It's kind of yum, but then kind of not. We got the Boston Cream flavored fried dough. It had a slab of Boston cream on top with a swiggle of chocolate sauce across it. The cream was fine. The chocolate sauce was Hershey's, I think. The fried dough tasted kind of bland, but I do love the idea of a gigantic piece of fried carb. The man was nice. Very friendly and loud. Now, I love my high calorie no-nutritional content fried stuff, but this wasn't quite worth all that. I know, right? What am I, a health freak? I've been coming to this food stand all summer for fried dough and it's always great. For five dollars you get a good sized piece of fried dough. I always get mine pretty plain topped with powdered sugar and on occasion I will get some with butter along with my usual powdered sugar. They also do have fruit toppings here if you want something a little more. There are also cold drinks available for just a couple of dollars. Originally we were just looking at fried dough but saw that Daddy's also did burger, dogs, cotton candy and amazing hot and cold apple cider. I was walking around Boston Commons yesterday and I was thinking about buying something from here since I love fried dough. As I was walking closer to check out what types of food the vendor offers, he started sneezing and he didn't cover his mouth or turn away. He (older white man) was facing his cart as he was sneezing, which was gross to watch and he definitely sneezed all over the ingredients on his cart. I did not buy anything here once I saw that. Whoever owns this cart should review food safety and hygiene information. Sneezing around and on food is very unsanitary and it's definitely a health code violation. Can't top a tasty fried dough, oh wait yes you can with Boston Cream or one of the fancy fruits. I just went for the powdered sugar. This is a hot melt in your mouth treat, served up with a smile. This is just the right snack to give you some carbs to walk around all the tourist sites, or if you're a local go back to your office without experiencing that afternoon brain drain. Fried dough vendor. I like you. Very much. I also ran into this trolley/vendor/stand upon starting the Freedom Trail walk.. and it's just to the east of Boston Common. Who can resist the line-up of fried dough that is displayed on the little counter? Powdered sugar, blackberry (or was it blueberry?), apple, strawberry (or was it cherry?), and the mack daddy of them all: Boston cream pie. Yes sir, that's the one I'll have. Thank you very much. I think it was about $5, but it's a giant piece that I shared.. and it was plenty. I like donuts, but this is so much better! It's like a big, flat, puffy piece of sweet, slightly chewy bread (not greasy like a donut, really).. and then add the custard and chocolate topping (aka Boston cream pie version) on top.. and you can start feeling your eyes roll to the back of your head in pure delight. I think they call these Beaver Tails in Canada, right? Never had, so I don't know. Either way, get one on the beginning of your treck through Freedom Trail. You'll burn it all off by the time you get to North End for some authentic Italian food. :) The vendor guy was also a hoot! The Boston attitude just strikes my fancy. Fabulous place, almost don't want to tell people about it. My husband visited for work and raved. Brought me here for my birthday. Staff is so welcoming, they really like their jobs! A bald giant named Rockin Rob who said, " We're known coast to coast like buttered toast, he don't mean to boast but he's the most!" I did ten sit ups on the ground right there and ordered two. on 07/10/2017, my kids are so craving for Boston cream fried dough. I decided to take them to their favorite spot. However, I had to disappointed my kids this time.When we arrived at the booth around 2pm, there was a young looking man on the phone standing behind the booth, and he was talking on the about something related to college. I figured he is on important call, I waited 10 mins, and i think he should be done by then. At the moment of my waiting, there was two men group, and other three guys group was asking him for the fried dough. He waved at them and say no with phone attach to his ear. At the 10mins later, I decided to approach him and ask him politely and said how long is the wait? He replied back with i am on very important call, and i can't make any of your food. I had to comfort my kids to ask them to have fresh made lemonade right across. And take them for a swab boat ride. Well, half hour later on the way back, they still wanted fried dough. I was like omg, I though my remedy work. Opps, I had to go back to the booth again, on my way from the crossing light, I thought the young man was asking the neighbor booth young selling slush guy to looking out for the booth, And he took off. I have to apologized my kids, and said I guess mom have to take you back on the regular routine time which is Friday and the other friendly man will make your food. 1, sorry for the long lengthy short story 2.I think if this place is well know for fried dough, should definitely make sure the staff is beware of phone conversation when there is customers around. 5 stars for sure! Just stopped over for an afternoon pick me up and couldn't be happier! I got the traditional, full of lots of butter, cinnamon, and sugar. The man who was working today couldn't be nicer and even wrapped my fried dough in a nice foil package so that I could take it back to work on this windy day. After seeing on-line that Daddy's Fried Dough had been featured on the Food Network Channel, I was excited to give it a try. The handsome young man who was manning the cart was the son of the owner. He was friendly and talkative as my daughters and I asked him questions while he cooked our dough. We ordered the Boston Cream Pie flavor and it did not disappoint. The dough was cooked to a perfectly golden brown, it was tender and not overly greasy. I would love to give them a 5 star review, but I felt the dough could have used just a touch more salt, then it would have been perfect. We had Daddy's Fried Dough and Concessions at our event in Webster MA on Labor Day weekend and it was FANTASTIC. The Fried Dough, Pulled Pork and Meatball Subs were a HUGE hit with the spectators.
