We've been trying out different Da Vien locations around SoCal. This one was close to where we were dining that day. This one must be in the busiest shopping center. We were there on a weekend but it was nerve wrecking finding parking. Leaving, we noticed it was close to a hospital and CSULB. Must keep their business very busy. The location itself is a smaller cafe and the customers just kept coming. I ordered a egg coffee again but I can't drink one all the time. I will have to compare it to the egg coffees in Vietnam once I'm there. This is a great start. read more

She ordered the iced ube matcha and I ordered the banana latte for the first time. We also ordered their yummy ham and cheese croissants. Da Vien does not disappoint! Their banana latte is perfection! Not overpowering of banana taste like some other places I've tried. Another win for me! My daughter has had their Ube matcha before and she said her drink was yummy as always. It was her first time trying their croissant tho. I forced her to get one lol she took her first bite and said 'wow. 2 minutes later she gave me her own review on it: THIS. So buttery and soft like a cloud. It's light. I like it.' It was a little softer than my first croissant the other day but still is so good. I would never want a croissant in the middle of the day lol but Da Vien has changed that for me! I downloaded their app today because I know I'll be coming here a lot! Today was a buy one ube matcha get one free. My daughter went in and got our order and only came out with 2 drinks. She went back inside and asked them about the BOGO but apparently I didn't enter the promo code, which I know I did as soon as I saw it when I opened the app. They offered my daughter the other Ube matcha but she said it's okay - I don't know why she did that. Upon walking in...you see a nice and crispy venue to work at or simply chat at. Pleasant customer service. I got the sesame matcha. It was good. My friends got the sesame coffee and strawberry cream oat matcha and they loved those too. The inside was okay, however, the restroom was very dirty and smelly. I came on a Thursday afternoon and ordered through the kiosk. This location has plenty of seating inside, so it would be a nice place to hang out for a bit. I noticed they had bags of coffee on display, but when I asked the worker, she said they don't actually sell the coffee beans here. That made me a little sad because I was hoping to bring some home. I got the black sesame matcha and it was so good. The black sesame paired perfectly with the matcha and neither flavor overpowered the other. I've been here twice so far and I'm a fan. I love Vietnamese coffee and it's hard to find, surprisingly so I'm glad to have another place to grab it. Today I tried the marble drip since it's supposed to be the most popular. It's ok. Too milky for my taste. For the size, $6 for the coffee is a great deal so hopefully they don't raise the prices! I can in around 11am on a Monday after doing laundry and the place was packed with laptop warriors, and people were continuously coming in while I was waiting for my drink, so they seem to be doing well. If you don't usually like very sweet Vietnamese coffee, I'd recommend asking for half sweet. Just keep in mind that it may taste a bit more bitter that way. The Strawberry Cream Oat Latte was the standout for me. I was worried it would be overly sweet, but it ended up being a really well-balanced drink. The strawberry and coffee complemented each other perfectly, and it was refreshing without tasting artificial. I haven't tried the coffees here so the rating is for the matcha. I really enjoyed their coconut matcha. I heard that the owner currently switched to a different matcha. I think it made a difference. The matcha tasted better. The color was more vibrant. I also tried their ube matcha. The ube was somewhat weak. Couldn't taste much of the ube. However, it was not bad at all. Service has always been really efficient, even when they're so busy when Da Vien has their BOGO deals. I like the decoration at this location--very modern and cute! I have tried many Da Vien drinks. I've tried a few lattes from Da Vien and they are always such a pick me up. I love Vietnamese coffee, it's so good. For some reason I've never been interested in trying a banana latte from anywhere, but my bf bought me Da Vien's banana latte today as a surprise and I actually really enjoyed it. 10/10 was such a delightful and sweet drink. When I'm there in person, I typically use the self serve kiosk to order and the service is fast and efficient. Never have any issues with the staff. Small location so seating can be difficult depending on time of day that you go. They have three options: 1. Self service kiosk 2. Order with an employee at the counter 3. Order on the app and pickup on the designated pickup counter I have tried three drinks so far: 1. Banana Latte - my all time fave and it will be my go to ! Very creamy and not an artificial banana taste. Coffee is decently strong but there is an option for less shots of espresso if you want a lighter drink 2. Sesame Latte - tasted of sesame cream but it was also very well balanced and easy to drink. It is not my personal go to but I would drink it again if someone brought me it. 3. Banana matcha latte - it was ok, not my favorite matcha drink. However, I will have to try it again to give it a fair shot. I wasn't a fan of the matcha flavor, it was extremely bitter which is not my personal preference but it could have also just been an off day so I will update on my next try. Finally a Da Vien Coffee in Long Beach!! It recently just opened and located in the new plaza where Aldi is at. They are building quite a few new things there so I wonder what else will open up. Anyways, parking is okay. There's plenty for now since there's still empty business spots. The inside of the shop is nice and new. So clean! Plenty of tables and seatings. I'm not sure how I feel about this place yet I got the strawberry matcha It's like mashed strawberries on bottom, milk in middle then a foam matcha on top. I got a straw but the foam is so thick it's hard to mix aka you only taste the milk and very sweet strawberry (it seemed like a strawberry and sugar mixture). I got rid of the straw and tried to shake it a little but again hard with the foam and tried to drink it without the straw but again doesn't really work the thick foam just blocks everything so overall this drink isn't very strawberry matcha flavored. It's more like take the cover off and you'll get matcha, finish that then you'll get strawberry milk. Or you'll get strawberry, milk and once you can finish that you get the matcha. Finally got to try this place when my friendly coworker treated me as a Christmas gift. Since she has the app, there was a deal for a BOGO free Ube matcha. I was craving coffee, so I tried the marble drip at 30% sweetness and it was perfect. She also ordered the matchas at 30%. Anyhow, she told me to keep the second ube matcha for the next day since she left it in our work fridge, and it was so delicious! The only thing I noticed tasted a bit off was the ice at the end, but I don't know if that was because of the coffee or the ice itself. I couldn't imagine these drinks at full or extra sweetness. If you like the taste of your coffee or matcha (I believe they use ceremonial but not 100% sure) then I totally suggest the 30-50% sweetness level. I got the iced strawberry and cream oat latte drink (new one) & a hot ube latte, both 16 oz I also downloaded the app so I can start earning points. Both drinks were $12 & some change and they were both good, like nice and creamy like i like it. Love the crushed ice, I can eat a whole cup of ice if I could. Also, you can ask for drinks to be half sweet because yes they can be on the sweet side if you're not into that & if you do like sweet just leave it alone. Such an aesthetic place! Love the space here. They have kiosk ordering which is convenient. I got my drink very quickly, but not sure if it's because there was no line when I got there. I ordered the large einspanner which is only $6. So many other cafes would easily charge $7+ for a similar drink and size. The coffee itself was strong in a good way and the ratio of milk to coffee was just right. I got 50% sweetness, but I would go for "extra sweet" next time since I prefer it more sweet.
