The house band, The Dynasties, are the best live band in the LA comedy scene -- they play hot bitchin jazz, add musical cues for the comics, and will generally make your week better. This is a place that comedians want to hang out. Craig Robinson might show up for a surprise musical set and take requests from the audience while you all sing together. Sarah Silverman might sit on the floor with flash cards of her new jokes and run them by you. Reggie Watts might drop by and crank out some skat poetry and vocalization whimsy. You might hear a live theramin performance, or a rendition of Dolly Parton's Jolene on a musical saw. Not a bad seat in the house, staff are welcoming and friendly. The building is old school opened in 1926 as a Vaudeville house so it's always been entertaining. It's had different iterations over the years, most recently the Hayworth Theatre. Then in 2018 it officially became Dynasty Typerwriter Now the theater is in Westlake, right next to MacArthur Park where many of Los Angeles' unhomed population lives. So yes you can search and find street parking, but if you have a nicer car it may be better to just not risk it and park in the nearby parking garage - 611 S Carondelet Street. Rideshare is ideal though. It's a small theater (200 seats) so if you are hoping for a close up seat to see better or get in on some crowd work, you should arrive when doors open. I am quite the opposite and enjoy a good view, but sitting far outside of the crowd-work arena! Give me a good seat on the side back a few rows and I'm happy. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE crowdwork, just not aimed at me. I've seen Tig Notaro and Marc Maron here - obviously both great shows and I enjoyed them! When you sit in the seat, prepare for a little trip. They glide! haha It's kind of weird but kind of fun that they slide a bit but I see it shocking everyone when they first sit down so prepare yourself. They are the kind of seats that start hurting after sitting for an hour so my fellow ADHD peoples, prepare to do a lot of shifting in your seat. They have good canned beer options, including a couple of NA which is nice. Also full concession stand for snacks, including their special popcorn. Staff is friendly and I always enjoy this venue! I will absolutely be back.

This morning, I stopped briefly in front of The Clubhouse to respond to a text with my dog leashed…read morebeside me. A dog started barking from inside, and then the owner opened the door and asked if I was going to a class. Before I could even respond, the dog came blasting out through the door and tried to attack my dog. The owner then hit his dog and grabbed the dogs collar and started dragging the dog towards the door. When they got back to the front door, the guy asked again if I was taking a class. I told him no, I'm just responding to a text, in a public area and your dog almost attacked mine. He responded "shut up, b*tch". Violent and aggressive behavior across the board.

The Glendale Room is one of my favorite places to perform and watch comedy! The book store /…read morelibrary / scholastic book fair vibe is so much fun!! It's a serene, intimate, well lit spot that makes everyone feel comfortable. The tech always sounds amazing at the Glendale Room. I love performing here because there are always two working microphones. I also love how relaxed and chill everyone that works here is. I think one of my favorite things about watching comedy here is the couch in the back right corner. It's so comfortable I like to sit here to watch and perform. Glendale Room has a ton of open mics for anyone that wants to try stand up for the first couple of times. There are also snacks and drinks available for purchase on the honor system. How trusting! But really, the Glendale Room is a fabulous spot for some weekday or weekend entertainment. Parking is very convenient in the parking garage and every time I've parked- it's been easy. I absolutely love the Glendale Room and can't wait to go again!

GPS had me cutting through Skid Row, and when it said I was close to the venue I thought, "wait.....we really about to party here?!" Thankfully, California Plaza has its own parking structure and once you pull in, everything feels safe and organized. Parking was $10 cash or $17 card at my event. From there it was a breeze, just hop in the elevator straight up to the venue. The DJ stage was beautiful, sound and lighting were amazing, and there were plenty of spots to chill if you needed a break. Bathrooms were clean with plenty of stalls (longest line I waited in was maybe 2 minutes, which is nothing for a packed show). The VIP area looked pretty underwhelming. Personally, I wouldn't bother with VIP tickets here. Overall though, fantastic night, incredible music, and I'd definitely come back for another show!

I've been a Camel Phat fan since the beginning or at least 2018/2019 so to see all their sets go off on You Tube videos then come to this was a little disappointing. Not their fault, just the crowd drowned out the sound. Sometimes the L.A. crowd is such a bummer.
