Three words: Pork Cutlet Curry. That's all I need in this life. I hope they stay in business forever because I can't stand the idea of not being able to come to Ono-ya to grab this dish. The food was definitely a hit. Not everything hit it out of the park, but the main players definitely made an impact. The appetizers were a hit or miss. I know that they seemed to be a bit short staffed, I just wish the execution was a little better. There were at least 2 tables of two that came right after we were seated; but by the time our orders were taken, those two tables already received their food. I was turned off by that, but was not going to let that negatively affect my dining experience. The ambience was bustling, and the energy was high. There were only two servers, and they tried their best, I just wish there was another server or two to allow for the patrons to get the full experience. Other than that, the food was great. No reservations needed. Overall the noddle soup was warm not as hot as I would have expected Good noodles. But one bowl of noodles was a bit clumped together not fully separated. Needed to be cooked a bit longer Garlic chips added texture but they did taste a bit burned. This is just the Spicy Miso Tonkotsu Ramen. Oh wow! This was the only ramen I tried so far here, but it's really delicious. The pork was thick and flavorful. Might be my favorite one so far as of now!! Broth was creamy and flavorful. But spicy! I might tone down the spice if I can next time. But it was really good. IMO, The eggs can prob use more flavor. I like my eggs where It really takes in the marinade while still being jammy. But good enough. Noodles are sun noodles I think. This is a great spot for ramen. The restaurant is a little small, but I kinda prefer it that way. The staff is very friendly and helpful when ordering. The ramen is always cooked perfectly, and the egg is always just soft enough and a little runny how I like it. It's a great place to come when craving warm ramen. There are half-destroyed chairs everywhere near the entrance and the dining room and kitchen are a mess too. Wet grossness all over the kitchen floor, a visibly dirty mop bucket, a dirty soup pot on the floor, serving stand is super dirty, the employee uniforms are dirty, etc. Also, one of the walls is falling apart. But I have POTS and needed to eat. My bowl came slightly dirty. My ramen tasted off (especially the broth) but I ate most of it because I needed food. I couldn't finish the noodles, though. Onoya was offering a BOGO ramen special this week from Wed-Fri to celebrate their 5th anniversary, so we braved the pouring rain and flood conditions to come for lunch. It was a good thing I used the Yelp app to join their waitlist, because it seemed like half the people in the area decided to come here for lunch. It was a 25-40 minute wait online, so the timing was perfect for the drive from Manoa. There were at last 10 people already there waiting, but at least the tables were turning petty quickly. We were seated right away and could tell the vibe was that it was a super busy day. We put in our orders and were served within 5-6 minutes. A couple of Classic ramen, a Black ramen, a Tan tan ramen, a pitch of beer, gyoza, and takoyaki. The ramen was piping hot, creamy, and so satisfying good. They're were 3 of is, so the 4th one was to split between us; but we ended up taking most of it home, along with the extra broth. We found this cute ramen spot on the way to Diamond head and it was a slam dunk. They had an awesome lunch deal for 19$. A ramen, gyoza, and a small curry bowl. You can't find that anywhere out here. They have kids ramen sets for like 10$ that are perfect for the little ones. Lots of parking and a zippy's across the street if you wanted to grab some plates to go before heading to DH. I would give it, 5 stars but, in an empty restaurant with just me sitting there, a party of 7 came. Our waitress came to take our order and when asked what spice level I wanted for my spicy miso order, I asked "how spicy would you say medium is?". The server rolled her eyes and rudely said "how can you ask that? It's MEDIUM.". What the heck? First of all, not all restos spice levels are equal. Especially asian eateries. I've asked this question before at other restos when there are spice levels and wait staff have always been able to provide something to relate the level to, like it's on par with Sriracha sauce etc. This lady was so disrespectful and acted like I asked her something outrageous. Her attitude was extremely off-putting and totally unnecessary. She could have been polite about it. When I tried explaining that I just wanted to know if the general consensus here is that the medium is still very spicy or tolerable, she continued to respond aggressively, intentionally making me feel dumb for even asking. I really wanted to walk out but the kid was hungry so I stayed put despite her piss poor demeanor. My spicy miso ramen was good - nice al dente ramen noods with a nice chew, tender/flavorful chasu pork and spice level that was almost too spicy for my taste, but overall very solid. Husband and son enjoyed their bowls as well. Despite my ramen being tasty, our waitress with the terrible attitude left me wishing we hadn't come. Listen, if you don't want to answer questions from your customers, maybe you shouldn't be working the front of house and should stick to the back. The miso flavor was subtle, but there was a good amount of chili oil that added a nice kick. The egg was perfectly runny and flavorful. I did wish there were more toppings and noodles for the price. I was still a bit hungry after finishing my bowl. There were only two pieces of pork chunks, not even slices, and the toppings were fairly limited. Overall, it was a decent spot. I haven't gone to Onoya since they were at Shirokiya. I've heard good things about this place so I decided to give it a go. Part of the problem of not going there was the lack of parking. As soon as I got there, there were 2 cars stuck - neither one wanting to move. After persuading one of them to move, I was able to get a parking right in front of Onoya! Amazing! That part over with, we went inside to look forward to ramen and other dishes. We ordered calamari, agedashi tofu and gyoza. The calamari and gyoza came out so fast.... it was a little worrisome. Both looked dry. The calamari was ok despite it looking dry but the gyoza really suffered. It was dry inside and outside. It tasted ok, but I doubt this is what it was supposed to taste like. The agedashi tofu was good. The sauce was a little vinegary, but good. My ramen looked great and they cooked the noodles perfectly - I asked for firm. The egg was overcooked and didn't have much taste. The broth was great and the choy sum and menma was good. What was outstanding was the chicken pieces in there. It was very, very tender and tasted great. That was the outstanding part of this ramen. All in all, a good bowl of ramen. read more

The noodles are chewy, and the toppings are always generous. The popcorn chicken is crazy ono. So crispy and better than the chicken karaage. I tried Onoya Ramen and overall had a really good experience. The appetizers were solid, and I especially liked the tuna crispy rice sushi, although the rice was a bit too hard for my liking. The spicy tonkotsu ramen was the highlight for me. The broth was super rich and delicious, full of flavor, and definitely something I would come back for.
