Came here for the first time in a long time. Ordered the pork adobo and pinakbet plate and a side of pork guisantes. For dessert, we ordered halohalo, casscaron, banana lumpia, and bico. Everything was pretty delicious. The pork adobo was super fatty, but delicious and tender. The pinakbet was flavorful, but I wish there were more squash and meat. The pork guisantes meat was pretty tough. The halohalo was huge, but I wish it was a bit sweeter. The casscaron and banana lumpia were amazing. Staff are super friendly. Lots of table to dine at and a decent sized parking lot. They don't have a menu and they only serve 1-2 choice plates, no more, but you can order side dishes as well. I was craving breakfast longanisa with egg and rice. I was reluctant to order because of how some of the food was displayed. Some were in the steam table and some were simply placed on the counter on a plate with no heating underneath. There was a full spread of Filipino food straight from my childhood but what I was looking for was biko and bud bud and that I found! Those two items were only about $10. It was exactly like I expected. The bud bud was colored purple. It was perfect dipped in sugar! The biko was also very good. I always get transported back in my mind to days when my mom would bring me to Filipino potluck parties where I got to enjoy food from my culture. If you're looking for AUTHENTIC ILLOANO food this is the spot to go! All the dishes they serve reminds me of being at my Lola's house in the Philippines and even dishes I grew up eating. They serve everything from Lauya, kalding, inabraw and even popular dishes like adobo. My favorites are always the kilawin, fried silet (intestines) & their freshly made pancit. When you dine in, they serve it to you on actually plates and bowls but the servings are BIG! You know it's going to be a hit when there's two Filipino titas serving you! For the price tag of $25 on a beef papaitan dish, it ain't even worth it. Didn't ask about the price before buying one so i just decided to just leave it as it is and just try. And yes i was disappointed as much, food had no flavor (had to revise myself) meat was tough and chewy. Compare to the usual store i'm buying most of the time. This is just not worthy. Very different and authentic filipino dishes here. Goat stew (kaldereta) - 4 stars - because it's the only place that I know of that serves goat. This delicious dish has a strong stewed flavor that drowns out any hint of gaminess to the goat. Pigs feet - 3 stars - they gave a lot, but it was mostly bones and fat, hardly any meat. The flavor was a blended sweet sour taste. Vegetable with coconut sauce - 5 stars - I don't know the name of this dish, but I haven't seen this sold at any filipino restaurants I've been to. Overall, they offer a variety of great tasting different filipino dishes, especially a lot of vegetable choices that is cheaper than other restaurants. I'm rating the service as 1 star because it was just unacceptable. We preordered a couple of pans for a baby shower and even paid weeks in advance!!! On the morning of the event, I attempted to call a few times to make sure it was ready for pick up but no one answered. I sent my uncle went to pick up the order & it wasn't even ready!! They said they could not find my order. I was so furious!! Cashier name was Tommy On the receipt. So I called the store to make a complaint, and the lady told me it'll be ready in 30 mins?! It goes well with some hot steamed rice with soy sauce so I highly recommend it. What can I say? I've been eating the goat dishes here ever since I was little and loved it. All the other dishes are okay, just the typical Filipino food that grandma can make. We had this delivered at work and I ordered the Tilapia and the bamboo salad. Tried the salad out of curiousity and for my adventurous side and it was definitely different. Reminds of a pickled beet without the beet so if you are into pickling give it a shot. I have never had a fish with its entire body intact so I was a bit hesitant when I saw it. I thought they must of pulled it straight from the ocean and threw it on the fire! It was soooo good and seasoned very well; a real winner and a nice surprise. The Beef Stew is so good. That is highly recommended to a must try. We ordered cascaron, cassava cake, mochi and puto.. So good. I was worried that they will give little for. This was the first place I went to after landing in Honolulu. What sold me to this place was that they serve goat in different ways. We walked in around 230 so the lunch crowd is over and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. I wanted to have the all you can eat but I elected to just get 2 dishes with rice. I got the Goat Kaldereta, and Snails. When I sat down to eat my food I realized that my meal wasn't hot, The goat was warm, and the snails were cold. I was only able to eat the goat, the snails cold did not taste good. After finishing the goat, I wanted to have Balut. But when I got it, that too wasn't hot. So disappointing. And I am glad I didn't get the AYCE. I wouldn't have eaten much of anything. read more

The mama that was putting the food on the burners was efficient in cleaning around the containers, but no smiles, no conversation. The papa that was clearing the tables is quick to open tables but again no smiles, no conversation. My favorite was the cashier whom I asked to take out my dessert and she said no but proceeded to pack another tables dessert? I said , " oh lucky they get to take home thier dessert" facial expression stoic, she didn't reply and no explanation. Don't bother eating in, just do take - out. Sucks! This place was recommended to me by the cab driver who took me to the airport when I visited Oahu last September. I was visiting again in October so I said to myself, ok, I'll go there when I return. I did. And I'm sorry I did. Having driven from Waikiki, I walked in and there I saw two buffet stations. No plates or bowls or silverware at either one like you would expect from a buffet restaurant. So I wondered how to proceed. Went up to the counter and there was this guy on the phone yapping away. Waited for him to finish so I could ask him how the buffet worked. Then he gets off the phone but immediately gets on another call without even acknowledging me, a customer. Then, while on the damn phone, he hands me 2 little bowls and a plate with a cup size serving of rice. This was my que I guess to get my food. He gets off the phone and walks out of the restaurant and a girl takes his place behind the counter. She takes my money. I was so goddamn pissed and I was ready to leave but then I decided to stay to try the food. The pork adobo was good, the pusit in the pusit adobo was gummy, the vegetables in gata was good. But all I could think about was the bullshit service. Then someone decides to watch some loud techno concert on the TV. It was so damn loud! I wanted to taste more food selections but I was so disappointed with the people who work there so I chose to leave. The food was not enough to save this place. NEVER AGAIN Kambingan!!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! Is there anything lower than one star? Of all the places I have been, this place is by far the worst in my entire yelping and dining experiences. My friends and I get here with the intent to purchase two buffets, a single entree rice plate, and a Filipino Breakfast Plate of Tocino. The buffet runs at about $14 a person, the single entree plate and breakfast platter run around $6. We order and everything is fine. I am then informed that there is no Tocino, but rather Tapa or Longonisa. I really had my heart set up on the Tocino plate, but I went ahead and ordered the expensive buffet and traded the substituted breakfast plate to my friend. Minutes later, after paying for the expensive buffet, one of the workers casually informs us that they do indeed have the breakfast. Wow that could have been brought to my attention yesterday! Now let's talk about the buffet. Probably a total of 14 stewed dishes ranging from Adobo, fish, pinak bet, and that list goes on. I asked them if the Lechon (roasted pork) was available and they said no. I asked if the tilipia fish was available, guess again!!! They claim that desserts are available too. Sure one of four items displayed, no babinka (rice cake), no casava cake (yucca rice cake), but rather you get ONE banana leaf wrapped steamed rice. Also the dishes taste terrible, with the exception of the adobo (chicken cooked in soy sauce and vinegar). I bet my 10 year old cousin can't mess up this dish though! Kare Kare (stewed ox) is full of fat and the sauce is awful. Caldareta (marinated goat) was over seasoned. Terrible... Here's the kicker! The kitchen completely lost my brother's breakfast plate (which I had previously traded to him). The male cashier then came over to argue with us, claiming that we canceled the breakfast rather than accept the substitution. We said "okay that's fine" and somehow he heard "no need"... wow... My mother always likes coming here and I only come here only with I am with mother. I will do my review in two perspectives 1) from a non-Filipino/local/local-Filipino/Filipino-American and 2) from a Filipino-Filipino. Location It is located at the Westgate Waipahu Shopping plaza area. There is parking in front of the plaza area but it gets filled up very quickly especially during the day time. And it is especially busy during the lunch time hour because there are several other restaurants and food places around. As for 1), the experience can be interesting especially if you are unfamiliar with Filipino food. Basically, the restaurant is run like typical Filipino family style. There are a couple of options that you can pay for. One of them is a buffet for a certain price. They have ala carte options. And they also have dine in and take out options. Ordering food could pose a challenge due to cultural but maybe more so language implications. Because of those challenges, the experience and situation could result in a possible unfavorable staff service. However, the food in my option is on point and most of it is pretty legit family style and homestyle Filipino cooking. On one side you have the vegetable options and the other side, you have the main entree options with all of the meats and soups. You can also even order several desserts on the side which are right next to the cashier. If you decide to dine in, there are several table and seating areas and they have a TV up but they only show Filipino news and stuff. Again. the cultural and language barrier might be an issue but hope you enjoy it nonetheless. When you are done with your meal, you can just leave the food on the table, no problem. The prices go from 5 dollars up and that is for a small item. An average meal will be from 10 to 15. As for 2), when you come in you can pretty much feel at home right away. If you are dining in then you will have to grab one plate. They have the vegetable dishes on one side and all da high blood kine stuff on the counter. Ask the Titas there for the special or if they are any specials. Feel free just to serve yourself too. If you are dining in, they have TFC up so you can catch up. They also have videoke but not sure if it is still working. It looks pretty old. I don't know what else to say in this section. But yeah overall when you come in here it's like dining at a restaurant in the Philippines almost because of the food, vibe, and atmosphere haha. Just some side notes, they do not have a restroom. They have a wash area where you can wish your hands if you are eating by hand with any food. When my mom was in town last month, an uncle ordered take out from this joint. I liked the dishes because I can't help but salivate over Filipino food, but most of what I ate from this place was on the greasy and salty side..so you know what that means -- lots of rice to absorb all of that! I would probably eat here again if someone pushed me to, but can't say I'd pick this spot to enjoy a meal. I can't give less than 3 stars because I helped myself to second servings, so it's not that bad. Karabasa (pumpkin) = A little on the salty side but yummy. Balatong with Paria (mungo beans with bittermelon leaves) = The mungo beans were cooked properly and flavored nicely but a tad salty. Still, I'd eat this again!
