Easy location in Kahala Mall next to the theaters. Ample tables-chairs and an oval ramen bar seating set up. I was welcomed in and sat by the oval seating area since all the tables were occupied. Menus are easy to read with their accompanying picture. Lots of new menu items like their fish balls and it seems their truffle ramen is now an established menu item. I like that there is a myriad of topping and add-ons ranging from meats, mushrooms, veggies and extra sauces. Also, one can request heat levels for their multiple soup bases. The service is quick and to the point. The size of their ramen in their orange bowls satisfies Mr Bland. I took my leftovers home. I also added on their chicken curry and rice for $7.99 and it's delicious. I took that home, too. They have beer and desserts. A dependable and comfortable restaurant to enjoy this type of comfort food.

We can always count on a good bowl of ramen and fried gyoza at Goma Tei. The location is easy with plenty of mall parking, the service is friendly, there's a lot of seating, and you can walk off your meal and shop afterwards. Choose your broth, you can add a large variety of sides but try not to get too distracted with the extensive menu. So many (good) options!

Located in Kahala Mall right next to the movie theaters, it's busy but service is fast and there's ample seating with both counter and table options. A little after lunch time around 1:30PM, my friend and I only waited a few minutes to be seated on a Saturday. We ordered the Fish Dumplings in Hot and Sour Soup and Tan Tan Ramen with an Ajitama (Marinated Soft Boiled Egg). Both of the broths were delicious! A little salty, but lots of umami! Hot and sour soup is not for everyone since it is quite vinegary (I love vinegar!), but if you're struggling to pick from the large menu, I definitely recommend the Tan Tan soup! I also recommend adding an Ajitama because the egg is cooked to perfection with a jammy yolk and goes perfectly with ramen! The Fish Dumplings were okay, nothing amazing. Gomatei probably won't blow your mind, but their broths are flavorful and it's reasonably priced. I've seen a line before so probably go a little before or after lunch time to avoid the wait.

Tried to take the most photogenic photo I could, promise. Wanting to try something a little different, I got Gome-Tei's new Miso Wakame Ramen. It had a very flavorful broth, much closer to a traditional shoyu-miso ramen you'd get in Japan. The broth also contained bits of mushroom, which I enjoyed throughly. But I do prefer the Wakame Tan-Tan. I would try it if it's available though! I hope they continue to do more miso based dishes. Service was good, tables were clean, and the food came out fast. I shall be back :)

We started date night at this place for dinner. There was a wait list when we arrived. We waited about five minutes before getting seated. They have limited tables, so we were fine sitting at the one long table that's shared with others. We ordered a seafood tan tan ramen $19.50, curry udon noodle $14.95 and goma wings $10.50. I also got a soft poached egg in my noodles $2.25. The seafood ramen came with just overcooked shrimp and the fluffy type calamari, which is not my preference. The broth was on the salty side. The curry udon was good. The curry was the perfect consistency and the udon had a nice chew. The goma wings were the best. It was marinated and fried to a crisp. It came with five pieces. The food did come out relatively quickly and the service was on point.

First Lunch for 2026! We decided to come here for lunch then go to watch Avatar Fire and Ash. The menu has plenty new good food options to choose from which is good. The service is friendly and fast. The food came out very soon after and the food is consistently the same which is a good thing. Ambiance is casual and comfortable. We will be back again.

Service was prompt and efficient. We both ordered the shoyu char siu ramen and shared the gyoza. Dinner was good as always!!

Goma Tei, Goma Tei, Goma Tei...eh This review is based on the Tan Tan Ramen and my experience on 10/18/25. I haven't been here for about a year but after going last night, I can't help but think to myself that the Tan Tan Ramen had more flavor before. Something wasn't right. It tasted watered down and fell short of boldness. I wanted to get appetizers but $10.50 for gyoza just doesn't work for me. Sorry, I'm kinda cheap. I don't want to spend upwards of $40-$50 for dinner. They should introduce a happy hour special. The service was very fast and the staff were very polite. I appreciate the counter seating for a quick dining experience, especially for two people. Overall, people seem to love it here. The ramen is decent but I would prefer spending my money at a genuine Japanese ramen establishment. Also, the 3% credit surcharge is bonkers.

They still have a very flavorful tan tan ramen. This time I tried it with won ton (shrimp and pork, and there's also a new fish won ton). Fast and friendly service as always in a clean environment.

Located by the movie theaters in Kahala Mall. Great spot to have lunch or dinner. U shaped seating area for individuals and table seating for 2 or more. They have a wide variety of flavor, proteins, broths and teas. The 2 gentleman workers kept up well with the lunch crowd that filled all of the tables. A safe, easy and tasty bet to fuel your shopping or working needs.

    Shoyu Ramen

This place is located in the Kahala mall near the movie theater. It was my first time to try the won ton shoyu ramen. I would give it 3/5. The won ton was so so and it did not impress me much. My husband has his usual tan tan and he enjoyed it 4/5. I had taken one star off because the restaurant was not kept tidy. There's a lot of carton boxes which are prone to cockroaches and they're near the kitchen. I would rather not see those boxes around.

Fish dumpling hot and sour soup with noodles. Spicy cilantro and vinegar broth was tasty. Dumplings ok.

You can also order your food through a QR code and pay online when you're done. There are also restrooms onsite. Parking is still small and can fill up when it's busy (you also aren't allowed to park in the Church parking lot) If you haven't eaten here before, I would suggest looking on their website at the waitlist to see how many people are on there prior to going there as they can get really busy. You can also put your name on the waitlist online so you don't have to do it on site. They have a really good text messaging system letting you know when your table is almost ready.

Overall, the ramen was very good, but I want to share an important tip about their waiting system so others don't get caught off guard. When your name gets close to the top of the list, do NOT wander away. They will call your name three times, and if you're not standing there, they'll cross your name off immediately. What surprised me was that they start calling names before the current customers have even finished eating or paid their bill. I had made eye contact with the host, pointed to my name and party size, and he acknowledged me. There were still people sitting at the counter eating, and it looked like it would be another 10-15 minutes before seats opened up. I stepped away briefly and came back, only to find my name had already been crossed off the list. The party that was supposedly leaving hadn't even paid yet and was still sitting in their seats. When I explained the situation, the host simply said, "Sorry, your time passed already. I called your name three times." Their sign says they will wait 3 minutes, but in our case it felt more like they called the name three times in quick succession and then removed it. Thankfully, after some discussion, he agreed to seat us anyway. So my advice: once your name is within a couple spots of being called, stay close and pay attention. As for the food, we ordered the Oxtail Ramen (spicy) and the Cashew Pork Ramen. The ramen itself was excellent. The oxtail was tender, although it didn't have a lot of flavor on its own in the soup. They provide a separate bowl with ginger and what appeared to be a ponzu-based sauce, and the intended way to eat it is to remove the oxtail from the soup and dip it into the sauce. That definitely enhanced the flavor. The restaurant is set up with bar-style seating in a half-oval arrangement. Your party will be seated shoulder-to-shoulder, and guests will be sitting directly across from you on the other side of the counter. I'd estimate there are about 25 seats total. Service is efficient, food comes out quickly, and most customers finish and leave fairly fast. For reference, we arrived at 8:38 PM on a Tuesday with 17 people ahead of us. We were seated around 9:15 PM, our food arrived by about 9:30 PM, and we left around 10:00 PM. Overall, this would have been a 5-star experience if not for the confusion with the waiting list. The ramen is absolutely worth trying, but understanding how their queue system works will save you from a potentially frustrating experience.

(They also have a cold vegan ramen) I waited until I tried all three of the warm vegan ramens to post this review. Each one has a different broth but all are topped with charred fresh vegetables that remain crisp yet melt in your mouth. Mmmmm! Love that they have eggplant and kambocha, simply brilliant! And the noodles are medium with a slight curl. They have great texture and a bouncy bite. But let's get to the broths. The first one I tried was the clear broth. It was light yet complex, fresh yet savory. The next one was the tan tan. It was creamy and nutty, rich but not gritty (like some tan tan ramens). The last one was the tomato broth, so unique and distinct. It was tangy yet sweet and aromatic. (note: they serve this with a shaker of Parmesan cheese to use as a topping, makes culinary sense, but I also don't consume dairy so passed on the topping). Now you're probably wondering which was my favorite. I don't have one. They are all different and delicious! No complaints. Only praise for three impeccably crafted dishes cooked with care. I adore that I can come back and eat whatever suits my flavor fancy. They also serve a vegan karaage. Crunchy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside but enough texture to make it feel 'meaty.' They do a great job with this dish serving it with a small salad tossed lightly with a goma-ish dressing. There is also a side sweet chili dipping sauce. I also am in love with their chips. Seems like a quirky item for a ramen menu but once you have it you realize how much sense it makes. Cut thin like air, the potatoes are cooked to golden perfection and sprinkled with Himalayan sea salt. It's a great crunchy starter before a bowl of warm sumptuous ramen and something other than your typical gyoza... Speaking of gyoza, they don't have a vegan option but my hubby tried it and always orders a side. They have options with cheese and garlic toppings too. Hubby has also tried their tonkatsu and shoyu ramen and slurped it ALL up. He was especially impressed with the shoyu ramen. All this deliciousness is enjoyed in an air-conditioned restaurant with an industrial steam-punk vibe. High and low tables accommodates seating for couples to groups. They also have a lovely lanai if you prefer eating outside. Street metered parking is easy to find, and they also have validated parking in the small lot. Junpuu is right across the Blaisdell Center so it is a great option if you're there for a fair, concert, or other event. The servers are courteous and efficient, and I give their playlist 5 plus stars. I usually find myself tapping my feet or humming along to the well-curated songs, classic and retro. If you are Gen-X you will totally understand! I came to Junpuu looking for a warm vegan ramen, I found three. And I'll keep coming back and rotating through their stellar selection of amazingly tasty noodle soups. Well, that and the karaage and chips. If you are vegan or vegetarian this is a MUST-try place.
