I just stumbled into this Upper West Side restaurant for breakfast after watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade live on Central Park West. A sea of people descended on the area after the parade and I was lucky enough to finagle a spot at the bar that they had not been using since they had menus and stuff there. But I got the hostess the ask her manager about it and they obliged me. I had a delicious Bloody Mary and and Eggs Benedict which came with rocket greens instead of potatoes. Afterward I had a double cappuccino. The poached eggs in my dish were a little overcooked and not runny but the flavor was great and I was starving. Also the place was packed to the gills with a line out the door so the cooking staff must have been swamped. The staff were great and the place was nicely appointed. The ambience and staff were pleasant, but unfortunately the food has really declined. This used to be a spot I would recommend for a classic brunch experience. We ordered the blueberry popovers, which arrived raw and doughy in the center. I ordered an egg dish that came with a popover, and that one was also undercooked. My husband ordered the French toast, and two of the pieces were similarly underdone. I asked about the blueberry popovers, and our server agreed they should not be that way and offered to remake them. By the time the new ones were ready, the rest of our food had arrived, so I asked for them to be packaged to go. I also had him take away the additional popover from my entrée and told him it did not need to be remade. We did not even mention the issue with the French toast. Given the multiple items that were undercooked, I was surprised to see that everything was still fully charged. I would have expected at least the initial appetizer, which we could not eat, to be removed or for us to be given the option to decline a remake. read more

I order the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict and the "special" Creme Brûlée French Toast. The french toast lacked any sort of Creme Brûlée, I think they just slapped that term on it to seem more appealing but nothing of it resembled. That doesn't mean it wasn't good though, I found it tasty nothing spectacular. My eggs benedict severely lacked salmon, it had very thin little shreds of salmon, but also that doesn't mean it was bad. Just inaccurately priced as $27. I think overall, it is overpriced for the quality of food you're getting. In reality, I think all of the meals were overpriced, when you look at it, it's just eggs and arugula on both plates, and no sides for the "Creme Brulee" french toast. Besides the overpriced food, the ambience was somehow worse. We were sat outside in the corner on a slanted surface. The table was unsteady and shaking our plates and glasses, our chairs were also unsteady. Mine, moreover was constantly being hit by the person behind me, I barely had room. Every time someone got up or left behind me I would have to get up from my seat and move out of the way. I think if you are going to attempt outdoor seating, at least space the seats out well and don't set up flat chairs and table on a slanted surface. However, what I will say is the service was excellent. Our server was kind and attentive, the only mishap was when one of the servers poured tap into my cup when we ordered still, but I didn't mind. I love a local spot, it is a chain in the City. I came here because they offered popovers and they're one of my favorite things to eat. I was disappointed with the staff. It was our first time here and our eyes are always bigger than our stomach so we wanted to make sure we ordered appropriately. When asking about the wild mushroom popover our waiter told us it was one popover with small mushrooms inside it. So we ordered the popover, lemon ricotta pancakes, the quiche and a side of pork and apricot sausage. IT WAS TOO MUCH FOR TWO PEOPLE Our waiter even made a little "oh okay" noise after we ordered, but we weren't sure why until all the food came. Loved the mushroom popover - it's a EGG scramble and totally misrepresented by the waiter, the popover was just okay. The lemon ricotta pancakes were good. I loved the side salads that accompanied both the popover and the quiche. My friends and I stopped in for brunch on a bright Saturday morning. It wasn't too cold outside and since we didn't make reservations ahead of time, they told us that it was either about an hour wait or we could sit outside. There were heaters so we took the chance. It wasn't bad. We kept our coats on but the heaters worked great! I ordered coffee and water to start and then decided to add a mimosa a little later. Our waitress was very gracious and had expressed no complaints on my additional beverage order. I got the farmer's omelet (leeks, ham, potato, guyere). Delicious! I have never had an omelet prepared so delicately and with so much flavor. I am normally opposed to ordering an omelet when somewhere unfamiliar for fear of getting a rubbery or odd textured one but I'm glad I did. The portion was also huge! I ate half. I was too full to eat any more and was sad to leave the other half behind. My order also came with a small serving of greens tossed in vinaigrette and a wonderfully baked muffin. So while people might think $21 is steep for an omelet, it comes with 2 other sides making it actually reasonable. My one friend ordered the quiche. She thought it would be a tiny quiche but it was actually large. She also did not finish. She ordered a side of their pork and apricot sausages ($10 for three large sausages). She shared and wow, they were absolutely to die for! Our other friend ordered the steak Benedict. It looked very tantalizing. I could tell he enjoyed it a lot. I was quite pleased with our visit here that we almost went back another morning but alas, we had other agenda that didn't quite work as well to factor in another stop. As a lifelong Upper Westsider I'm always walking around the neighborhood to see what's new and what I've missed and I've passed by this spot a few times and it wasn't until I saw some pics of their food here on yelp that I figured I'd definitely give them a try. We were sat at our table and took a look at what they had to offer on their Brunch menu and they had a pretty wide selection, so we decided on the Ricota/Lemon pancakes and some eggs. There's no option to simply add 2 eggs as a side to your pancake order that I saw on the menu, so we purchased an egg plate and the pancake plate. The stack of 5 Pancakes were about $23 bucks and the egg platter was about the same.. so for pancakes and eggs you're talking about $47-$50 bucks. I know... Was it worth it? Hmmmm.. Well.. The pancakes were good.. had the ricotta inside.. was good but they didn't blow our mind and not worth $23 bucks especially with no sides.. The eggs were perfect.. Fluffy and tasty.. But for $23 bucks.. I dunno.. Not really.. I'd rather an alternative side of 2-3 eggs with the pancakes. In any case, spot was cool, busy, good food but I'm not too sure I'll go back..
