We did the murder without a clue game for a virtual event with my college, and they were great! The acting was superb and the storyline was very interesting. I love murder mystery games, and I'm always excited to try new companies to see how their stories work. The murder without a clue was very fun, and definitely had some twists in there that lead people off track. Not even all of us Caltech people were able to solve the mystery! Although the game must be much more fun in person, I think the crew members did a great job despite our zoom environment. They kept the conversation rolling throughout the game. We hired Dainty Dames for a Hollywoodland Murder theme 50th birthday party. The event was held inside our house, so we rented tables in view of the television (needed for a portion of the show) and had catering from Maple Block- also outstanding. In preparation, we chose ~10 guests to be assigned acting roles. We were ready to add outdoor seating, but this was not needed - the show does not require a lot of space. The birthday girl also answered a series of questions to personalize the event. We emphasized punctuality and dress code on the invitation. The owners were very responsive by email and also accommodated a phone call with us to confirm details before the big day. Our 30 guests (adults + two teenagers) were welcomed by the actors in character and enjoyed charcuterie while finding their assigned seats. The three actors did a fabulous job engaging our guests and moving the story along. We stopped for dinner and cake at separate times during the evening, and of course, enjoyed the meal along with the actors. While theater is most definitely not the forte of the birthday girl, she loves history, crime shows, and puzzle/problem solving. The actors made sure that everyone felt included and had fun - and a few guests surprised us with how serious they were about their performance. We were intentional to not learn much about the true crime story behind our murder mystery in advance, but afterward, we shared with our guests the whole fascinating backstory/podcast associated with the black dahlia. We hired the Dainty Dames to run an outdoor murder mystery show for our teenage daughter's birthday. The two actors arrived at our place early and set up their equipment, including placing props and hiding clues around the outside of our property. They were both incredibly friendly, and played their parts the entire night. I've been to a murder mystery dinner before and remembered having a great time, so I really wanted to bring my boyfriend to one of these. I was curious about trying another company and came across the Dainty Dames. Personally, I enjoyed this one far more because of the amount of involvement that we get to have along with the amount of acting from the actors there were. It was such a great time and I know that I will be coming to another of their shows again- this time probably with his parents! The actors were so much fun, and definitely stayed in character for the whole 2-3 hours- kudos to them!! That is truly difficult to do, even as a professional. If you enjoy mysteries, some drama, and solving clues, then this is perfect. I don't want to give too much away, but it is definitely worth. Food-wise, it was a course meal starting with a bread basket & butter, salad (and choice of two dressings), an entree (chicken or steak that came with steamed veggies and mashed potatoes), and dessert with coffee. I wasn't that impressed by the salad or chicken, but that's on Marriott and I mean I didn't expect much anyways. We are there more for the show. Though I loved the cake and coffee at the end. Personally, I would like to add a comment that giving a good tip is worth because the venue cost, logistics cost, paying the actors cost, food cost, having a photographer, time, and not to mention that Groupon takes a commission from sales...it all really adds up. I bought a gift certificate to Dainty Dames for my boyfriend's birthday and it turned out to be the best present ever if I do say so myself. This was SUCH a fun night and the best murder mystery dinner I've ever been to. I'd gone to a couple other mystery dinners previously where there was no audience participation; you just sat and watched the somewhat boring and convoluted story lines performed by just so-so actors. Not the case at all here. As soon as you walk in they draw you into the scene, the actors/characters making fun and funny conversation with the arriving guests, making you feel like you're in the story with them. Then someone at each table is designated to be a character in the story and a murder suspect. These "suspects" really got into their roles with cheesy accents, accusations and denials, rivalries and flirtations. My boyfriend was "Chef Bolognese" and had a great time with the Italian accent and his role. Throughout the night you and everyone at your table are a team, competing against other tables in various little competitions, riddles and treasure hunts as the story unfolds. The competitions are fun and funny and get everyone involved... they had everyone in the room cracking up at times. The murder mystery itself was well done - complex enough to be a challenge but not so tough that it's impossible to solve. I probably would have never solved it on my own (I'm no Nance Drew and even less so after several mojitos) but our table pieced it all together with some of our sharper teammates picking up on some great clues and tying everything together. Another difference that struck me in the overall performance and feel of the night was that it catered to a wide variety of ages. Previous mystery dinners I've been to have seemed to cater mainly to an older crowd and felt a bit outdated, but this one managed to feel new and fresh and witty and fun, but classic at the same time, drawing in younger people and the older generation alike. Overall we had a fantastic time and I can't recommend this experience highly enough. Definitely worth the price of admission. read more

You walk in and everyone is extremely lost and confused because the actors do not give any clear directions. No one knows what to do. The actors put on a lousy performance and there were huge gaps as if they forgot what they were supposed to say. What is worse is that the meat was served completely raw. I asked for the server to please help with the food but was ignored. The business has NO customer service. They respond very rudely and only offer a refund if you don't post a review. Anyone who coordinates their company events (or any event for that matter) understands how many moving parts there are and the importance of getting it right, and Renee, Jillian and their team got it right. We went with their "Hollywoodland Murder" Mystery premiere (w/5 actors) so the night was staged for a 1949 Hollywood red carpet experience, and all 50 of our employees dressed to impress. It was important for us to have an employee team building experience and that's exactly what happened. We were constantly engaged with scavenger hunting for evidence, riddles, clues, and more. We added their photography package to our event, which also didn't disappoint. Dainty Dames Events had a photo prop area/booth setup with backdrop, props, and a touchscreen that emailed, texted, and printed 3x5 photo strips the entire evening. It was a huge success!
