there wasn't much of an apology or offer to comp the plate. Everyone makes mistakes, but it's how those mistakes are handled that leaves a lasting impression. We weren't looking for anything free; we just expected the situation to be handled with a little more care and concern for food safety. So why is it the "best" of the chains? - Perfectly braised, fork tender, not dry and stringy beef in the curry. Said curry is also loaded with melting root veg. - Well seasoned, not rubbery, house made hamburger steak. - Well made dripping brown gravy. Not packaged. - Well cooked chicken katsu. Crisp, not oily, juicy and well seasoned. There are misses like using a dirt cheap cut for the teri beef with so much sinew that you'll think it's your dog's chew toy. You are greeted when you walk in because they ask if you want to dine in or take out. The atmosphere was nice, I like how comfortable the chairs were. We've tried their burgers before and we wanted to have them again. We ordered the burgers, the soup of the day which was potato soup and fried noodles with spam for our daughter. We wished all of our food came out at the same time but the burgers came out first. We ordered the noodles for our daughter and it came out way later. We've never been so I asked if it's always that busy around the time we went but the staff member let us know that the Aiea location was under construction, so the overflow was coming to them. Either way, stellar job to everyone working. We ordered the Chicken Salad and the Chicken Katsu special. Both dishes were flavorful and super fresh. I wasn't not expecting much from the chicken salad because you can get it pretty much anywhere but I would honestly go back just for that. Oh and with an in house bathroom so safe for elderly too. There is room for around 40- 50 people to be seated. I notice they do a good deal of takeout too. The staff is down to work. Mostly chinese with the chinese waitress ethic of "efficient but not friendly" but a bit more pleasant than chinese restaurants and service was good. All our food came within minutes of each other (very important when dining with others) The menu selection is huge (pic). Anywhere from hamburger steak....Chicken wings...burgers..salads...poke..the list goes on...Anyways the food is pretty much L&L on dinnerware but I gotta say their burger was surprisingly a lot better than average...seriously a real good burger!!. (Not a processed patty a real tasty juicy hamburger patty) Prices are very manageable (nothing is cheap anymore) defintely cheaper than gyppos. The chicken and kalbi were cooked perfect. The Teri beef was a little chewy but as a thin piece of meat, I feel like it would be hard not to be. Flavors were good, surprisingly each piece tasted different- the Teri beef was more ginger forward than the rest. I even really liked their Mac salad- it's more mayo forward than anything else but I prefer that over the sweeter ones. My husband also had the same opinion on the Kalbi as me but he did not like his garlic chicken. Flavor was good but it was insanely over fried to the point where the chicken inside was stringy. So this was our 1st time to this location and I'm not sure if I'd come back. The staff were friendly and the ambiance was nice. There is lots of parking which is a plus but the food was just okay. I had the beef stew and literally took 3 bites and couldn't eat any more. I did order a bowl and was surprised by the large portion but there were 3 pieces of beef of which I ate 1 1/2 because it was so fatty and grisly. There were 2 potatoes one really big one that I didn't bother touching because it had black spots in it and the other wasn't cooked long enough in my opinion. I also had one large carrot that needed more cook time. The base tasted like caned tomatoes paste and I actually had a glob of tomato paste stuck to one of the potatoes. I would not reccomend this dish. My son got the wagyu locomoco and he was pleased. The egg was cooked perfectly and the meat was well seasoned. The gravy was also a good texture and taste. Would order this again My daughter got the shrimp curry and it was tasty. There was a good amount of shrimp and they were cooked well. The curry was a nice texture and had a subtle spice. I would order this again. My husband ordered chicken katsu because he said that's hard to mess up, lol. The price is $9.99 which is a great deal for the amount you get but I have definitely had better chicken katsu at other places and don't mind paying an extra dollar or two for it. We ordered the fish and chips to share and thank goodness we did because I was hungry and my beef stew wasn't it, lol. The fries were crispy, hot , and delicious. The fish was perfectly fried with a crunchy outside and moist, flaky inside. This was by far the stand out dish! My son also ordered a bowl of potatoe soup. I did not take a picture but I wish I had! It was disgusting! The texture was like glue and it tasted like cornstarch! He tried seasoning it with salt and pepper but even that didn't help. I asked them to take it off the tab and they did so without a problem. Overall not sure if I'd return or not but I can tell you for sure that if I do I will NOT be ordering the potatoe soup or beef stew, lol. read more

The kiddies enjoy this place a lot and always want the special chicken katsu ($9.99) plate. The price is not only appealing, so is the huge portion. And as soon as you walk in, everyone is so welcoming and friendly. My father-in-law also enjoys the shrimp curry bowl. He usually doesn't have a lot to say and doesn't have much of an appetite, but this time he ate half and took the other half to enjoy home. Our last visit it seemed as though the booth area closest to the entrance was broken but other than that it is very casual, with low volume music playing.
