This place is solid. It's not 100% authentic but it's also much more healthy and fresh than I expected. It feels like an idealistic college student who loves the movie Amelie went to France and decided to bring their doey-eyed experience back to the states. Everything about the location is fun, clean, bright, and open (versus the reality of tightly packed, dimly lit, and sometimes gritty cafes in France). The food is consistent, very fresh, with customizable and healthy options, like buckwheat flour, fresh vegetables, and lemon honey instead of sugar. Even the basement bathroom has that vibe, from bright colors in the "underground cave" seating to beautiful framed photos/posters and thematic wallpaper, to the way too clean, way too spacious restrooms with full sized changing tables! The first time I came here I would give this place a five star. I was raving about it to my friends and wanted to take my boyfriend. Unfortunately when we came here today server was rude, clearly hated his job. We got the crepes and they it was obvious they made them hastily. My boyfriends bacon was RAW and and his eggs were RAW too. I saw the uncooked watery white part of the egg it slip out of he's crepe. And he had to pull out some very light pink chewy pieces of uncooked bacon. I had originally asked for an egg, cheese, and tomatoe crepe and they tried to charge $17.50!!! $3 more than a ham, egg, and cheese. An egg and cheese was $15 -- still more than a ham egg and cheese. I have walked by this place so many times and have always wanted to visit. Today I did and it was honestly the highlight of day. Immediately the staff greets you warmly with a big smile. Service was wonderful. Lots of options for crepes but not an overwhelming menu. I had Grandma's Raspberry Jam crepes with strawberries and dark chocolate. This little quaint place is a gem. A friend and I stumbled upon it while looking for lunch working on Madison Avenue. The staff is very welcoming which is rare in that area and the eatery is very comfortable and cozy. They have a large variety of crepes and will allow you to customize one of required. Excellent iced tea and the crepes are to die for. Quite expensive but then again so is McDonald's. It's worth every penny. The best thing is that you leave full but not bloated. When I got home, I realized that the odor of eggs had infused my hair and clothing. Not exactly an experience that I wanted to carry with me...If your preferred perfume has an eggy (not "edgy") scent, and you crave omelette-type crepes, you're in luck.
