Update on Daiichi Ramen located in the Kuono Market place at Kahala . I had their Mapo tofu over rice and my wife had their crispy noodles w/shrimp . Side order gyoza of course cannot go wrong . This place is a fast quick Chinese food for convenience. A good solid **3.5** Service was fast and friendly. Lots of parking to choose from . Very strong air conditioning in the restaurant very cool . Lately it's so hot need to find a restaurant w/Air conditioning

The chicken Katsu curry plate is huge!!!!! Upgraded it with the fried rice! It's massive at least 2 meals in one plate! Probably one of the cleanest ramen restaurants out there, dining room, high chairs, bathroom always clean! Restaurant is always nice and cool to escape from the hot Hawaii heat, Service is always welcoming fast and quick! Our go to is the chicken Katsu curry plate and the ramen sets, you can get a mini ramen with two sides for a decent price! If you want one of the more popular ramen broths there's a little upgrade fee, Overall food is always great, service great, cleanliness awesome, quick service! Lots of parking at Ku'ono marketplace but it can get crowded and tight!

I was craving some soup and went to find this ramen place. I entered a place and I got seated immediately. I have ordered the tonkotsu ramen. The soup was good. There was enough meat. The food was a little salty, but overall really good, and I would love to come again.

Wednesday June 18, 2025. We decided to come here after the movie Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning at Consolidated Theaters Kahala. First time, we coming here. Parking is limited with all the other businesses here. It was 9:00pm. So, had plenty parking spaces available. I ordered the Miso Combo with Fried Rice and Gyoza. I only ate the ramen and 2 gyoza and I was full. I had to take home the 2 gyoza with the fried rice for another meal. Lol. Service was friendly and fast. The food came out in a short while. The miso broth was very hot and tasty. It was good! The gyoza was soft and the bottom was crispy. I tried 1 spoon of the fried rice and it was good too. Ambiance is casual and comfortable. We will be back another time to try the other food choices.

An easy and straightforward small restaurant. New menu. Better portions. True to taste if you want mild or hot spice levels. Service quick and to the point. Clean labelled condiments in the table. Lots of parking. The new menu of unagi on rice was spectacular. It comes with a larger than small size salad with a most delicious mango type dressing. Really yummy! Mr Bland had the filling shrimp ramen filled with hefty shrimps and good broth. He exclaimed, now, this will be one of our go-to easy going restaurants. Do a Yelp check-in while there, too!

Daiichi Ramen is a family-owned restaurant that has been around since '99. Their menu is pretty extensive, offering soups, salads, ramen, udon, cold noodles, curry rice, fried rice, plates, combos, teishoku sets, and even kid options. I ordered a to-go order of the following: +Special Combo with 2 Sides - you can choose between a ramen or a udon, in which I opted for the ramen; for the soup base, I went with the Spicy Tonkotsu, asking for extra extra extra spicy; for the sides, I chose the Gyoza (which came with 4 pieces) and the Mini Pork Fried Rice +Kimchee Fried Rice - this was served with a side of miso soup The ramen noodles were packaged separated from the ramen broth; the broth itself was creamy and super spicy, which was just as requested! Both the fried rice were of generous sizes, considering the Pork Fried Rice was considered a 'mini'; the Kimchee Fried Rice was pretty ridiculous in terms of the amount, and one could split this into 2-3 meals, easily! The gyoza were pan-fried well, which I was slightly worried about, as previous pictures of this item seemed to not look as crispy. Ordering the items were a breeze. Definitely a good spot if you are feeling under the weather and in need of a good broth or have a fried rice craving. +great combo deals +generous portions +seamless online ordering system

Ordered to go and very subpar experience. Noodles are congealed. One small, sad piece of meat. It's a step above "cup of noodles" quality. The pork stir fry similarly lacks meat and the curry side dish is also no meat and just soup on top of rice. Ramen Ya in Hawaii Kai is much better and cheaper. The base (miso) was not rich. Ramen Ya

I ran in and grabbed dinner as the hubby ate at Capriotti's. Both eateries are located at the New Ku'ono Marketplace in Kahala. To my surprise there was actually a waitlist and people were lounging in the wait area. I maneuvered around people to order my takeout. I got the Ramen Black Garlic Special Combo No.2 with four piece gyoza and calamari $17.25. Everything was good. The char siu was tender with bits of fat in it. The broth was nicely seasoned even though it could have used more of the black garlic oil. The gyoza was stuffed with pork and veggie filling. The calamari rings were fried to a perfect crisp. They both paired well with their respective sauces that were put in my takeout bag, which I appreciate. They were busy, but the wait wasn't that long. I waited about 10-15 minutes for the food before I was out of there.

Ample parking but it can get busy. Same shopping center as Foodland Farms. Service is about average. Food wise, the Chicken Katsu plate is huge. One of the best plates on the island in my book.

I had this place bookmarked after seeing my Yelp buddy - Bruddah Brian M. write an awesome review about this place called - Daiichi Ramen in the Kahala neighborhood. I'll be honest, I'm not really a ramen eater and rarely eat ramen unless its on a cold day in da 808, but what I do like is Japanese curry, and Daiichi Ramen does do curry. Located at the Ku'ono Marketplace, you can find Daiichi Ramen just next door to the Lanikai Juice shop. The restaurant is well lighted, clean, and the restaurant itself has sorta of an "L" shape configuration, not a large sized restaurant, but not small either. We didn't have to make reservations to come here to dine, but I would recommend coming here early if you don't want to fight for parking in the Ku'ono Marketplace parking lot. As I entered the restaurant, we were greeted right away & got a table instantly. Menus and water were dropped after we were seated and after looking over the menu, I decided to get the Mochiko Chicken Curry on Rice. My homie ended up getting the Mapo Tofu on Fried Noodles. What can I say about the grub? I would say that my Mochiko Chicken Curry was pretty good, generous portions, but I wished they offered different levels of spiciness like the other curry places I've been to in the past. As for my homie, he said that his Mapo Tofu on Fried Noodles was good too. Nothing like local style comfort food, and the prices here were pretty reasonable and on point. Now if you're not into curry like me, Daiichi Ramen does offer salads, soups, fried rice & noodle dishes, and of course ramen & udon options.

I am glad I found this ramen spot located in the Kuono marketplace which I didn't realize was there. A great area across from Kahala mall which seemed to have a lot of good food places and other services. This isn't a fancy place but great for groups and people looking for fast service, good food and decent prices. I was surprised at how fast our food came out after ordering and the portion size was huge. Compared to other restaurants, I would say it was a couple dollars under average. A couple of the plates that we ordered included: Tonkatsu ramen, fried rice and chicken katsu curry.

When we arrived, there were already a lot of people waiting outside. I went in to check on our order, and they let me know it would be another 10-15 minutes. Since it was a hot day, we wandered over to the crystal-themed shop next door while we waited. It had lots of interesting items to browse, although we ended up leaving empty handed. About 15 minutes later our order was ready, and we Ubered back to our hotel, which only took a few minutes. When we opened everything up, the portion felt a bit small for the price. The tonkatsu itself was tender, but for us it didn't quite live up to all the hype. I did appreciate that you can choose clam soup instead of the traditional miso soup, and there are different rice options as well, which is a nice touch. Overall, it was a good meal, but not one that completely wowed us given the price. It's possible the experience would have been different dining in, but with the long waitlist and the hot weather, takeout was the better choice for us.

I can taste the flavor and the egg is well cooked. The broth isn't my favorite but some people might like it. I think I prefer the tsukemen more. I like how you can adjust their saltiness and firmness/thickness of noodle. The first time I had the ramen, it was beyond salty. I actually did not know about the customization so maybe they made a mistake. That was 2+ years ago. Went here twice this month and my opinion changed. I love it. Will come back. Will try the lighter broth next time.

I feel I need to update this review as it has been 7 years! My family and I still come to this…read moreramen shop and we come here once a month! My daughter and I like to order the Shiro Wagaya Ramen and my husband loves the Garlic Wagaya (Kuro) ramen. We also like to order the corn tempura as an appetizer. The restaurant itself is not so big but fits quite a good amount of people. The workers are very friendly and accommodating. You can also order your food through a QR code and pay online when you're done. There are also restrooms onsite. Parking is still small and can fill up when it's busy (you also aren't allowed to park in the Church parking lot) If you haven't eaten here before, I would suggest looking on their website at the waitlist to see how many people are on there prior to going there as they can get really busy. You can also put your name on the waitlist online so you don't have to do it on site. They have a really good text messaging system letting you know when your table is almost ready.
