I have been in Indian stores and restaurants and this is the first time they made me feel so uncomfortable! It was clear that they didn't like our presence in the store. I love graying new food and pastries and since I was looking for this kind of sweets and it was on my way I decided to stop and check this store. As soon as we came in we felt the unwelcome look from the people working in there. There were couple of customers and they were acting the same way. I don't know if I was not dress properly for this store or something. The sweets are very good. Just the way I thought they be. So sad I am not coming back to get more. I definan not coming back. I'm back in the hood and this place is still a gem!!!. They offer meal entrees now since I've last been around (4+ years). Eating their food made me ask myself, what did I do in life to be blessed with such good food?! I ordered my favorite, aloo gobi, got something else I don't know what it's called but it was like a soup with peas and paneer, samosas and a side of rice. I was blown away. The aloo gobi was perfectly seasoned and the soft texture of the cauliflower and potatoes was on point. The pea soup was new to me. It was a savory gravy soup broth. The peas outside was still intact and solid and when you bite it, you meet the soft gushy inside of the peas that have absorbed the spices of the broth with a kick of spice. The paneer provides a complimentary milky and chewy texture to the peas. The rice was light, fluffy and buttered. There were some parts that had that soft crispness that rice can get when it sits on like a pan or something. I love that texture in rice as it complimented the meals. Their samosas are always good but I was reminded tonight of just how tasty they are! They potatoes inside were fluffy and not overly seasoned or greasy. Honestly, best Indian food I've had in a pandemic minute and it's close to home - which is even better! It felt super home made with love, like my Indian mother in law made it for me and her son. Except I'm not married. Food is that good, fam. Check out the market. I bought some frozen goods to try like the naan and some wraps for the first time. I love the samosas here. When I crave them or if I have family over I would normally call ahead and order about a dozen they are to die for and when I pick them up they are fresh and hot from the fryer. They are very friendly and have fast service. I also get the medium size bag of basmati rice and they have quite a selection to choose from. read more

I only learned of this place a week ago and shopped here for ingredients to make ginger masala chicken. The interior didn't have that much light and some natural sunlight helps illuminate the environment. Boxes are found lying on the ground and there seems to be a shortage of staffs. Had trouble at first to search for masala powder and cloves, but luckily I found them. Each were up to $4. Found myself in the soda aisle in front of the refrigerator/freezer. Thumbs Up were both contained in can and glass bottles. I opted for the glass bottles. A bottle for Thumbs Up costs $1.53, before sales tax. What surprised me was that they served dessert and snack at the back, next to the cashier. They looked good, I wasn't interested at the time. Looking back, I probably consider getting one of the snack/dessert. Despite the crowdedness of the boxes and dim luminescent of the environment, Apna Bazar is worth seeing for Indian products: ingredient, goods, and cooking equipment. It's also worth trying their dessert or snack. They do sale a whole bag of Onions at the door -- so produce is included. I definitely recommend. read more

If you have a passion for all things Indian food, Apna Bazar is the place for you in Sunnyside. They have all the ingredients you could need in order to make dal, spices, and fresh things like vegetables. They have a great price on fluid milk. You can buy a 50 pound sack of yellow onions. I frequently come here in order to obtain Indian snacks like flattened chickpeas that are seasoned with Indian spices, coated peanuts with a spicy, crunchy coating and other items. They have raw nuts in bags. Prices are excellent. They have five or six different types of black tea. They have cosmetic products. They recently expanded so the store has increased in size by about 50%. In addition to providing Indian groceries both fresh and dried, they also have a chat shop. These are cooked or prepared snacks. They have excellent samosas which are spicy. But my favorite is an order of Tikka with Chana masala. These are spicy potato patties but they are about 2 inches high, and an order includes two of those which are approximately 3 inches in diameter, covered with garbanzo beans which have been cooked in a spicy tomato sauce. They top them with a bit of yogurt, chopped cilantro and chopped red onion. It is fiery hot but a delicious vegetarian lunch or snack. I absolutely adore this dish. They also have really good samosas. The potato patties that they serve in this particular dish, however, are basically the same mixture that you find inside of a Samosa. You can order right there and take out. They used to have a tad of seating I'm not sure if they do because of the current situation with the coronavirus. However they have remained open. Other items: Dried snacks which they have include the Mo pleez brand, And also Haldarains. They have their own deli case with snacks they make and desserts. Cookies! I don't know the names, but my favorite are a creamy white round cookie with chopped pistachios in it and flavored with cardamom seed. They are just scrumptious! Excellent with tea or chai. This place has always met my expectation and done a fantastic job! 1) 99% this is the cleanest, well organized true vegetarian/vegan restaurant/grocery store you will find in Fresno. 2) It's in a bit odd location, which is not a big deal. 3) Their samosa, Cholay, chutney are best in comparison to other Indian places in Fresno. 4) Must try Chole Bhature order. authenticity of the home-cooked meal along with well-balanced spices and herbs. 5) Both partners Mr. Singhs are good people, If you have a complaint they work with you to rectify the issue. We needed to stop for lunch on a trip south on 99. I picked this place out of a short list of options. Even with all the five star reviews I had modest expectations. But I gotta say, so far this is the BEST Indian food I've eaten in the US! We got the chatt papri, bhartha, saag, and roti. Everything was very fresh and tasty. The bhartha was a stand-out for me - I usually don't like bhartha, but it was perfect. The roti were super fresh, hot and tender. Everything was just super tasty. Most of the dishes come in 16 ounce or 32 ounce sizes. 16 ounces of anything you like plus 4 rotis is enough food for two people, and costs you about $10, which is incredibly reasonable. For ~$16 we got enough food for two meals. That's a great price. There's currently no sit-in dining, which is sensible, so if you're on a car trip, you'll have to balance styrofoam containers on your lap. Or you could take it to a nearby rest stop and enjoy at a table. Either way, yum. I also love the big selection of Indian sweets and food staples, although we didn't sample any (I was very tempted to get some sweets...). If we lived closer I would shop here regularly for sure. so happy i can get indian food in sunnyside! this is a grocery store, but they now serve food too. it's vegetarian and their channa masala (which can be ordered vegan!) is amazing! also their shahi paneer is delicious too! samosas are good too. good prices too! they don't have naan, but they do make rotis. also, you can dine there, but it is very casual -- two small tables set up on the side, in the grocery store. they carry all spices and ingredients needed for indian cuisine as well. staff is very nice and helpful. read more

Service is a must in a store like this. There are now several Indian Grocery stores in the area but this is the only one I have come by more than once. There's a few spices that are only available in an Indian store. Also, many common spices are overpriced in traditional grocery stores. I come here to restock my kitchen. Each time I come, it is a struggle to resist the sweets made in the store and on display in the refrigerated case. Burfi with Pistachio is my favorite. We have also used their kitchen for events. They have a small menu of items that they cook and package for catering. Their vegetable samosas are fantastic. They can have them ready in small amounts in 10 minutes or less. As a common sense combined with courtesy, call a day ahead if you plan to get a dozen or more. This will reduce pressure on everyone. A great snack is to have one of those samosas with channa. Now I got myself craving one of those. read more

I used to be regular to this place. We use to buy food and grocery from this place a couple times a week. About a week ago, I ordered a dozen SAMOSAS from them for our guests. We served them and all notice a strange smell and realized they where bad. I took the rest back and the guy started to disrespect me and mock me that I didn't know what I was talking about and even offered to eat the bad samosas in front of me but never did.
