This review is about their home delivery service. I ordered a plant on Friday from Dahing. I've been to their store and purchased plants before but this time I wanted a tree. I went to their user friendly website put in the information about my apartment and how much light I receive during the day and within a few seconds they had several trees for me to choose from. After placing my order I received a text letting me know that the pot I chose was chipped and that they didn't want to send a chipped spot. So they gave me several options to choose from and just like that it was done. Today I received my tree and it is so much nicer than the one on their website. I used to buy plants from the upscale, trendy plant shops in BK. But once I found Da Hing they quickly became my go-to plant spot. They're about a third of the price and their plants seem to be healthier and have a longer lifespan than my previous BK stores. It's also family owned and operated by an adorable family. As an avid houseplant collector, I love the interesting, unique selection here - red India's, large elephant ear plants, rare varieties of calathea, money plants, etc. But I have a few issues: I've bought 8 plants in total from this place over the last year or so - 5 succulents and 3 tropical - and 3 of them died immediately, ridden with parasites. The price you pay depends on who you talk to. A woman quoted $60 for a 10" elephant ear plant one day, came back the next day to pick up and the guy there told me $50. $50 is only about 10% more than you'd pay in the floral district. $60 is excessive, especially when the quality is questionable. read more

I ordered a large, rare Micans online. Arrived beautifully but needed repotting right away (growing roots outside of the nursery pot). I'm not the best at repotting alone when it's a large delicate plant + limited space in my NYC apt. SO - I found Dahing on IG left a comment inquiring about repotting feed & talked to them several times in DM to confirm they repot for $10. I show up at the store, the very rude & extremely racist (the type of Asian shop owners who only cater to white people) workers told me immediately they don't repot outside plants & planters. I showed them the DM & they said they'd honor it. They killed my plant. It's literally sitting in a pot full of wood chips & absolutely no soil! Worst part is they did NOT shake loose my old soil but rather took it out of the nursery pot threw it it in the new pot and dumped cheap wood chips around it. From the minute I walked in, spoke to someone, "repotted" and paid - a total of 4 minutes!!!!!!!!!!! 4!!!!!!!!! Since I've been home (3 hours) my plant is in shock and dying. This is a $60 plant. I checked their website to see what was available and then called to confirm the Fiddle Leaf Fig I was interested in was still available and lucky me, it was! I was quickly and efficiently taken care of by a sweet lady over the phone, who was able to arrange delivery for the same day. Hours later, the gorgeous and very healthy plant arrived at my sister's apartment, along with a gift note. (Now, just hope she won't kill it. ;D ) I've been in the shop before but due to covid, limit my in-person shopping. I would definitely order for delivery from them again and recommend the shop to friends. (I have a lot of experience buying plants/flowers from the flower market, but was happy I was able to support a chinatown business during these times. I originally stopped in last week to check out the variety of plants compared to The Sill nearby. I ended up getting a peperomia from the Sill and was pleasantly surprised to find the perfect little planter for it at Dahing. While Dahing had a variety of philodendrons, fiddle leaf fig, and other popular houseplants, I wasn't able to find pilea peperomioides. I was able to find such a great selection of ceramic planters in the back, ranging in all sizes and being very affordable. Best of all, the planter I bought had a saucer built underneath it. It allows me to water my plant from its roots, which it loves. read more

When I visited early August I saw they have these harder to find plants available: Pilea peperomides String of Pearls monstera adansonii They also have tons of these 6 foot long pothos everywhere. Da Hing is one of my very favorite plant shops in the city. I've bought multiple plants from them over the span of six months and they've ALL done really well. Their selection and prices for both plants and pots are fantastic. Yes, their customer service might be lacking for some - but for someone like me who knows what they want before going in, they're great. I much prefer buying from them rather than somewhere like The Sill. For what its worth, I've overheard the salespeople at The Sill recommend their customers go to Da Hing around the corner for a better selection on at least two occasions! read more

STAY AWAY FOR THE GOOD OF YOUR PLANTS!! I bought 3 pothos from Dahing. I had 27 plants in my home to begin with, I'm now down to 12. My plants began showing signs of infection soon after I brought home the plants from Dahing. Upon closer inspection I saw mounds of mealy bugs hiding within the crevices of the pothos I bought which had spread to the rest of my plants. I'm currently trying to save the remaining fronds I have left and I'm truly so frustrated and angry. The mealy bugs brought in from Dahing have absolutely decimated the majority of my houseplant population. DO NOT purchase from here without extreme caution. They clearly do not inspect their goods thoroughly before putting them on the shelves. read more

What was once an obscure plant shop in LES has now become a hipster place for plant parents. Thanks to COVID, the surge in plant parenthood has skyrocketed....and so have prices. They offer local NYC delivery which is a plus if you can't make it to the shop. I ordered delivery thru them and so far no complaints. I also visited their shop once and it was a lot bigger than I thought. They have a lot of common plants but also carry a few rare ones once in a while. The most "rare" I bought from them was a monstera brandti which came in a 4" hanging pot for $30. A bit pricey in my opinion but I guess that's the market value now these days. read more

Honestly I can't say anything about the price or service since I was on the receiving end of the flowers, but the bouquet I received was so incredibly gorgeous and so well designed that I had to write a post. Our parents ordered two bouquets from them for a graduation ceremony and included blue thistle, poms, baby's breaths, eucalyptus leaves, and just looked so modern! They were wrapped in not a clear cheap plastic but color coordinated wrapping. I pass by this shop a lot but never went in since it looks like a typical nursery for plants, but wow little did I know they sell incredible bouquets that are well designed!! I quite like this place! They stock a lot of varieties of plants, many of which are popular and are difficult to find elsewhere. I love coming here whenever I'm nearby to see what they currently have in stock. The reason why I wouldn't give this place 5 stars is because of the staff. They're stiff, unenthusiastic, and the ones I've spoken to aren't very knowledgeable about plants. For example, when I asked if two plants had the same ID, the person just beat around the bush and said "they're similar." Didn't really answer my question and wasn't very friendly about it. Cold service aside, it's really a great nursery to find reasonably priced plants! read more

Like a couple of the reviewers below, I too had a bad experience. The first time we were there, the owners were very friendly, after that it seemed like they were raising prices every time we stepped foot in. Over the last half year, we have bought 6 plants from this place. The 3rd and 4th plant we got died within 2 to 3 weeks, little bugs jumping around the soil and plant. So we went back and bought different plants, 5th and 6th plants to replace those that perished. Those very quickly died too, again in 2 or 3 weeks.. We were very careful to ask on the care of the plants since the previous 2 died so fast. We were told the new plants we got were very easy to care for, and to just water every 2 weeks or so. They would survive like weeds. Within 2 weeks, dead again. When we went back they changed what they said earlier, saying no way they would have told us this plant was easy to care for. And that no, we shouldn't have watered it every 2 weeks, at least 3 weeks. Also, according to them probably the air quality was bad in our house, or there was not enough sunlight, which is different from the first time when they said no direct sunlight. All new information or rather, completely different information. Of course they encouraged us to buy new plants to change out the dead ones. I really am very disappointed in their business practices and their outright lies. Their knowledge on plants seem shaky and they are very grey with their prices for different people. I won't be back. There are better plants and prices even at the home depot. read more

I came here on a friend's referral and immediately fell in love. Shen is the female owner and is really passionate about her plants. Everything here looks very healthy, and they get new inventory on a weekly basis. We got two trees and a big cactus for around $400, much better price than most garden centers in the city. They also offer free delivery if you purchase enough, in our case we got our plants delivered on the same day for free! Will definitely be back for more plant shopping :) It doesn't look fancy from the outside, but it's a place any plant lovers shouldn't miss! read more

SO MANY PLANTS. Seriously they had a vaguely hard to find species I was looking for and didn't even blink twice when I asked for it. Also helpful and friendly when you're asking questions like "Really only want this plant cause its adorable, please tell me all you know so I don't kill it". Additionally - great prices (so great you'll definitely buy more than one plant from here). Note: my plant is still on full adorable mode thanks to all the tips from the staff. read more
