Everyone raves about the black garlic ramen but unfortunately I found the flavor of the broth lacking. It was more oily than deep/ rich. To be fair, it wasn't bad.. but it wasn't great either. Decent option if you want an average bowl of ramen but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

What is Noods? I had to Google it. I can't keep up with urban words nowadays. So keep up with me here. Vibe is chill as young folks say these days. Young server quickly greeted us and let us sit anywhere. He asked if we've been here before and quickly ran down some specials. I love it when they ask "been here before?" I was set on Black garlic Tonkotsu. Served with thin ramen noods. I love thin noodles and they're not yellow. No need to dye the noodles. I like them as is. Rich broth and crunchy garlic. Their special is carmelized kimchee gyoza and Gochuchang, spicy ramen. Kimchee gyoza wasn't too spicy but spicy ramen is spicy as it should be. Best of all, music playlists were from 90s. Love it even more! My Era! Anyways, comfortable, cute, easy ramen joint in Kaimuki with excellent service. You can park in Kaimuki municipal parking lot.

A generous 4 stars because I was walking around the neighborhood and saw they sold Lumpia so I dropped in and placed an order. It was a bit pricey for 5 small Shanghai Lumpia for $7 which is the most I have ever paid for small lumpia. The lumpia were crunchy on the outside, slightly soft wrapper on the inside and meat had good flavor. I'm not sure if they make their own lumpia. It reminded me of the Shanghai Lumpia sold at Costco. On the lumpia alone I would give Nood's a 3.5 but rounded up to a generous 4.0 rating.

Upfront, the food was very good and tasty. They even have an all vegan menu option along with their regular menu! But the reason for my 3 out of 5 stars would be for the service... or lack of. As a party of 3 on a Monday night at 7:30pm, we were one of few tables. We had to wave our waitress down multiple times for service- to order, for water refill, had to ask twice for a take out container... the slow service seemed to entice a more laid back situation for the workers to talk story rather than serve tables. But she was very nice during interaction! They offer you a stamp card and after 9 ramens, you get the 10th for free. The store front faces waialae avenue, but there is a lot of street parking as well as a meter lot behind the building. The food is what would bring me back to this restaurant but maybe I'll try out a different location. Be sure to try the corn tempura!

I see the reviews and I really want to love Noods but is it wrong if I say it's just okay?To preface, Noods is currently doing a lunch special with $3 off until 2 on weekdays, so the cheaper price is incorporated into the rating as well. I ordered the spicy miso. The broth reminds me of red miso paste vs. the creamier broth you normally get with white miso. It wasn't what I was expecting but it was still umami and tasty. The aji-tama was perfect and the noodles were a good texture, however the cha-siu was tough and fatty. The server was very kind and polite, the restaurant overall was clean. I think the lunch menu price is a fantastic deal and I may be back to try their other menu offerings at that price point!

FANTASTIC vegan ramen was devoured here last night. They have an elaborate vegan menu which I really appreciate as it's hard to find veggie options especially in Ramen. We tried their vegan creamy garlic shoyu and their vegan black garlic miso ramen and they were both sooo flavourful and loaded with yummy toppings. A special mention to their kimchi fried dumplings and the excellent dipping sauce it comes with. I wish I could just drink the sauce, it was THAT good! I'm so bummed I don't have Noods in the Bay Area, I hope to return before my end of trip.

One of the best ramen in Honolulu. Amazing food & cool vibes. The server was very quick and friendly. Will definitely be back! :)

I do not get the hype about this place.. I went when they first opened and thought average and probably won't be back. But years later I constantly see people recommending it. So I go back 2025 and try their classic tonkotsu. They actually have a buttload of different flavors and broths (april had a cool crawfish one). I wanted the classic let's see what kind of base they are working with. Lunch all the ramen was $2 off so that was a nice bonus. Also got the gyoza which was also recommended (pan fried). The tonkotsu ramen was mid. Noodles a bit over cooked, no chew to them. Broth was very light and lacking in thickness and flavor. Gyoza was nice but definitely not the best, could he way more crispy. The egg was actually my favorite - this was perfection! JAMMY and umammi! Hawaii is tough because we do have so many good ramen spots ! This unfortunately does not make my list.

Talk about quick service (and super friendly staff)!!! We were really hungry, so we ordered the Kimchi potstickers which came out minutes after we ordered them. And then about a minute later we got our ramen. Warm, squishy noods, and flavorful broth. There is also some red pepper powder on the table to add to your bowls to make as spicy as you want. While the Kimchi potstickers didn't really taste like Kimchi, it was still tasty. Will be back to try all the other broths. I tried the miso and the hubs had black garlic which super garlicky in the best way.

We absolutely love noods. My honey and I come here at least once a month, but were encouraged this visit to stray from our normal orders and were not disappointed!! I had their kabocha ramen and he, the tsukemen. Both were incredibly flavorful and generous in size. We also tried chicken karaage for the first time, which was hot and fresh, but not overly spiced or oily. The service here is also ways very good and the food comes out pretty quickly. Keep in mind, it is a small space with few tables that sit more than 4 people. We haven't tried their takeout yet, but always see people coming in to pickup orders, so I'm assuming the noodles sit well and are just as good enjoyed at home!

Creamy garlic shoyu ramen, special from Oct-Dec: pork adobo ramen, corn tempura, two extra ajitama, and a mango peach lemonade :)

Noods is probably one of my favorite ramen shops to go to! It's a little cozy shop on Waialae Ave. I typically park at the metered parking lot behind the building so there's usually ample parking (if there's none you can always go to the metered parking lot next to that one). The service was solid, no complaints there! I got my usual, the creamy garlic shoyu ramen which was flavorful and creamy. My boyfriend got their special that's running through October-December which was the pork adobo ramen. His thoughts on it was that the flavor profile was interesting (it's a shoyu vinegar base broth) and it was good but he probably would order something else next time. For those of you who like ajitama, their ajitama is really good where you can actually taste the shoyu that they marinated the eggs in. Their corn tempura is also always very delicious, super crunchy! I got a mango peach lemonade which the mango and peach flavors weren't too strong but they allowed me to mix flavors and it was only $5 so what the hell LOL! Overall, I always have a great experience at Noods and will definitely be coming back (please bring back the quail egg appetizer guys )!

    Spicy ramen challenge?

We have a very spicy ramen you can order but no challenge associated with it.

Just saw the photo of the Big Ramen Challenge. Is that still available? Could you provide information on it if it still available. Thanks!

It is. You’ll have 20 minutes to eat the entire ramen. If you do, you’ll get the ramen for free and a voucher for a regular sized ramen for free on your next visit.

Do you serve alcohol or is it BYOB?

Sorry. We don’t serve alcohol and we don’t allow BYOB

May I bring my own beer?

Sorry. We do not currently allow BYOB

    Is there a ramen challenge?

Yes, I believe you have to eat four bowls...

Overall, the ramen was very good, but I want to share an important tip about their waiting system so others don't get caught off guard. When your name gets close to the top of the list, do NOT wander away. They will call your name three times, and if you're not standing there, they'll cross your name off immediately. What surprised me was that they start calling names before the current customers have even finished eating or paid their bill. I had made eye contact with the host, pointed to my name and party size, and he acknowledged me. There were still people sitting at the counter eating, and it looked like it would be another 10-15 minutes before seats opened up. I stepped away briefly and came back, only to find my name had already been crossed off the list. The party that was supposedly leaving hadn't even paid yet and was still sitting in their seats. When I explained the situation, the host simply said, "Sorry, your time passed already. I called your name three times." Their sign says they will wait 3 minutes, but in our case it felt more like they called the name three times in quick succession and then removed it. Thankfully, after some discussion, he agreed to seat us anyway. So my advice: once your name is within a couple spots of being called, stay close and pay attention. As for the food, we ordered the Oxtail Ramen (spicy) and the Cashew Pork Ramen. The ramen itself was excellent. The oxtail was tender, although it didn't have a lot of flavor on its own in the soup. They provide a separate bowl with ginger and what appeared to be a ponzu-based sauce, and the intended way to eat it is to remove the oxtail from the soup and dip it into the sauce. That definitely enhanced the flavor. The restaurant is set up with bar-style seating in a half-oval arrangement. Your party will be seated shoulder-to-shoulder, and guests will be sitting directly across from you on the other side of the counter. I'd estimate there are about 25 seats total. Service is efficient, food comes out quickly, and most customers finish and leave fairly fast. For reference, we arrived at 8:38 PM on a Tuesday with 17 people ahead of us. We were seated around 9:15 PM, our food arrived by about 9:30 PM, and we left around 10:00 PM. Overall, this would have been a 5-star experience if not for the confusion with the waiting list. The ramen is absolutely worth trying, but understanding how their queue system works will save you from a potentially frustrating experience.

Different than tonkatsu ramen in terms of the broth is lighter but still has that distinct pork taste. It isn't overly salty- just right so the broth is sippable and I enjoyed the ramen. (They also have a cold vegan ramen) I waited until I tried all three of the warm vegan ramens to post this review. Each one has a different broth but all are topped with charred fresh vegetables that remain crisp yet melt in your mouth. Mmmmm! Love that they have eggplant and kambocha, simply brilliant! And the noodles are medium with a slight curl. They have great texture and a bouncy bite. But let's get to the broths. The first one I tried was the clear broth. It was light yet complex, fresh yet savory. The next one was the tan tan. It was creamy and nutty, rich but not gritty (like some tan tan ramens). The last one was the tomato broth, so unique and distinct. It was tangy yet sweet and aromatic. (note: they serve this with a shaker of Parmesan cheese to use as a topping, makes culinary sense, but I also don't consume dairy so passed on the topping). Now you're probably wondering which was my favorite. I don't have one. They are all different and delicious! No complaints. Only praise for three impeccably crafted dishes cooked with care. I adore that I can come back and eat whatever suits my flavor fancy. They also serve a vegan karaage. Crunchy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside but enough texture to make it feel 'meaty.' They do a great job with this dish serving it with a small salad tossed lightly with a goma-ish dressing. There is also a side sweet chili dipping sauce. I also am in love with their chips. Seems like a quirky item for a ramen menu but once you have it you realize how much sense it makes. Cut thin like air, the potatoes are cooked to golden perfection and sprinkled with Himalayan sea salt. It's a great crunchy starter before a bowl of warm sumptuous ramen and something other than your typical gyoza... Speaking of gyoza, they don't have a vegan option but my hubby tried it and always orders a side. They have options with cheese and garlic toppings too. Hubby has also tried their tonkatsu and shoyu ramen and slurped it ALL up. He was especially impressed with the shoyu ramen. All this deliciousness is enjoyed in an air-conditioned restaurant with an industrial steam-punk vibe. High and low tables accommodates seating for couples to groups. They also have a lovely lanai if you prefer eating outside. Street metered parking is easy to find, and they also have validated parking in the small lot. Junpuu is right across the Blaisdell Center so it is a great option if you're there for a fair, concert, or other event. The servers are courteous and efficient, and I give their playlist 5 plus stars. I usually find myself tapping my feet or humming along to the well-curated songs, classic and retro. If you are Gen-X you will totally understand! I came to Junpuu looking for a warm vegan ramen, I found three. And I'll keep coming back and rotating through their stellar selection of amazingly tasty noodle soups. Well, that and the karaage and chips. If you are vegan or vegetarian this is a MUST-try place. But you don't have to be to enjoy the bowls of culinary comfort that comes out of the kitchen of Junpuu.

Seriously, I still had ramen and char sui in my bowl. Let me finish!!!. It felt like they they were trying to rush us and mind you it wasn't busy at all. To add to it, when did they start automatically adding 15% gratitude for a party of 2. I get if its a big party but for 2 or even if by yourself is unbelievable. Save yourself the trouble and eat at another ramen spot. There is a few good ones around ala moana area or in the food court as well.

The price of the weekly lunch special with udon is amazing! THEY HAVE KAMA'AINA DISCOUNTS!!! The combo came with a regular size udon ( i believe there were three choices ), sukiyaki beef rice, and a side of cucumber salad. For $16!!! You can get it at that price from opening ti'll 5pm! The sukiyaki beef udon was spectacular! Our server recommended it and all I can say is that it's a must try! The interior of the store is really pretty. Lots of wood accents and love how the kitchen overlooks the store!

This was my second time here. I first came about five years ago not long after they opened, and I…read moreactually think it was better back then. We came for lunch, and while the service was pretty slow, the food was decent overall. I ordered the Hamachi Jalapeño and Seared Garlic Salmon hand rolls, and the Seared Garlic Salmon was easily my favorite. I'd definitely order that again. We also tried the scallop special, which was prepared with miso butter, mushrooms, and spinach. It was packed with umami and ended up being everyone's favorite dish at the table. The shishito peppers were my personal favorite. They came with an incredible sauce that I kept going back for. They were actually my boyfriend's order, but I somehow ended up eating most of them. We also shared the Wagyu Shabu Udon, which was decent, and the $9 house hot sake during happy hour, though the pour was pretty small. Overall, it's a decent spot with a few standout dishes, but I don't think it's quite as good as I remember it being years ago. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but if you're in the area, it's worth checking out.
