My family and I stumbled upon this place by chance and I'm really glad we did. It ended up being some of the most authentic Indian food I've had in a long time. I had the bhangan bharta and daal thali, and everything was excellent. The bhangan bharta had that great smoky flavor and the daal was rich and comforting. It felt like a real home-style meal. My wife and daughter had the chicken tikka masala with roti and it was delicious. The chicken was tender, the sauce was perfectly spiced, and the fresh roti was perfect for dipping. We finished with mango ice cream and gulab jamun, which were both amazing. The mango ice cream was refreshing and the gulab jamun was warm and perfectly sweet. Sometimes I get pretty bad cravings for Indian, or Punjabi cuisine and this place has hit the spot every time. The Chicken Curry is pretty spicy but it's so good and the garlic naan is amazing with it too. The Veg Samosas are big and packed, plus they're super yummy. The people who run it are super nice too and they've always treated me kindly when I've come in to sit down after ordering. The inside of the store is very nice as-well. Overall, five stars! 3/15/24 Chicken Tikka Masala ordered spicy with rice, Roti & samosas ordered. The worker had a difficult time speaking fluent English, but was nice & apologized. It worked out. He said it would be ready in 15-20 minutes. I went in to get it shortly later. The worker was kind and the order was ready! Paid for it & left. Lunchtime! Order split. Samosa was Really DELICIOUS! We ordered chole bhature, aloo paratha, palak paneer (for kids with no spice), kadhai paneer, tawa and tandoori rotis, and chai. Everything we ordered was excellent. Also ordered veggie pakoras which came out hot and fresh as did all our food. Everything was SO flavorful, and we appreciated PJ's explanations when we had questions. Perfect spice level, which PJ had asked our preference upon ordering. Pay at the end - smart because we added on Mango Lassi and almost tried the desserts lol The only issue, no way to add a tip onto our credit card payment. Service was awesome. but...I ordered prawn vindaloo and the shrimp were the tiniest of shrimps imaginable. The vindaloo sauce was delicious as with the garlic naan. i will definitely try this place again. Just dont call it 'prawn" when there werent. We have ordered take out three times from Daana Paani and have been impressed by the consistency in flavor and quality. Our favorite dishes are the Baigan de bharta, vege biriyani, butter chicken, cholle bhatture, garlic naan and allo gobi. The vege biriyani is one the best biriyani dishes I have tasted! Their vege samosas are also delicious but not necessarily my favorite (I prefer a crispier texture). They are great with honoring our mild spice request, something that other Indian restaurants miss the mark on. We have only ordered take out so our experience with service is limited to the register. It does seem like we might have been overcharged the last time but this is also on us for not taking notice before we left;we will definitely double check the charges the next time we order. Ambiance isn't the best but thankfully the food travels well as take out and we get to enjoy eating from the comfort of our home. Now with that being said: this is the best I have ever had out of every Punjabi cuisine restaurant that I've been to. And we're talking all over Fresno + LA. Hands down my favorite place. I will go out of my way to pick up dinner, and the drive alone is 30 min from where I live. It is worth it every. single. time. Not to mention, their food is surprisingly cheap? Two orders of either or (butter chicken, chicken tikka) with two side of rice and two sides of garlic naan will "set you back" about 30 bucks. And the portions are relatively big. This is the best Punjabi food I have had in the US. The food is legit Punjabi dhaba style. Tandoori roti that melts in your mouth and garlic Nan was soft like a pillow. So not a good experience in this place at all. I read the online reviews I was in the area and decided to try it for lunch. My food took almost an hour to come out. (45 min). I only ordered veggie Pakora, tandoori, shrimp, and white rice. The Pakora came out about 15 min later so I was hungry and got to mention those which I liked and we're pretty good. The problem started when I got to tandoori shrimp. There were only about seven or eight shrimp, less than 1 inch big on the plate. When I bit into the first one, I realized that it tasted like dry sawdust. So I tried a few more and they were all the same. I didn't realize that the shrimp I had been served were severely freezer burnt and then over cooked on the grill cremating them basically turning them into dry cardboard. I then took it up to the front to show the person at the register to suddenly pretended not to speak English, then she said " I don't know". So I indicated to her that I do know these are freezer burnt and inedible so I would like a refund. She stated that's how they are and explained she wouldn't give me one. I told her I've eaten this particular dish from a variety of nearly 100 Indian restaurants and have never had it served like this, as it was inedible. My advice is to keep driving and try another restraint that actually cares about customers. read more
