Portuguese Egg Tart葡撻: The shop keeps the egg tarts in a warming box, which is very thoughtful. I've always preferred the cookie crust of old-fashioned Hongkongese egg tarts; they don't crumble or feel sticky in your throat. The custard filling looked a bit overbaked on the surface, but it was still smooth and creamy inside. The milk and egg flavors were qualified, and it was not too sweet. While not particularly amazing, it definitely deserved 4 stars, especially for a Cantonese person like me who hasn't had egg tarts in a long time. Hongkongese Egg Tart蛋撻: The crust is the same as the Portuguese egg tart, but the custard filling seems a bit more diluted, with a lighter milk flavor and a stronger egg flavor. People who aren't used to it might find it a bit eggy. I still prefer the former. Custard Bread奶黃包: Recommended by the owner, and it was definitely the best thing there! I ate it the next morning, but the bread was still soft, and the crust wasn't dry. The custard filling was generous, sweet, creamy, moist, and had a slightly grainy texture. Sausage Bread腸仔包: The seasoning was quite interesting, with a hint of wasabi (?). However, the sausage itself was just average, with a slightly starchy texture. It's a clean, quick, stop, and shop store. When I saw the bun priced for $3.80 I felt skeptical. I had to catch a greyhound though and thought why not I want to try a baked good from Chinatown. The service was swift and I found myself out the door in two seconds. Note: the meat bun travels well! I got home and ate it as is. Even at room temperature (cold), the dough tasted pillowy and the meat was so flavorful. They added water chestnuts in it which isn't my fav tho. And one piece of Taiwanese sausage! This is a pretty small bakery and everything is self service, so you'll have to get a tray and pick out your buns to bring to the counter to pay. They make a mean Portuguese egg tart here and the prices were like pre-2024 inflation levels (two tarts for around $3.60??), but the egg tart wasn't my absolute favorite in Boston. It was so jiggly that it fell apart before I could pick it up to take a bite. Definitely something to eat with a spoon. This is one of your pretty standard bakeries in Chinatown. I will say it seems like some of their pastries are a bit pricier relative to their competitors, but not by a substantial margin. I like that most of the pastries are set up for you to just grab them and pay at the counter. The employees keep the line moving, so you shouldn't be in there for long. One of my favorites is the BBQ pork bun because they actually do it right! A lot of the other bakeries give you a steamed bun with some kind of mystery meat in it, unless you're careful. read more

Good bakery. It was packed but they had some really nice looking and tasting desserts. I got some tarts (not the egg tart but another one) and a couple mousse cakes (mango and lychee). The lychee was a bit bland, but the tart and the mango mousse cakes were excellent. First-timer at a Chinese bakery--Quite good! Though I'm often in Chinatown, I've always been intimidated by the Chinese bakeries because of their sheer variety of unfamiliar offerings. Everything looks a little too processed and you imagine that they are over-sweetened. But, gathering up my courage, I waltzed in and scooped up a few--I was planning on trying two but had to buy 3 pastries because they have a $10 credit card minimum. Overall they were very good-- --Butter milk bun: My favorite, a really soft and airy pastry, filled with a mild marzipan-like custardy filling. Reminded me of a really fresh almond croissant. --Coconut cream bun: Soft fluffy outer bun, a little chewy, with a white cream filling that tastes subtly of coconut and is only mildly sweet. Very good. --Red Lotus cake: The most challenging of the 3, this was a visually beautiful round pastry, and the top was imprinted with Chinese lettering and other designs, like a mandala. Most of the interior is a plum colored red lotus paste, dense, mildly sweet, but just not a flavor I enjoyed much--probably an acquired taste.
