The service was pretty good. Employees were friendly or cordial. Jessica took our order and was happy to accommodate our special requests. This is a typical Dairy Queen from the '70's but clean and well maintained. It's just like the one I worked at in 1976-78. Portions were generous and the food was the high quality that Dairy Queen always stood for. Thanks for a great experience. We'll be back on our next trip. read more

This DQ has a convenient location and easy to find on the southwest corner of the junction of Hwy. 87 and I-10 and provides a nice place to stop for food if you're on the road. I have family in north Texas near the Oklahoma border and live in the Rio Grande Valley, so when I need to "waltz across Texas" as the song says, I have stopped here on more than one occasion. My few and sporadic visits here have been consistently positive. It's never been crowded when I have stopped by. The service has been good, and the food hot and fresh. This time was no exception. I found the restroom and dining room to be clean. Their prices and menu are the same as all DQs which are popular throughout Texas. Besides burgers and American style tacos, and chicken strips DQ is known for their soft serve ice-cream, ice-cream cakes, shakes, and the Blizzard. If you've never tried the Blizzard, I recommend it. I always get the smallest one which is enough for me. Once my wife and I threw a birthday party for a friend who likes ice-cream cakes, so we got one from the local DQ. It was beautifully made and custom decorated with blue icing, her favorite color. What we didn't realize until we were eating it is the blue icing will temporarily color your teeth and tongue! All of a sudden we were looking at each other with puzzled and astonished expressions as we noticed the ones across the table had sapphire blue teeth and lips... and of course, we all did... the bewilderment turned into laughter as we pointed at each other and checked out our temporary cyan smiles in the mirror... So whether you're looking for a nice pit stop, a cool treat, some vittles or to liven up a party, check them out. read more

First of all I will say the bathroom was clean and fairly well stocked (soap was running low). Ordered our food with no problem. Decent food, not a long wait, there was one other customer Wasn't expecting a free show with our meal but wow! While eating with my family, I hear a woman yelling to another employee to not touch the registers for whatever reason, then she's yelling on the phone " Either you want it or you don't. I don't have time for this. We are very short staffed and busy today". She then puts the customer on hold and tells the employee "can you help her because I don't have time for her today." Then proceeds to yell out "I don't get paid enough for this." Pure comedy if my kids weren't with me but utterly appalling. Then after we leave, she locks the seating area and leaves the restaurant with one person working the drive thru. All I can say is wow! read more

I can't believe other folks gave such negative reviews, it's Dairy Queen, not the Taj Mahal. Staff is always friendly and the ice cream is cold. Burgers, tacos, and chicken strips. Drive thru is quick but I always walk in because I'm dying to know when the bathroom remodel will get finished. It started before we went on vacation a month ago. It looks great but I have know who their contractor is so I don't make the mistake of hiring them. The food was good but we had to wait for a long time to order food with the employees and the manager just walking by and ignoring us. Yes it was a Sunday and it was slow, I am ok with waiting on such a day, but at least greet the customers when they come in. If you need customer service training, I am happy to train your employees and managers that when someone comes in you say Hello, or Good mornings, evening or whatever time of day it is. When the customer has to wait, at least tell them you are sorry because of this or that. Don't just let them stand there like ordered and not picked up. read more

The experience we had was painful! 3 of us stopped off after our lunch for ice cream desserts. We ordered and paid in cash. Well, she didn't have enough change in the till for the twenty given so she had to go ask her manager for some. The manager appeared to be the only one working the kitchen. The manager went into the back for several minutes. Now, I'd have thought since she clearly had more money than needed to cover the order, she'd start preparing it while we all waited on the manager. Nope. She could have helped the mother and little boy waiting behind us. Nope. She chatted with the other woman working the front. Finally after several minutes, I see the manager in the back of the store chatting with someone at a desk and eventually sauntering to the front to give us our change. Absolutely, zero sense of urgency in getting their customers served. It took so long, the mother and son left without ordering. No employee said one word to them. We finally got our change and one by one we got our items. The last taking extra long as they did other things. So long, mine was already partially melted by the time he got his. We had to ask for napkins as there were none out or offered. We sat down at a table. Only two other tables were occupied but there were several left dirty from previous customers. The ice cream was fine. The final ick was as we prepared to leave, we carried our trash to the trash bin. It was turned to block the receptacle opening. There were trays on top full of other diners trash for us to balance ours upon. I'm glad at least that the table we chose didn't have a view of this pile of garbage while we ate. My advice is if you're on I-10, craving fast food or ice cream desserts, keep going east to Boerne or west to Kerrville. You'll probably still get your food faster, including the extra travel time or certainly be less aggravated. read more

Waited in the line for a good 20 minutes, they didn't take my order at the intercom thing. It was still 840. We kept saying hello hello hello but I guess it's a joke to them. Keep driving to the next town! This store had food on dirty tables, bathrooms were stinky and gross, the burger was straight out of the warmer, the cheese wasn't melted and the fries were cold. I stopped at the Dairy Queen off I-10 in Comfort today with another individual. When we tried to order at the takeout window, no one would answer. We both tried for several minutes to get someone to respond, but no one did. Finally we just drove around behind the window to pay in back of another customer. We waited another five minutes and a woman worker came out and angrily stated that we were told to wait and why didn't we wait. We both stated that we repeatedly tried to get someone to respond and no one did. Instead of taking our order, she said they were short on help and angrily walked away. I understand that many places are short on help, but rudeness is not an excuse. Worst operation I have ever witnessed in all of my visits to a fast food restaurant. I ordered at 6:04 PM on a Friday night and received my order only after I sent my 15-year-old inside to retrieve it at 6:29 PM. The other two cars behind me in the drive-through also had to go inside to retrieve their orders. When I complained online, Cynthia Thayer, one of the owners of the restaurant, gave me a whole host of excuses about it being busy on a Friday night. I would never ever visit the store. It greatly delayed my road trip and the McDonald's next door is a much better choice. Keep driving! And the food was.... meh. read more

Bad experience on July 4. Young kids working, ignored us at the drive thru so we went inside. My wife talked to 1st young man who walked away rather than take her order. Young girl took her order, handed her 2 cups and again walked away. No thank you, nothing. We found the self serve machine and got our drinks, found out they were flat, no carbonation.
