    Nutella iced mocha (daily special)
    Adrienne D.

I hesitate to write this review because I love that I got there at 11am on a Saturday (peak brunch time) and I had my choice of table, but this place is FANTASTIC. When this place gets crazy busy, it'll suck for me, but they totally deserve it. The menu had so many interesting and delicious-sounding things that I want to try! I ended up getting the corned beef hash skillet and a daily special iced latte. My husband got the daily special BLT and a regular coffee. I'm kind of a corned beef hash snob. I LOVE a good corned beef hash, but I'm also easily disappointed. If you don't care about corned beef hash, feel free to skip the next section. This was the most flavorful corned beef hash I've ever had. And if that wasn't enough, it came with 3 "soft" (poached) eggs (my ideal accompaniment), a little fresh salad (arugula? -not sure, I ate it too fast, along with a homemade dressing), and what I now know has been missing from this dish all my life - avocado! This is the kind of dish that I kind of hate eating when I go to a restaurant for the first time. It's so damn good that I know I'm going to want to get it the next time I go. But the menu has so many other delicious sounding things that I also want to try so I'm going to be so conflicted. But that's a problem for another time! Anyhow, my ridiculous Nutella iced mocha was exactly as delicious as I had hoped. Not overly sweet either. My husband's coffee was actually QUALITY coffee- not that watered down facsimile for coffee that you often encounter at breakfast joints. His BLT was thick with thick sliced bacon, and very flavorful. After one bite, he declared, "______ is out!" (referencing our previous regular breakfast spot). Yep, it's true. This place leaves the other ones in the dust. I'm looking forward to many more delicious meals here. I'm fully expecting this place to blow up once people know about it so I suggest you go now while they're still relatively unknown. It was SO good. And I should also mention the vibe in there is cute and cozy. And the staff were all super friendly.

Don't wait to try Daily Slate!!! We went this morning for the first time and it did NOT disappoint. Food was delicious and they brought everything out so quickly. They were even so considerate of my little one and brought her food first we got the French omelette, chilaquiles, fresh fruit and a pancake for my little. The pao de queijo with jam (not pictured) was to die for!!!

Update: came back a week later and got the corn beef hash skillet. Perfectly poached eggs. Food coma Saturday again!

Warning! Now under new ownership. They don't toast their bread or put cheese in their omelettes.

My go-to has always been the salad with seared scalping a raspberry dressing. No longer on the menu. However, we're always looking for different takes on a vegetarian burger, including Impossible and Beyond. We both were in the mood for a burger and they have the Impossible burger on the menu so we were in luck, or were we? Backup to the arrival. The main bar area was very busy and unfortunately no seats available. So, we were seated in the back which is a very nice and more formal and original part of the house. Totally empty we were seated in front of a fake (non-heat producing) fire, decent ambiance, but it was cold and silent in there. We don't mind the silent part but the temperature was not good. It took a long time before someone came back with menus and a greeting, but we knew what we wanted to order. Two Impossible burgers please. No such luck. "We don't have them anymore", we were told. "Revamping the menu. Don't worry, there will be plenty of vegetarian choices", we were told. How about tonight? We needed to take some time with the menu and there were very limited choices. I decided on the special, asparagus risotto with grilled salmon. My wife didn't really want anything on the menu but settled on the veggie flatbread. The risotto was quite good. The salmon was slightly overcooked but still very good. The three 1/4 stalks of asparagus were good, too, but they could've been a bit more generous with the veggie. The flatbread was a big disappointment. The menu says it is topped with artichokes, spinach, onions, red peppers and mushrooms. We nixed the mushrooms. You can see in the picture that there were no artichokes and no red peppers. There were a ton of tomatoes (not listed) and black olives, which would've been ok had it been for me, but my wife doesn't eat black olives. There were only 4 pieces of spinach. So, after removing them, there really wasn't much left to eat. She wasn't happy. I guess we should've done what the gentleman in the hidden dining room next to where we were seated did, order Chinese food to be delivered!

I don't know what happened but it happened. When my mother was alive, I would come here with family and we always got good meals, but it WAS really slow service. I actually liked the place. However, it was a small kitchen. I took a couple kitchen shifts here and saw how badly it was running. Lots of cross contamination and inadequate food preparation. Supplies were kept in the basement and I got myself locked in the walk in refrigerator once, had to kick it open like I was doing a law enforcement raid just to get out. Meat slicer was unmaintained being that it was one of those automatic ones, it would literally take your fingers off. Huge liability. God forbid you work in the kitchen here or as a hostess, the language barrier was significant. I hate leaving bad reviews on businesses, but this place was in disarray and completeley unsanitary. I liked it when I was a customer, and many other people I've been there with did as well. The food was actually good, but you can't unsee stuff you've seen and this place HAD to go under. The bar kept the business alive, but there were plenty of flaw there too.

Let me tell you, every time I passed this place, I was missing out. This breakfast spot brings me back to the good ole days when my grandparents and I would get breakfast together - this place is comforting and is the perfect disconnect from this crazy world. They have some of the most delicious pancakes I've ever had, especially the Cinnamon Swirl, they are a must try! Amazing loaded home fries and omelettes, all at a great price. I'm not sure if it was the owner, but she came around about 3 times to refill coffee, very attentive. Our waitress came around to check up often as well. I ordered the 2x2x2 Meal, I chose Over Medium Eggs with Pork Bacon, delicious. I ended up upgrading from French Toast to Texas-Style French Toast. I 'd recommend to stick with their OG style French Toast. Considering the bread I upgraded to being a thicker style, it seems like they did not dip the bread long enough in the mix since the middle was very dry. It felt welcoming and overall I enjoyed my experience!

It's very rare to find a place that does this. I was excitedand ordered two grinders. One was the Lucky Luciano and the other was the Sicilian. The. Lucky Luciano is a vegetable base with provolone cheese. It was thinly sliced provolone cheese, two slices on the entire grinder. Unfortunately, due to the marinated mushrooms and marinated eggplant. The bread was pretty soaked. I think if they used more cheese as a barrier, this sandwich could've been better. The Sicilian is basically an eggplant Parmesan. I did not care for this in Parmesan however it is edible. The eggplant was sliced, extremely thin that you could barely taste it. Instead of using melted mozzarella, there was one hunk of fresh mozzarella on the sandwich. I did feel that the prices were pretty expensive however, I probably would try the vegetable sandwich again if I eat it in person and ask them to put extra provolone around the bread . A lot of the reviews people love it here so I might try some other sandwiches however I don't eat meat so these were the two sandwiches I was interested in.
