After a really fun day of day drinking,I found myself looking for something yummy to eat and maybe sober me up a bit-I stumbled upon this little unassuming place located right across the street from Silver Legacy-Los Gallos Taqueria. Upon walking in,I was impressed with the patrons,this was a no frills crowd who looked like they were all in on a secret that this place was going to be a really good foodie spot.This is one of those spots where u walk up and order at the counter and they bring your food out to you.I loved the decor as you can really tell the owners are proud of their Jalisco roots.As an added bonus-I do tend to like taquerias that have pics of the menu items on the walls-always been a good luck charm for me that the place would be pretty good. We ordered a few things-A Super Burrito with Al Pastor($13.50)-it was pretty tasty-way way filling-killed my buzz totally-which I guess was the goal-I'd order it again for sure.We Also got a Shrimp taco($5)My wife is from Jalisco,so kinda picky with her Mexican food but she thought it was pretty tasty-one of the most flavorful tacos she has had in a long time.We also got the 2 enchilada plate with ground beef and chicken($15.50)-This dish came with rice and bean-I really liked the rice quite a bit and beans went well with the chips because of the added cheese on the beans.One thing I didn't love was the fact that you had to pay for chips and salsa-I'm sure I'm just spoiled from all the places that gives those out for free but I guess that's the way it goes-pretty sure it was like $3-no biggie. We are not locals in Reno and decided to try a restaurant outside of a casino and found Los Gallos. We are so glad we did. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The carnitas had Flavor and were moist. The cheese enchilada plate was huge and delicious. . Chips and salsa came with our order. We also tried the horchata, the large was $4.00 and good. We were looking for Mexican food on our handy dandy Yelp and came across this place which is right across the street from where we're staying. We went over there with not high expectations. Place was packed with locals, so that sounded promising. We ordered based on the yelp reviews a pastor super burrito wet with green sauce and a super burrito wet with red sauce. Both were incredible. So damn delicious. It was so good I'm coming back tomorrow to take burritos home on the way home. Absolutely delicious the sauce was fire the meat was tender and perfectly seasoned. One of the best burritos we ever had and we're coming from the bay so you know that shit serious. This is going to be our must stop whenever ever in Reno. Seen a review on yelp and thought we would try it. Walking distance from El Dorado right next to Circus Circus. I Cannot recommend this place enough - service was quick and friendly. Staff cleaned tables as soon as customers left. --But the food, was so good. I got the chimichanga with grilled chicken. It comes with rice and beans in it. I'm not a big rice and big fan-But this was so good!! Don't let the price scare you away. It was worth every bit of it. And it was huge!! I took 3/4 of it back to eat later my husband got the green wet burrito and he said it was very good. He had half of it to take back home. This place was so unassuming and incredibly good. A solid, authentic Mexican restaurant with the best tacos I've had in a while. The free chips and salsa were fresh and still warm, the salsas really flavorful as well. My favorite was the pico de gallo. The tacos were also really fresh and warm when we got them. Service was so quick, we really only waited less than 5 mins for all our food to come. And they cleaned up our table right when we were done. Amazing place. Can't beat the $4 large horchata either. This place is just across the street from silver legacy and circus circus. Give it a try if you're craving Mexican food after a long day of skiing or snowboarding. Let's be honest. When I'm looking for an out of town Mexican spot, I look for 2 things: A little bit of dinginess and lots of actual Mexicans eating there. Los Gallos covered those two needs perfectly. Located on the main ave across from Circus Circus. Kinda cool pawn shops too but didn't have time to check them out. Walking in, it def has the authentic dinginess that is usually synonymous with authentic tasting food. Lots of handmade signs and pictures of food on the walls. And also lots of pictures from their hometown. It was a Monday afternoon and there were many local Mexican families eating there which is another great sign. Ordering was pretty easy. After doing me best To order in Spanish I realized the lady working there spoke perfect English. Haha. I ordered a shrimp burrito with everything and 3 street tacos all to go. It took a long time for the food to come out. There was a large party order that they were getting ready so I waited a long time. It was so long that I expected them to offer me a free coffee or soda but they didn't. The food finally came and it was a solid 4. The shrimp burrito was tasty and the shrimp was cooked really well. This place is a hidden gem. The definition of a mom and pop restaurant. I came here for breakfast and ordered the menudo. It was absolutely delicious. They allowed me to order it with a mix of corn and flour tortillas. It also came with a tray of chips and salsa. I hate giving such a low score but I feel like is a must. The service was great, the girl in the register was nice and welcoming. However, the food was not too tasty. I ordered five street tacos 2 asada, 2 pastor and one carnitas. The meat tasted like they used very old oil or the meat was old. The salsas were too mild and some were sweet from so much tomato which is not a big deal but takes the authentic taste away. I guess that's a personal preference. Lastly, the carnitas taco.. I tasted a small piece of the meat before the whole thing. The meat tasted old and way too refried or reheated. I felt bad for wasting food but I had to leave that taco untouched in the plate. The restaurant is small and nice nothing fancy but with enough space to sit and tv to listen to which was nice. I don't know if there is a better choice of food to pick there but if the meat wasn't good I can't imagine any other plates being any different. read more

Where to begin, first of all the carnitas had the right amount of crispy edges, tender meat and fat ratio. So flavorful, I swear my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The cocktail came with the nice big shrimp. On the first day, I had it with octopus and on the second without it. I enjoyed both equally I just wanted more on day two. First time there for lunch today with my family. It was actually recommended by my brother in law. Wow, so much of a variety of choices for tacos! I was amazed! We seriously wanted to order the whole menu. I ordered a lengua and fish taco, hubby ordered menudo, and the kids had chicken tacos plates. My kids are picky eaters! They devoured their whole plate and wanted more of the rice! I loved both of my tacos especially the fish taco.
